  1. Wuhuuu Grid Wars!!!

Playing a rip-off/clone/copyright infringing game isn't actually piracy
  2. I stepped in some Knytt

ok, found one of the other questionmark thingys and it showed me this. apperently it activates low gravity [edit] Also found the 3rd secret. It adds well.. a secret song.. nothing more for the rest no special things, except some extra difficult secret passages Now playing this game
  3. I stepped in some Knytt

to get the helicoper game add
  4. I stepped in some Knytt

Through a hidden passage you'll reach a teleporter that will teleport you in the sky on a cloud, when you go down a screen you'll see another teleporter. This will take you to another sky city which as a question mark block that unlocks the secret game (screenshot attached) It's a helicopter clone. If I look at the complete map I see a couple of other questionmark blocks (3 in total). I wonder if they unlock other games.
  5. yeah. but so far the rumors around the PS3 releases have been more correct than what Sony said. Still... in 3 months a lot can happen (even an early PS3 release ).
  6. I stepped in some Knytt

it wasn't at a dead end. check the screenshot (the red arrow is obviously mine)
  7. I stepped in some Knytt

nice game... and holy hidden passages batman. at some places you can simply walk through the wall. Or at least I found two locations.
  8. For some reason ... I don't believe it
  9. if this rumor is true it's seriously going to cost sony their success in europe.
  10. Dragon Quest IX is DS exclusive

Stock traders don't care about games. Just about possible profit a company will make. If reviews come out that the new game might not be a good they stock will drop. Well maybe not because the traders might still think people will buy the game even if the reviews were bad. If the game was Wii exclusive the same thing might have happened. so I don't think it's a clear sign.
  11. Having and getting game industry jobs

You could have snow now. But Christmas is something you will never get around this time of the year. Never ever. Well... unless we change Christmas to start on 12 december. But then there's less chance of a snowy Christmas. But a bit of snow couldn't hurt, but not like last year. That, even tho it was fun, kinda sucked.
  12. Innovation in the video game industry

That problem isn't only in the game industry. Normal software development has some of the same and related problems (e.g. being late, flawed, bugged, and not reaching their initial goals). OTOH I think there's a major difference, I see creating games more as a creative process that evolves during the first part of development. For that reason I think using an agile development process is the best approach for game creation. But not all of the principles in agile development can be properly executed for a game because they are way to complicated to implement (refering to things like unit testing). Anyway, I do think a lot of game devs are unaware of certain product development principles and I think it's mostly because they simply never heard about them. Which is ofcourse a sad thing. I don't think they should be looking at the movie industry for that, at least not alone. Since a computer game is mostly a piece of software they should look at how software development is done (for a part). But ofcourse the other principles (story stuff, sound stuff, ... stuff) should be "borrowed" from the other industries. But still, the game industry is large enough to have their own segment, and I find it hard to believe that nobody is actually looking into this stuff.
  13. Innovation in the video game industry

Total Recall comes to mind Or would that be the new form of movies ... hmm ... but iirc some already coined the "interactive experiences" term for games.
  14. I thought it was about the trigger button on the bottom of the wiimote.
  15. DOH! Can't believe I didn't get that one.
  16. Painting my room

If it's for a darkroom it couldn't hurt Or for a bedroom. You could make those asteroids and ship from ... uhm... this stuff. (no idea what the English name for that is). And if you want to fo the extra mile you animate it
  17. I real that whole article but it didn't say anything about what "chart history" means. @Marek: The long version whould have been: "Like Donkey Kong? What in Nintendo's name does that mean?" Is that better?
  18. Painting my room

You mean this one: I think the scene with the broken bridge is much better. Can't find a screenshot of it though. What about the stairs maze scene of the Fate of Atlantis? Come to think of it, what will the rooms function be?
  19. Never actually saw it being used within an explanatory context. So therefor I filed it under "Buzzword". If you leave out the word "chart" does it change the meaning? or even change the truth value? I don't think so. I'm sure they have data even before "they" decided to make charts of the gathered data. So they might have well say that it was the fastest selling console in recorded history, and since history is always recorded just "history" would be more than enough. As for the Donkey Kong post, I don't see the relation between Donkey Kong and Holland's game industry. Maybe you already did cover that, but not in that thread. The destruction thing was irony. Sometimes the words don't always correctly reflect my thoughts I have at that time. After a while when I re-read the text I see the things that are not completely as I though but by that time the "damage" is already done. Anyway... we're not all writers.
  20. That's the worst made up statistics related word in idle forums post history.
  21. Having and getting game industry jobs
