  1. Having and getting game industry jobs

If you move to the UK you could change Aussie to Big, that would give a nice ring to it.
  2. Innovation in the video game industry

Actually, yes, I do mind. But... First, games are not movies. Games are more than movies because they (should) contain interactivity. And there are more of those things. So on the product alone it's not really comparable. On the production side of it it's also bad to compare it. As twmac already explained there are some similarities. I think this is because of the self fullflling prophecy. By moddeling the computer games industry onto the movie industry you are more or less forcing history to repeat itself. So unless you think that the way the movie industry has developed has been more or less perfect (e.g. the way to go) it's a bad thing to follow. The computer game industry is large enough to create their own path. It's a known fact that improvement can only be achieved by either innovation or by perfecting the current process of the product. Since you are, pretty much, constantly developing new products (new games) you can only achieve improvement through innovation. And innovation means taking risks. But a majority of the suits don't have the insight of innovation (also a very small percentage of the future-suits take courses in innovation management). The episodic content path is an example where you are not developing new products so on that field you can try to perfect the process. A good example of this is EA Sports with their yearly titles. The only thing they do is perfecting the process of creating a sports game. Ofcourse this is very boring for the consumers and it's only a matter of time before people are fed up with that.

People should stop comparing games with movies. It's bad for the computer games business.

slavery eh? I'm very good with a whip.
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

Heroes has its good moments. Wouldn't say it's a great series, all these parallel stories are somewhat distracting. But it's enjoyable. As for Prisonbreak, it's starting to become repetative and thus boring. It feels like they are strechting everything by continuously introducing new plot elements. And the quality of the episodes also have gone down hill. A lot of episodes lack tension. The "Riots, Drills and the Devil" episodes were simply awesome.

Well learning languages is more or less useless. They are pretty much all the same (e.g. being procedural/imperative), if you understand one language it's just a small matter of time to learn the syntax of the other. Besides making sure your programming skills are on par, I think it's best to pick a good mod'able game with a good implementation of gameplay elements that you can modify or reuse and play around with that stuff (e.g. try to introduce new gameplay dynamics). Or even try to simulate gameplay dynamics from other types of games in the game you are modding.
  11. Children of mana is shit

Localization is always fun. Well, the fuck-ups are. Like in a certain version of MS Word they incorrectly translated "align left" it was translated to "verwijzingen uitlijnen" which translates to english: "align links" since "links" is "left" in dutch and "verwijzingen" is "links", but 1 and 1 together and well.. you've got something odd But yeah, often translations are done pureply on text basis, but even if context is involved they often screw up. I often see this in the subtitles on Dutch TV. It's like the translators have no clue.
  12. PS4 to wait 'till at least 2010

2010? hmm... I better start saving money

Lemme think ... Ok. Oh, wait.. You said highly paid...
  16. Next Gen? Pah!

give it time... I guess... As for PC it's always keep up or ahead of consoles except for input devices. One of the actual new things with next gen consoles is the promised functionality of user created content.
  17. Xbox 360 vs PS3 (yawn?)

but redoing art assets costs a lot of money, besides... what are they going to do for the `Game 2007` version?
  18. I wonder how Telltale is doing

Did that a long time ago, I never got the point. They claimed they shipped it the minuted I ordered it, but I never saw anything. Bastards.
  19. Someone is already ripping off the Miis...

it's not like Mii was original: http://images.southparkstudios.com/games/create/
  20. I wonder how Telltale is doing

looks to me like somebody needs to cancel their membership to mensa.
  21. oh, and I forgot to mention: don't lift heavy things either
  22. Training your brain doesn't mean you don't forget things. Stay away from alcohol and marijuana, that'll help
  23. I wonder how Telltale is doing

Really? that's sort of sad. There are much better reasons not to buy Sam & Max 2. Like that the game is way to easy, but that appears to be a common issue with 3D adventure games. Or the episode being awefully short. I don't mind 3D in adventure games, but it appears that they have a hard time to get it right. Either the games are dumbed down a lot making it no fun at all (like Dreamfall) or they add rediculous action elements (like Dreamfall and Fahrenheit (GET READY!!!!)). Or the 3D implementation is just god awefull with as only goal to annoy the hell out of players (like Simon 3D). But other games like the Broken Sword 3, Monkey Island 4, The Longest Journey, Syberia (although the puzzles were not very challenging) were simply good. Granted, I'm not a die hard Adventure gamer, I prefer the more action oriented adventure games, and companies are approaching that (sub)genre a bit more. As for the episodic content stuff, I don't like it (not even in the Telltale approach). The wait is simply too long. As for downloading, don't mind that as much, but I do prefer to have games stored on a more permanent storage. Burned CD\DVDs age pretty quickly. Ofcourse this is a non issue when in 5 years I can still download my licensed copied of the game to replay it.

4th dimension isn't time, it's temporal change, which is sort of like time. The difference? well, as you said, you can go back or forward in time. But you can reset the position in the temporal field of an object (e.g. return it to it's initial state, for example restore a savegame). anyway, I sort of fail to see how the PS3 does something special with temporal change that games haven't done since the beginning.
