Yes. Paper doesn't record audio. Paper cannot be searched easily. Duplicating the contents of paper isn't as easy. Since September 2003 I only took my laptop with me to lectures. The only downside of a laptop compared to paper was that lack of sketching.

I will only accept your offer if it included an XBox360. But I know the feeling. I also have a few duplicates, although never bought any of them at full price. My worst offense would be the two copies of Assassin's Creed 1.

Yeah. They (writers and movie makers) lied to us how awesome the future would be.

it plays like Baldur's Gate

Well, at least we would have had some fun. I rather go out with a big bang. As for serious mine fires, this once has been burning since the early 60s.

FYI, you cannot borrow a steam game to a friend, or you'll risk losing all of your steam games.

A college simply walking into the store during lunch and picked up the game for XBox360. What an idiot.

Advice for teenagers interested in the game industry.

Well, I think game music should either contribute to the current atmosphere in the game, or take a leading role (i.e. be a substitute for a dialog in an non-interactive segment). It should blend in with the rest of the game. But I have the feeling music takes its own route, it competes with being the center of attention with the rest of the game. You shouldn't really be aware that there is music playing while you're actively playing a game, only when you specifically pay attention to it. Or when the music is used for narrative during barely-/non-interactive segments. And then there is also game music that completely fails to grasp the overall theme of the game. -

I agree that music in games has become much less interesting in the last 5 years or so. But once in a while there are games with really good original music, like Mass Effect or Machinarium, and sometimes games with very good use of licensed music, like Fallout 3. -
how did your company even get a hold on those?

Ok... so now we need to find the Manos: The Hands of Fate of games.

Oh right, just remembered, this is a Ubisoft game. So unless they backed off from their dumb DRM scheme, I'm not going to buy it.

Now can you even pay 1ct when paypal charges 30ct per transaction?

Not at all. I think it'll either be a walk through the part, or meat circus.

Chances are high you'll work for an asshole when working in a industry which is mostly run by assholes. -
Why would they offer jobs to to ties? Ties can't work.

I haven't heard any crunch stories in the software development field. Sure there are cases of long hours. But not long weeks or even months.
