  1. Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

That whole discussion about games pretending to be movies reminds me of an interview with Frederick Raynal: http://www.digitalgamestv.fr/video-18878-digitaltv.html (just after 4:00)
  2. Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

IdleThumbs used to be an article site with an occasional review and what not. After it died it became a blog hub thingy featuring blog posts from the staff's individual blogs. After it died again it became a podcast. And now that's going to die too. So what will be next? videoblog? twitterroll? dead end for a lot of domains?
  3. Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

Idle Thumbs is like Hollywood movies, it needs a reboot every few years.
  4. Death Rally is now free

the awesome top-down racer from Remdey has been released for free (and updated for MS Windows): http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2009/10/21/brand-new-youre-retro-death-race/
  5. Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

http://r.i.p.idlethumbspostcast.info ? I think Bethesda accidentally the whole postcast. Or maybe they it on purpose.
  6. Probably... that game takes close to 60 hours to complete.
  7. Idle Thumbs 48: In Space

My favorite game unboxing were the Crusader: No Remorse/No Regret. Because besides a normal detailed manual it contains a WEC newsletter (the WEC being the ingame company you worked for). It also contains a "resistance manual" which was a manual written from the ingame perspective about certain security systems and key people (with handwritten notes). You can see this awesome stuff here: http://www.oldgames.sk/en/game/crusader-no-remorse/download/937/ Stonekeep was also quite nice, it contained a small novel "The Oath of Stonekeep", never read it though.
  8. Well, that's the reason why I'm not considering to buy a XBox360, way too much lock-in.
  9. Life

Preparing to move sucks. Takes way too much time to pack all the crap I collected in the past 10 years.
  10. Wizaaaaaards!!

guilty pleasure... wizard 101 is actually a bit of fun (better than puzzle pirates)
  11. Wizaaaaaards!!

Ok then... I'm Chase Rainbowpants (32WSWL3N)
  12. Favorite Game, Best Game, Desert Island Game

Favorite: Little Big Adventure. It has a large and interesting world to explore, it builds upon a nice and evolving mystery/quest. Best: Either Anachronox or Super Mario World. Anachronox has quite some flaws, but the whole concept of the game is quite well designed. Desert Island: this must be one of the Bethesda RPGs, so either Morrowind, Fallout 3 or Oblivion. I think I'm going with Morrowind on this one because it's has the largest world and most variation and possibilities.
  13. OK. Who wrote to UK:R about Marek?

"Marek" isn't "video games", that's Nick.
  14. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

    That's random, it's either , , or
  15. Wizaaaaaards!!

wtf are you people signing up for that!?
  16. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

Some how I'm pretty sure that the Rocksteady people are very satisfied with people's reaction to the third scarecrow encounter
  17. (IGN.com)

"I also wasn't blown away by it to the degree some other people were." - ign.com [1]
  18. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

I played it on the PC, so I'm looking forward to the 3rd game of Rocksteady (and probably the 1st original game).
  19. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

Ignore the thugs, just jump and dodge until a titan charges, then quick draw a battarang (make sure you have the 2x battarang and you'll take out both titans). then the titans are hit just keep hitting on them until they recover and then being at the beginning. Focus on 1 titan at the time, use him and ride him to also damage the other. It can be finished in 4 or 5 cycles of the above tactic.
  20. Wizaaaaaards!!

Wizard 101 (apparently something Tom Hall is involved with)
  21. Kinetic typography in games

    well... that sucked
  22. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

    nice cat in the end
  23. Isn't the reason why PC games are usually cheaper than Console games due to the fact that there is no platform provider that needs their cut (i.e. Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo)? Also, downloading software and using it (without buying a license) is not pirating, it's just plain and simple copyright infringement. If you would create a physical copy and sell it claiming it's a original copy, then you would be pirating. Anyway, I agree. People who boycott a game (because of its price) by playing an illegitimate copy are morons, idiots, etc.
  24. Have people seen Machinarium?

It's only a shame that they don't have any nice desktop wallpapers. Oh... didn't see the "wallpaper" link on their site (is that new?). Still it would have been nice if there was a wallpaper of the city as you see it on the start screen.
  25. Monty Python on Jimmy Fallon

Hahaha. I loved the chair gag.
