Wee... just got back from a 8 day ski trip. We had excellent skiing conditions. Weather was quite ok, first part of the week there was quite a bit of snow and wind, but still skiable. Best part was that the slopes were not busy at all, no really waiting at the lifts.

Did you know Fred and friends are working on a remake of LBA1? No? Well, they are.

It always makes me laugh when actors try to speak a language they don't really master to even a little degree. Kevin *****'s German in X-Men First Class for example was almost unintelligible. It's pretty much always funny to hear American actors trying to speak Dutch, or same something is Dutch. Also this: That's not a German Dark Ale. It's Grolsch, a good Dutch pilsner. edit: why is ***** also censored like *********?

I'm not sure if I will like permadeath. But the rest of the 19999999-mode does interest me.

Just saw The Big Year. I like these kinds of movies, they're rather simple, and easy going. Also, the birding thing is kind of interesting (and weird at some times). Even though there were a lot of birds, there was no puffins.

Google has a better index. From what I tried they both search on colors and don't try to perform feature extraction. I tried a screenshot form a scanned magazine image of LBA2, and google returned a correct result, but tineye didn't. Using google's result in tineye did give a result.

Oh come on... you don't know that? it's clearly Tony Tough 2: http://www.tony-tough.com/ j/k, I extracted the screenshot and used google image search (you can search using an image)

History of the Wolf Queen Vol II is clearly the citizen kane of TES books.

LOL @Orvidos no, my rating system has 3 options: (must play), (playable), (skip it). It's not a binary system. I'm unable to properly quantify game quality to justify a more fine grained rating system, just read the text that came with the directional thumb.

You're entitled to your thumbs. But my scale goes from to . There's no  or even

NightSky It sure isn't Knytt. There isn't really a story, just a ball that has to traverse some levels with some puzzles or some platforming stuff. Not much consistency, just a bunch of challenges.

Alba gu bràth!

That's why you have savegames. And actually... it doesn't matter because both sides have pretty much identical quests.
-
Hmm, ok. I only know him of the horror movies. So what non-horror movies from Miike would you recommend?
-
Yes, there are a bunch of quests that can be restarted. For me, 100% completion is having finished every quest path at least once. You can also see it the other way. It takes up to a 100 hours before the game becomes broken. That's quite an achievement of the developers. I think it was only a shame that I couldn't fully appreciate the things I could still do because I became too powerful. (then again, my character is pretty much a god: slayer of the world eater, archmage, leader of the dark brotherhood, hero of the war, champion of the companions, master of the thieves.) I don't know how much time I spend in Morrowind, but it's probably a lot. I think I became bored sooner than that I became too powerful. Oblivion annoyed the hell out of me with the tedious oblivion games that I at a certain point (after closing 20+ gates) rushed through the main questline and stopped playing. I don't think I clocked 40 hours in Oblivion. For Fallout: New Vegas I clocked 63 hours according to Steam. In that game I also did all and was sort of invincible. Fallout 3 was simply broken because the game had a hard end, and you could take shortcuts in the story. So anyway. For me Skyrim was (at least) twice the game New Vegas was. So yes, it is an esoteric "problem". I really doubt anybody would mark it down as a negative point for the game.

Didn't they release the source for uplink with the humble introversion bundle?

wait... Miike's making "normal" movies now? Must see that stuff, I'm usually not in the mood for Miike's obscure gory horror movies. Come to think of it, I haven't seen any Miike work since his Masters of Horror episode.

Skyrim Ok, I have not reached 100%, but I finish all the major stuff. The only things left to do are repeating quests and clearing arbitrary dungeons. I haven't restored the thieves guild to its former glory because that's just tedious grinding. And it looks like I'm missing a deadric artifact even though I did complete all quests. Probably a bug somewhere. Anyway... I really enjoyed the game the first 100 hours. But when you approach level 50 the challenge disappears. Even dragon fights are tedious. I clocked about 120 in the game, and unless the community releases some post-level-50 mods I doubt I will return to skyrim. Initially I didn't use fast travel, but after a while I rarely ever walked the total distance. Once you travel the same road a couple of times it becomes boring to walk the same path again and again. Bethesda shouldn't have made the distance between quest giver and quest point so large. Specially in the beginning you pick up a shit load of quests which all require you to travel quite a distance, on your way you'll travel past towns and people and pick up even more quests. In the end you have like 20 active quests and you sort of lose track of the backstory. It's also a shame they reused dungeons a lot for different quests. There was one place I cleared 3 times for 3 different quests, which is a bit stupid. Anyway, it was an excellent time-sink.
