"This game will scare the shit out of the zombies in your basement" - ign.com
-
This game is really starting to become psychedelic, just finished a really weird level where in the beginning I was bitten by a snake. Everything started to move (including textures). I'm really enjoying the differences in the levels. These levels are really getting insane, it's not even close to the stuff you played in the demo. I just finished a maze where I had to navigate an anti-me to the other side while I had to go to the starting place of the anti-me.

Idle Thumbs 24: Shadow and Colossus: Back in Action

It was idlethumbs' DNS which was not behaving. Nice job on completely wandering off to where no podcast has gone before For some reason I completely zoned out after a while, so I'll have to relisten this episode again later this day. -
It could be interesting. It probably won't. It will probably have some crappy love story attached to it.

that's no eight bit alarm clock on that site, I wonder if it counts down to 2015

You don't have to be a Schafer fan to play Psychonauts. The game can stand its ground very well on its own. I for one never completed over 5% of Grim Fandango or Day of the Tenticle. So I probably can't call myself a Schafer fan. but I love Psychonauts.

How so? You never figured him to be a gamer?

Can a video game journalist also be a video game critic?
elmuerte replied to Alex P's topic in Video Gaming
I don't you could consider what you describe to be journalism or even news. When you take those "bribes" you are nothing more than an extension of the PR dept. of that company. Journalism requires integrity. -

I agree with Rodi. The former reports on the development of the product, and the latter reports on the product itself. -
the full version is currently on sale on Greenhouse for $10: http://www.playgreenhouse.com/ just like Defense Grid and Penny Arcade's game episode 1.

It wouldn't let me enter any code, pressing action didn't do anything. I had this a couple of times with computer consoles. The console would open, and then... nothing. Anyway, I thought the mini-nuke sucked big time.

I thought you've had already got one?

I tried, but the door wouldn't open.

Or, April fools is upon us. So, what prank(s) did you pull off? Mine was announcing on the magicball network that LBA was now available on GOG: http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/little_big_adventure/ (ok, not as good as the one I pulled off in 2007, because people actually believed that one; didn't do one last year) For the rest I don't have anything jokes planned :/

I also liked this one: http://www.nationalpost.com/news/story.html?id=d645a02a-9a24-4172-a92f-46cf1941cdb1 apparently French is not French enough for Quebecers [sp?]

I have HOW many unbeaten games? *foams at mouth*
elmuerte replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
it will take a while to add my collection... need an import feature. I think I have to adjust my number. For example I have all Rainbox six games, but I haven't finished the single player part of any of those. I've only played those games in multiplayer mode (a lot). -

There are quite some game bundles these days, for example: http://www.play.com/Search.aspx?searchtype=PC&searchstring=collection&page=search&pa=search&go.x=0&go.y=0 -

I don't really sell the games I buy. Also, most of the terrible games either came in a bundle with good games (like die by the sword came with fallout, broken sword 1+2), or straight from the bargain bin. Just like some other thumb'ers I have issues with cheap games that sounds interesting. That's why I try to avoid GOG.com as much as possible. -

elmuerte replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
That's a lot. Al though, I fear that my unbeaten percentage is also quite high. Although some of the games were so terrible I don't want to play it (like GROM), others are simply... well, weird. I like the game, but for some reason I'm never able to complete it (e.g. Dungeon Keeper). I think my count is somewhere beteen 20 and 30 (not counting the 10 or so I never player at all, because they were 'freebies' in a game bundle) -
GDC! Idle Thumbs Journal of Games
elmuerte replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Haha, awesome. Did you gather any reactions from the people that read it? (except for their expressions) -
Pretty much everything that consumes electricity will leak electricity, even when turned off. Unless it has a switch that really breaks the "loop", which are used less and less these days. Pulling the plug is the best solution. The fire hazard issue is quite overrated in most cases. Most of the sophisticated devices which don't completely shut down have have a power supply with an internal fuse which will kill itself in case of a short circuit. Coffee machines and toasters often don't have that (and they usually consume a shit load of energy). Also, quite some electric devices have been shielded with burn proof materials, just in case. Of course, Greenpeace doesn't like that, because these burn proof materials are bad for the environment when you burn them.

GDC! Idle Thumbs Conf Grenade 4: [transmission lost]
elmuerte replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
I think the red color compression issue has to do with eyes being more receptive to red, therefore artifacts in red are more noticeable. Also, I don't think OnLive will fix the network issue considering laggyness. The bandwidth issue can be fixed in the future, but latency can not be improved much.
