  1. Movie/TV recommendations

meh.. "All right. It's Saturday night, I have no date, a two-liter bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix-tape." was better
  2. Jeff LEGOldblum a.k.a. LEGO Jurassic World

It comes and goes. I did not like the LEGO Marvel thingy, but the LEGO Movie game was good. I think the LEGO games which are based on a movie/book are the better games.
  3. General Video Game Deals Thread

Everybody should grab Anachronox. It's Tom Hall's Psychonauts. It's a marvel in story telling and game design. The main gameplay element is jRPGy, so boring turn based fights. But there is so much gold in this game. It's a shame that the 2nd half has not been created yet.
  4. Life

Oh yeah, forgot to bring in some context about that. You should see "Terry Pratchett: Choosing to Die".
  5. Life

I first came into contact with Pratchett's work through the Discworld graphical adventure game. As I'm not much of a reader of fiction I've only read a few of his books. His humor is really well worked out. He died naturally, but I hoped he would have gotten to the point where he would have taken his own life.
  6. I don't know if I like the instrumental version of the new theme more than the one with voice. But both sound very ominous, a bit of a cyber punk feel.

Fuck that level! But it's not a Star Road level, it's a Special level. But Tubular and the secret Cheese Bridge exit are the worst parts of the game.
  8. IDLE THUMBS 200

Who cares how Notch spends his money. He earned it by selling a company that became big in an ethical way (unlike a shit load of other companies). If Notch doesn't want to redistribute his wealth to the highly paid executives at "charity" organizations.
  9. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

19 or 20. The most recent backer episode is #18, there's at least 1 coming. So, that about 19*~25 ~= 8 hours of documentary
  10. IDLE THUMBS 200

Just started this episode. OMG the instrumental intro is amazing.
  11. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

the first one is also quite grindy
  12. Ok that's it. No longer going to check this thread. Don't want anything spoiled.
  13. Life

I'm halfway through, and it's good. The first chapter is a bit annoying to go though because it feels quite repetitive. And given the fact that you're reading the book is that you probably noticed the symptoms of a death march.

Never Alone (Kisima Ingitchuna) A Limbo like platform game with a documentary. Just like with the platforming in Limbo it can be frustrating at some times. It took me about 4 hours to complete. The documentary is about the life of a native Alaskan tribe, it's quite interesting.

You probably don't want to hear this. but it sounds like you're on the receiving end of a death march project SAM. You need to find a way out of it as it can take you down. If you feel like reading up on death marches I can recommend you Edward Yourdon's book on this subject.
  16. New people: Read this, say hi.

Interesting top 5. I don't know about Thief, but seeing Jade Empire there is an interesting choice.

Yesterday I finished the last few puzzles of Tetrobot & Co. It is sort of the sequel to Blocks that matter, but this time it's completely puzzle and there is little timing and no agility. The puzzles are of proper difficulty but not too difficult (for me) to get stuck completely.

Just finished Murdered: Soul Suspect The game could have been if it: Did not have tedious "challenges" where you have to "stealthy" kill daemons. Towards the end you have more encounters, and they are annoying as hell Put some more effort in being a detective. It's just plain easy, and in cases where you can be wrong, there is not really any consequence (not even failing to get a cheevo). The story is quite compelling, the mechanics are quite ok. The collectable hunting is boring as usual, except that collecting stuff provides additional story content, which is nice. I did not managed to complete 4 collectable types because I did not fancy running around the world to find them. The ghost story collectables are the most interesting, and complete separate from the main story. All in all, I had a fun 9 hours of entertainment.
  19. I Had A Random Thought...

You guys suck. The Goonies is a great movie, and is still fun as hell. It's like an Indiana Jones Temple of Doom Junior. If you get a kick out of people going on an adventure discovering hidden passages and stuff then it's a great movie. Just like The Neverending Story, Labyrinth. Although no hidden passages stuff going on, still some awesome exploring in the Explorers and Flight of the Navigator. But I think you should skip those if you didn't see them as a kid. Not completely sure, but Solarbabies might also be a risk to watch as an adult for the first time. The Last Starfighter was awesome as a kid, but the CGI hurts so bad when you watch it now. I'm not sure if it's a kids movie, but "*batteries not included" is something you should see.
  20. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

That's really a shame, because KOTOR is an excellent game.

Finished LEGO Marvel Super Heroes This game is a mess. The story is all over the place, and in all missions you are constantly switching between characters to alternate the super powers they have. It looks like this game was all about the large hub world which has tons of small fetch quest and other tedious activities.

Finally finished Grim Fandango \o/ I've tried to play the game a couple of times before using Residual, but never got much farther than the car basement. So there are a few really obscure puzzles where I simply tried every combination. Maybe I missed a hint, or maybe I didn't. Playing with the commentary was interesting, there are a few really great stories in the commentary. I did encounter a few very annoying game breaking bugs, and thus lost some progress. Especially the part with "this little light of mine" was annoying. I sat through it 3 times! Act 2 was quite difficult with the huge area and a lot of things to explore and do. Not a really great part to spread over multiple days without writing down what you were supposed to do.

Borderlands: Pre-Sequel This game is between Borderlands 1 and Borderlands 2, not just story wise, but also quality. It is much shorter than blands2, but it still felt long. Just like blands1 it did not have a lot of variation in the world. It's basically icy moon and space station. For the rest the game is pretty much like the others, just different levels and different enemies.
  24. Project Godus: Don't believe his lies

When reading the RPS interview were Moly was explaining the Godus project setup I had the odd feeling that I've read that before. And I have, almost 20 years ago a newly founded studio with the slogan "Design is Law". The studio in name was Ion Storm, and the Godus' like project was Daikatana. It's the same failure, the difference is just the party who delivered the money. For those who don't know. Daikatana was supposed to be the quick buck project for Ion Storm so that they could gather some income while working on their larger more ambitions project. Daikatana was supposed to be out of the door in 7 months, but eventually took 3 years. The goals were way too ambitious, too much things to be done, gameplay which did not work out too well, etc. etc.
