  1. Amnesia: The Dark Descent

afaik the cut is a more or less fixed 30%; so for stuff on sale valve still gets ~30% of course nobody will tell you; the steam terms are confidential and punishable by undead lawyers.
  2. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

    not within bounds of sanity
  3. (IGN.com)

IGN makes me angry beyond reason
  4. General Video Game Deals Thread

Some Halloween stuff going on on Steam. I already picked up Rock of ages for 6ish euros. Other great deals are Overlord Complete (1+exp+2) and Borderlands for 5 euros. etc. http://store.steampowered.com/sale/scary_sale_2011
  5. Renegade Ops

I don't think I can play this game for long sessions. Those missions are almost non stop action and quickly take up 30 minutes to complete. Really RSI inducing. So far I've finished 2 of the 9 missions. Great stuff.
  6. Renegade Ops

I switched to "tank steering" instead of the directional steering.
  7. Torchlight II

if they want to annoy me they should release it mid november
  8. My graphics card melted :(

Oo... I replaced a 8800GT earlier this year because it died. It was a little over 3 years old.
  9. Renegade Ops

    ok... bought; check your PM
  10. Renegade Ops

    Sure, no problem.
  11. Collector's/Special Editions

I'm prone to forking over money to get the Collector's- or Special editions of games. I've got quite a bunch of them (in no particular order): Bioshock Bioshock 2 Batman: Arkham Asylum UT2004 UT3 Mass Effect 2 Fallout 3 Darwinia/Multiwinia Starcraft 2 Darksiders Duke Nukem Forever Prince of Persia (2008) Machinarium Alone in the Dark (2008) Just to be clear on this, with Collector's/Special Edition I mean the releases that contain more than just the gamedisc, and also have a normal edition. For example "Jade Empire" only has the special edition, so that one doesn't count. Of all these special editions I have I think the Bioshock 2 special edition is the best of them all. The old fashion record containing the sound track really makes it more special than the others. I don't own the New Vegas special edition because Bethesda sucked big time and didn't release it within my reach of ordering one. So, what's your most special special edition? On a side note, by most special non-special edition would probably be Stonekeep (it came with a rather nice novel). Although the Crusader games came close: contained some company news letters and stuff (from the in-game world). Phantasmagoria is also quite nice with the rather special box it game in (in the Netherlands at least).
  12. Collector's/Special Editions

That's what I meant with "some plastic"
  13. Renegade Ops

ETA is still the 27th. So it looks like it is going to be final. Who's up for a 4-pack? It's about 50% cheaper than a single copy.
  14. Collector's/Special Editions

Quite some games I want to buy getting released with special editions the upcoming weeks. But what's with the prices and content!? - Uncharted 3 For 150 euros you get a wooden box in which you can put 19 amaray cases. Some physical stuff: the usual shitty statue, a belt buckle and a ring attached to a cord. And some MP DLC. The special editions only contain MP DLC, which is 10 euros more expensive than the "normal" edition. Of course, that's all RRP. Retailers sell the normal game for about 50 euros, and the special edition for about 70. The super special edition is still about 150. None of the special releases are worth the money. In fact, they don't really contain stuff that's really interesting. Where's a making-of DVD, or artbook, or soundtrack? - Skyrim This has been covered in this thread already. 150 euros for great stuff, and a statue. But 150 euros is 3 times the price of the retail game. The more simple special release only contains the map; no soundtrack, no artbook, no making-of. I'd wish they'd drop the statue and sell that edition for a reasonable price. - Arkham City Finally, a proper special edition with a proper price. Only 15 euros more than the standard edition. And for that, you get some plasic; sound track; art book(let); some batman animation movie; horse wallpaper; and some other DLC. So, I'm only going to get the Arkham City special edition. For Uncharted 3 I'll probably wait until there's an interesting sale. And Skyrim I might pick up the normal edition on release date, or maybe +map edition when I can find a good deal. I think this move to collectors editions for almost 3 times the price of the standard edition is stupid. Although, they will probably sell it anyway.
  15. Yes, but you'd also have to use a gamepad, which is sub-optimal for FPS games compared to keyboard and mouse.
  16. So you're willing to switch to a suboptimal gaming experience just to avoid EA Origin?
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

I wonder if this will freak out Jake: 51x_owzUkqE
  18. I'm not completely sure. But whatever king of bump/parallax/normal/displacement mapping is possible on consoles. Afaik they mostly work in the same way with additional textures.
  19. Torchlight II

And even the shitty wizard is more fun that Rage's dice minigame.
  20. That's because it's not just textures, but also displacement maps.
  21. Recently completed video games

Fable 3 Unless you're bored and it's on sale and you have a few bucks to waste, don't buy it. Fable 1 was quite nice "light RPG" game. But Fable 3 (the only other Fable to be released on the PC) is everything except that. It's barely an RPG. The game is terrible to bad on so many levels, I don't want to waste bytes to mention them all. Just read what I already posted in the [thread=7794]Fable 3 thread[/thread]. One thing I didn't mention before was money. This game has probably the worst implementation of money/economics. As soon as possible I started buying property, eventually I received a shit load of money every few minutes. So no money worries at all. Then, money became really significant for the game. The kingdom needed 6,500,000. Well... that's peanuts, I just donate that money out of my pocket. All choices I had to make as a king became irrelevant, because I was still raking in money buy the minute. The only good thing about this game is that the quests are somewhat diverse and worked out quite ok. My favorite quest was probably the one when you became a character in a pen&paper RPG game, played in the game.
  22. We had a great, nay... excellent run. But as I mentioned earlier, I'm bored in the current unlimited resources creative mode. Maybe if we'd switch to the concept outlined by Kingz I'd might chip in to keep the server alive. But that's a maybe. Specially with the upcoming list of games (like Arkham city, Skyrim, ...) there's a fair chance I won't even find the time to play minecraft.
  23. Movie/TV recommendations

I just saw Super 8. What a great movie. I really enjoyed the pacing. It felt much more like a scifi movie from 20 years ago than a movie from this era. It was also very unlike JJ Abrams usual work. The only thing that could make this movie better is some color. The amount of shitty camera effects isn't as terrible as with Star Trek. Anyway,...
  24. Unepic

It's very forgiving. There's an easy mode which has regeneration and auto-saving.
  25. Unepic

This game is great; played the demo a bit, and then bought the game.
