  1. Woo it's a survey!

*sigh* meh... a research about how gamers think they are affected by video games. that's like asking a patient how sick he think he is. it would be better if the people feel the same way with books and/or movies.
  2. Did you know...

nah... it's more like "playing with the PS3 will make you take a shit"
  3. Double Shock

You're going to get it twice?
  4. Double Shock

well, you can't expect a universe to conform to arbitrary rules that have not been defined. Of course you need to define the rules, but it becomes more and more easy to define generic rules. And that's what's it all about.

  6. Fantastic Uwe Boll interview

    I though that was Postal?
  7. Double Shock

Give it 3 to 9 months before someone will announce that idea. That trick is already possible (well at least in UE3 using PhysX and ai-implant or Kynapse). PhysX includes cloth simulation, of course you could also use very thin plywood that would simply break. ai-implant and Kynapse can dynamically adjust waypoints and reach specs according to changes in the environment. Usually used to create obstructions. But you can also introduce new paths (all dynamically). The more interesting point, how long until we can actually be macgyver in a game.
  8. Double Shock

For example: You can light someone on fire and they'll run to water to extinguish the fire, when they are in the water you can electrocute them. Or, they might simply continue running to you and set you on fire. Or you can use a big daddy to get rid of some people. You can made the big daddy think (can be done in several ways) one of the other people tried to hurt the little sister and the big daddy will attack them. And there is of course the head on option where you kill them yourself. So,,, it comes down to killing people through environment hazards (either existing or created by yourself), using NPCs or doing it yourself. That sounds like a way that is quite new for games. Usually when you can do things like that it's strictly scripted. OR very limited.
  9. Did you know...

Did you know that jack is back?
  10. Bioshock: PC or 360? [NO SPOILERS!]

directx10 has a couple of useful features that directx9 hasn't, although it's not really hardware or driver model related. It was something related to AA and HDR postprocessing effects. Anyway, on directx9 you can't have AA and and HDR postprocessing (with acceptable performance), but on directx10 you can. Of course MS could release directx9.1 where they would give programmers access to that part in the rendering pipeline. well.. something like that anyway.
  11. Zero Punctuation

I don't really like the new format. It's too standard. It looks just like any other site, except that the articles are usually a bit better and more interesting.

  22. Quake Zero: Free Browse-Quake 3

omg.. that's an awful way to render textures. for each wall segment the image is drawn like 200 times with various offsets
  23. Paedophiles

Why not just put a bullet between their eyes?
  24. Quake Zero: Free Browse-Quake 3

canvas doesn't allow texture mapping on walls, ceilings or floors. not even close to wolfenstein 3d
  25. Rage: more quakecon news

er... I mean software engineer... And just because you launched a rocket into the air doesn't make you a good engineer. It's not like they managed to launch a small car into the air.
