Well, if it's nothing more than a statemachine it mostlikely won't have any emotion. All paths are predetermained, so it's nothing more than the love/hate scale similar to, for example, the light/dark-side stuff in the starwars games. If you want the characters to develop emotional scars you'll have to do more than a statemachine. The dog looks more like a normal NPC (with very nice animations) that listens to simple commands. But the bigger question would still be if it's wasted effort. It's all fun at stuff, but I rather have 3 NPC that combined have the same work effort than 1 NPC with this effort.

So how is this dog different from every other scripted NPC? (well, except that the dog's statemachine is a bit more complete than NPCs usually have). I've always get the idea that Molyneux is too much focusing on working out certain parts in high detail and neglecting a lot of the other stuff. For example in Fable, you main character will develop scars on his body over time. Well, interesting idea, but you usually never see the skin because the character is wearing clothes or armor. Besides, you armor isn't affected by the same logic.

omg, that looks very very interesting

That would make it, what? the second company that managed to get episodic content right? (the first being telltale). I have my doubts that episodic for TLJ will work out well.

The bigger question is, does this actually work? And why would this work? Back on subject. I did notice the exact effect of racing games. I was playing a racing game against a friend of mine for an hour of so (multiplayer nfs hot pursuit 2). Directly after that we had to drive somewhere and we both notice that my friend was driving much faster than usually (or allowed on that road). But we also noticed he was more in control than we would normally be when driving that fast (not that is was that fast, 80kmph on a 50kmph road). I guess he was still surfing the adrenaline rush he had from trying to beat me in the game. So a person might drive faster, but (s)he might also drive safer. And it's not that driving fast directly translates to more eccidents. Most traffic accidents happen in areas with lower speed limits. Ofcourse this is also because there are more dangerous situations in low speed areas.

It's not just RTS games. I've encountered too many games that have that problem. However, often you can easily fix it by setting a video profile for that game. When you have an nVidia card you can find it somewhere in the control panel (with the newer drivers it's behind 3D settings -> Manage 3D settings -> Program Settings -> Hardware Acceleration).

My usual answer when a clerk approaches me to with the question if he can help me is: "Depends, do you think you know more about it than me?" For some reason this often scares them even if I hardly know anything about the products I'm interested in.

Wow.. you could run Evil Twin? All it did on my machine was crach either on startup or within a couple of minutes after starting a game.

I think it's a glitch in the matrix erm.. google For example reuters doesn't show the same drop.

Absolutely a cat. Because cats rule. And I wouldn't belong to either. Cats are not owned, dogs are owned. Cats have caretakers not owners.

why order one when you get one for free (sorry ) Cats rule!

Theodore Rex isn't in the bottom 100, it doesn't have enough votes.

Well I though it was interesting to note. Because they could have made an exception on that page. Anyway. They have quite some awards. 20 special achievement awards. 8 dubious honors awards. 10 genre awards and 10 platform awards. (so erm.. 48 awards in total) But at least no odd sponsored awards.
-
Oh right.. end of the year... Time for all those lame "best of" lists. [after seeing the movie] wth... that many people bought Jaws unleashed ?! The other categories are interesting too. This "dubious awards" actually doesn't look like a very lame list. What I don't get is that they complain about the Burger King king in Fight Night Round 3 for the "Most Despicable Use of In-Game Advertising" category. And not about the name "Dodge" that is played every 5 seconds (well at least in the video). Interesting to note is that they tell all these games are so bad and nobody should buy them, they have nice "buy it" and "check prices" links on that page for those games.

Because I was hoping it to become better. Besides, the part that I hated the most was over quite fast (since it was mostly non interactive waiting it to end).

I rather do something I like and not earn much than something I don't like earn a lot. My limit would be: enough to pay the bills and food and some extras for some recreation (e.g. to buy a new game or update my computer in order to run some newer games).

the computer game; I've completed Dreamfall and that took more than 3 hours. So whatever for more aweful game there may exist... I think I can spend more than 3 hours with that.

Sounds like things were rushed out of the door. For some reason I keep forgetting the PS3 has already been released.

Sony continues to simply rock, PS3 delayed again in Europe?

"Resistance: Fall of man" isn't WW2 + Alien Invasion It's WW2 + Human Mutation Gone Bad. Not much better since it isn't much different from WW2 + Occult. I think the most unqiue thing is that this time it's not about the nazi's but about the russians. -
This is, more or less, a personal blog entry of one of the Crytek developers about the raid at their offices after a shooting (note: this happened a while ago). Something having to do with "murder simulations" Like WTF!? I never really understood the excessive force they use to bust some nerds. I find it interesting to note that Germany is pretty much the only country that does their own rating. All other european countries use the ratings given by PEGI (which are done by the Dutch NICAM).
-
Well, not armed. But enough policement around for each one to carry a max of 2 computers from the datacenter. And that at 3 locations. But then again, the pirate bay wasn't about murder simulators. And verybody knows that people working on murder simulators are armed to the teeth. funny
-
I said it was a while ago this isn't the first time I hear that they used a shit load of officers (or whatever you want to call them). When they raided the pirate bay they also used excessive force. Same with with Operation Buccaneer. Saw the same thing a bit more closely with a Crazy Bytes related raid. You really get the idea that they expect them to be armed to the teeth.

Die instantly. Living forever sounds boring. Because you need to make a living constantly. If you don't it'll become a living hell. Which ofcourse will also happen after ... 200 years or so. Burn all my books. That's an easy one anyway. First of all, don't have that much books. Or any paper stuff. I try to have a paperless office (well life) as much as possible.
