  1. started on this, because it was a while since the last bogus site that links to idle thumbs. Need to work on the design a bit, and fix the images and what not. But tonight it should be finished.
  2. If you're under 18, gaming is about to suck for you

There's also a correlation between school shootings and gun ownership. There also a correlation between shootings and reading books/watching movies/listening to classical music. Correlation doesn't mean shit, specially not when there is no objective and confirmable measurement.

I've never seen any rating identification on a comic, not even on Marvel comics. In fact, I can't find any covers (online) that contain a rating. I only see the rating mentioned (sometimes) in Marvel's online-catalog. Or at least, they're not a clearly visible as the movie and game ratings.
  4. I think we should start a virtual charity to help get Alice and Kev their house back, and a job.
  5. No really: http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=24147 I really wonder what kind of game that was supposed to be. It couldn't be a full size FPS game, like DNF...
  6. If you're under 18, gaming is about to suck for you

Ok.. so comics, they have visuals, but still no rating. Also, kids know what knifes are, and when a book talking about using the knife to cut one's wrist, etc... I think a kid can put one and one together and produce some "interesting" results. But I guess you're right. It probably has to do with fear from the unknown. And rather getting to know the unknown, put it out of sight just as if it isn't there. A lot of stuff is getting regulated with the argument "we don't know what the (longterm) effects are, so it's better to avoid/limit/... it". And then there are things people ignore despite the (common) knowledge about what the effects are. Like baking in the sun for hours. people are weird

  11. If you're under 18, gaming is about to suck for you

From the last 3 words from miffy's post I clearly sensed some frustration about the conclusion of said story. And that's why I wrote in that post. It's only half the story, maybe the dad returned the game after he checked it out at home. Just because he bought it for his young daughter doesn't mean the parenting stopped there. It's not like the average sales clerk as knowledge about the stuff they sell. I wouldn't be surprise if a clerk would say that Mass Effect contains pornographic material if you asked if there was nudity in the game. Just because he heard that on the "news" or internet. That's why these ratings are so useful, now everybody can get a bit of an idea what they can expect, and don't have to trust the clerk on providing a rating. The clerk could answer which game is better.

And that's the reason why I don't play online games. Damn annoying kids everywhere. So.. the fuss is that you failed to educate the parent in order for him to bring up his daughter? So, you think he's a bad parent? You think the daughter will become a defect because of playing this game? I think she can't make a distinction between fiction and reality?

  19. If you're under 18, gaming is about to suck for you

I know a few older people with kids who play games with their kids, and not just the games with rating which fit their physical age. Not sure how well it goes, but I guess we'll hear how many their kids will kill when it happens.
  20. Who you gonna call?

Don't hear a lot of good things about the PC version (engine wise). also.. RRP in the USA is $30... wtf is it 50 euros in europe!? or is this a scam from the european retailers?
