Interesting statement, that would make BitTorrent the first protocol ever to become illegal. Although the text is probably transcribed out of context. Otherwise Blizzard needs to remove the bittorrent usage out of WoW for all Swedish players

you never completed any of the keen games?! Or Diablo, or Diablo 2, or... do you stop playing a game everytime you buy one? -

Idle Thumbs 25: Pause Theme from Battletoads
elmuerte replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
Editor wise there was no easier editor than Build (you know, Duke3D). I've only messed around with UnrealEd 2 (the one that came with the original UT). I was more interested in programming. UnrealScript is hardly a beast. It's quite easy to learn, specially when you know a bit of Java or C#. The most difficult part is to understand now, in general, the game framework of the UnrealEngine works. The basics of this hasn't changed much over the years, there was an important change between UE1 and UE2. But you don't have to know the whole framework, or even the explicit implementations used for Epic's games, to create some mods. Also the user generated documentation (see: unrealwiki) is quite well, and a lot of it is still useful to understand how UE works, even though most of the documentation is about UE1 and UE2 (UT and UT2003/UT2004 specifically). The problem is that quite some people simply do not want to spend some effort to read up on the tech. They simply want to copy paste stuff and follow explicit tutorials. And the last couple of years the "newbs" also became quite arrogant. They would join #unrealscript on irc, ask a question and leave (in anger) within a couple of minutes before somebody could even answer the question. Things should instantly work the way they want, or else they will get mad and say the tools suck. (Not saying the tools are great, they do suck on various levels) Anyway, this is mostly based on my own observations of the Unreal mod community for the past 9 years. -
Idle Thumbs 25: Pause Theme from Battletoads

Concerning mods, I think part of the downfall of mods is the greed and "wannabe professional developer"-attitude of various mods. If you look at various mods you'll see ridiculous role titles attached to people, or the sheer amount of "PR" people certain mod teams have. It's just insane. Various mod teams also want to keep stuff secret as much as possible, and they do so with team members signing NDAs. -

And the environment. The environment is interesting too, or at least, it is for me. -
(and I'm not sorry; stupid anti terror nonsense)

Watched the 3 new Red Dwarf episodes/mini-series. Started out very very slow, second episode reached Red Dwarf quality, but episode 3 ruined it again. The whole story itself is actually quite lame, feels like a clip show from the past seasons.

http://www.andyetitmoves.net It's quite fun, but I'm can't seem to get the rotate world keys correct.

Well here nobody is stunting here. Mediamarkt is the cheapest, the next door FRS sells them all at 40-45. Haven't checked the V&D a little down the street. Play never has the NDS games in stock which I want to buy. It's a conspiracy. But also the shipping duration of Play sucks. For some weird reason it takes between 2 and 3 weeks on average. And I always forget to check Play when buying NDS games. Recently I've been buying stuff through amazon.co.uk (I like the current exchange rate). (I finally got a hold on copy of scrapland)
-
wait a minute... where do you get cheap NDS games? I've only seen serious crap being sold below 37 euros, most of the games are 40'ish. How "long" is long. Usually when I play on my NDS I have to be able to save it within 5 minutes (without losing too much progress)

and now stretch that small movie to become feature length, does it still work?

There were some puzzles I had some serious issues with, I simply left them open for a while and later completed them without much problems. This usually the case when you are just getting the hang of the new time feature. Although, there is one level in World 2 you can not complete until you did the next level. This is because you need a certain piece of the puzzle.

Impulse has various forms of DRM, from Steam-like "being logged in"-DRM, to Greenhouse's "activate once"-DRM, to no DRM at all.
-
well... that was great. I wonder if there are already some user created levels

Conquest Earth?
