Interactive storytelling problems and the "credibility budget"
elmuerte replied to Marek's topic in Video Gaming
Hmm... very interesting and also very difficult to implement there are so many questions you will have to answer. And there are a lot of trade offs. -
HL2 + HL2 ep 1:

Snakes on a Plane (and Gnarls Barkley)
elmuerte replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Movies & Television
well, maybe... but wayne's world is simply a fun movie -
I may not agree completely on your character analysis. But... as you described them they don't fall into "a)" or "b)" as posted in the FP

nobody saved the world in half life at the end of hl2 the world still isn't saved from The Combine

Ok... then where are: - Twinsen (Little Big Adventure); came from nothing; became something and remained something - Duke Nukem (duh); always was something; he just "is" and hasn't "become" - Guybrush Threepwood (Monkey Island); never was anything; still isn't anything - Kurt Hectic (MDK); he's the friggin janitor, the only plus he has is that the suit fits him ... in the end you can generalize it a single category: the hero of the game

ffs.... well thank you... now I installed the game again... R.I.P. spare time

What was your most embarrassing moments/embarrassing monets you caused others?
elmuerte replied to Mikopsych's topic in Idle Banter
ok maybe I have no clue about black-and-white televisions, but I highly doubt that black is shown as white on them. Also according to wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Ed -
they are remaking it, improving the graphics and gameplay I wonder

meh.. 'gamers' is just something like bakers or <sport>players. The problem is more that people assume "gamers" are completely different, like a "gamer" can't also be a curling player. something I really dislike is "coders" or even "scripters" instead of "programmers"

I think he knew, but he thought they couldn't touch him without creating awareness amongst the rest of the country and that therefor he was safe.

And "Gameboy" just to make it fundamentally wrong

PS3 to "KILL PC" also: it's not expensive enough.
elmuerte replied to General Fuzzy McBitty's topic in Video Gaming
I assume any popular OS would be run through virtualisation software. But still... I'll just wait and see. -

If Linux will be on the PS3 it's mostly due to IBMs work. -
How is that not offending? Anyway, miscommunication is a big problem in the world, larger than people want to acknowledge. And often they are even the cause of it without knowing (by trying to be fancy with words or figures of speech). A bit of clarity in communication can never hurt, well it can, but let's assume it's better to have more clarity. Because of this discussion I now know the views of others concerning the meaning of invention/creation/establishment/etc. of a (game) genre. And I hope that I gace back my view on it. That being said. Pong was fun, but I doubt I'll play Rockstar's Table Tennis.

I think there's a difference between "inventing a genre (\new form of gameplay)" and "establishing a genre" invented the genre => established the genre Fade to Black => Tomb Raider Xybots => Wolfenstein3D Alone in the Dark => Resident Evil
