  1. Kinetic typography in games

ooh... stranger than fiction, that's an awesome title sequence interesting site
  2. Mass Effect

But the citadel was made by aliens a long long, very long time ago
  3. Cortex Command

I think it was 2 weeks ago. Shortly after RPS covered it.
  4. Bootleg copies on eBay

You mean the "filmwereld" thing? and I really hate that commercial. In the beginning you were not able to skip them on rental DVDs. So far the annoying Brein notice, you often got a "downloading is illegal thing" and this thing. All required every time you inserted the DVD. It takes over 2 minutes just to reach the menu.
  5. Mass Effect

The ISS has floors that make clunk sounds, they just don't have artificial gravity. I think (most of) the space station design was quite well. I say most, because I'm completely ignore the bases on the non-story planets. Those were quite lame.
  6. Cortex Command

I tried it a while ago. Amazing piece of work, but I didn't like it a lot. Controls were just quite annoying, and the buying menu thingy was also awful. So in short, didn't enjoy playing it.
  7. Kinetic typography in games

Went through quite some intros of video games, and text in introductions is quite rare.
  8. Bootleg copies on eBay

Bleh.. always the same shit, piracy is about selling counterfeit product. It's not the same as downloading stuff, that's only copyright infringement. And copyright infringement isn't always bad. For example the whole abandonware stuff, it's simply copyright infringement. However, there is no legal way to get a hold of those creations. Or at least, not in a way so that the creator (well, copyright holder) can profit from it. And I loath the copyright notification messages I can't skip. I still don't get the whole logic behind it. I already gave them my money.

What about the Tron 2.0 intro (skip to 2:40 for the title sequence): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-0BusKeMb40
  10. How...?! (Guitar Hero viral ad)

    Instant Rimshot always useful
  11. Mass Effect

I think I was a normal warrior thingy, who mastered the weapon overheating skill.
  12. How...?! (Guitar Hero viral ad)

    neat... image editing time
  13. Mass Effect

When does playing the wizard not suck? So far in most games I played only the warrior or warrior-hybrid classes worked well
  14. The Two-Mega Cartridge!

megabyte did pull the occasional con, but he rocked
  15. Mass Effect

Yes, it's used to cover up some of the ugly rendering artifacts, turning off the static makes it even more ugly. But after a while you get used to it.
  16. Idle Thumbs 5: The Wizard

next time try to sneak in hot scoops.
  17. Zero Punctuation

A new thingy on the Escapist, it's quite enjoying. Video game reviews with no punctuation (well, some) and funny remarks and animations. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/articles/view/editorials/zeropunctuation/1350-Zero-Punctuation-Heavenly-Sword-and-Other-Stuff The pre-escapist releases:
  18. The volume was a bit off, the ice cubes were louder than the voices. I think this concept works better with 3 or 4 people.
  19. Seriously they are the same people

the left one looks like Jack Black, but wtf is the guy on the right?
  20. Zero Punctuation

Deux Ex theme song, with lyrics, in Guitar Hero World Tour well.. at the end of the review anyway
  21. How...?! (Guitar Hero viral ad)

Why don't they make a real bike hero. Nah, that would be a dumb idea. There is a major flaw in that whole movie, the guy is just riding along the path. He doesn't have to press any buttons at the right time. GET READY!
  22. Plug me with indie goodness!

when is something considered indie? is "On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness" game considered indie? if so, you should try that one. although quite old, TubeTwist was a lot of fun
  23. Fuck Metacritic

That might be because of actions like the Edios one. So that the sheeple pick up the game, and toss it away after 1 hour never to be played again. Like the the Iron Man game... I think metacritic should abandon numbers or at least the absolute scale. Simply make scores relative based on all other scores. More good new games will make the previously good games probably less good. Of course that doesn't change the fact that one man's "good" isn't the same as the "good" from somebody else.
  24. Fuck Metacritic

that, or give relative ratings. For example: game X is not as good as Y, but better than well known game Z (note: the hypothetical Z, not the game 'Z' by the Bitmap Brothers, which was actually quite nice, better than KKND, but not as good as C&C1 or Warcraft 2).
  25. Fuck Metacritic

more proof to completely ignore reviews from commercial media
