I've done contract work for Epic on several occasions, but I've also been very active in the mod community since UT'99 was released. Anyway,I've seen the guts of UE1 through to UE3 @manny_c44 The UDK (the more or less free UnrealEngine) will eventually move on to be based on UE4. So you will see its technology is small cheap games.

Wow, that last part is really amazing. I've got 10+ years of knowledge of the UnrealEngine (down to the absolute core of the engine). And what they have shown in biggest jump in their technology so far. Besides the massive improvements to the editor itself, the semi instant "native" programming is absolutely awesome. Epic got rid of UnrealScript in UE4 and you're now writing C++ for the game logic. Or at least that's why I've been told. So that last part of the video, they change some part of the game logic in C++ which was compiled in the background and injected into the running application. That alone is an amazing feature.

That reminds me of "The Spire" in Unreal. -

So Scotty getting the job at telltale was the reason you donated $1K?

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube
elmuerte replied to pabosher's topic in Idle Banter
TableTop is great, makes want to play non-Video games. If I'd only had friends interested in that and close enough to do something like that regularly. BTW, YouTube sucks to watch a series of clips. -
Rock of Ages Basically tower defense with quite a twist, it's more original than most tower defense games. But sadly, the gameplay isn't worked out quite well. I won most battles with the same tactic: simply build a shit load of towers in a row and thereby delaying the opponent. Then it was simply a matter of passing by the opponents defenses and hit the door. After a while it becomes tedious to do the same thing again, and again. Steam clocked me at 3 hours for the game, and that was probably spread over months playing two or three levels at the time.

Watched the EA thingy... not really that interesting. In fact, quite annoyed by the PR buzz.

hmm... what a crappy thread title Anyway, Carmageddon: Reincarnation has resorted to kickstarter http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/stainlessgames/carmageddon-reincarnation I loved the original Carmageddon, but 2 and 3 sucked quite a bunch, specially because they introduced missions and stuff. I'm not sure if I would back this project. If it'll be like Carmageddon 2, I'll pass. But the details are a bit sparse. Also, again a game project that was already started long time ago. So it's not really a kick-start, but more a kick in the rear to wrap up the development. It's not a bad thing per se.

A sneak peek: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nqwfGqwJlGo Note that it's WIP and not optimized in any way. Anyway, looking good so far.

Yes they are, and how is the conversation creepy? I think the villagers are even more creepy. Also, why don't the villagers turn into zombies when bit by zombies? -
but what if that guy gets hit by a truck?

How did science get into this discussion of religion? Science has nothing to do with religion (of course you can turn science into a religion, just like you can turn a brand into a religion). But why is it that science always has to be attacked when religion comes into question? Science isn't a fact, it isn't a set of rules, it's a procedure into understanding life, the universe, and everything. Science isn't out to disprove any religion (if it does, it's purely coincidental). As for the matter of disproving the existence of god(s), for that I'll play my Pastafarian card.

I moved the final sign, and updated the last puzzle ( ). so the end point is no longer in plain sight. -

That's awesome to quickly transport stuff to somebody else. So, they shouldn't be used as storage, but as a delivery system. -
Just say that he's taking atheism to the level of religion. He's preaching and trying to convert people to his views. That is quite the opposite of atheism. You can qualify me as an atheist too. I would never call myself an atheist as that would put me into a group of people with similar views. I don't shy away to make jokes about people's religion (if they can take it), or tell people how I honestly think about their religion. But you shouldn't try to convince people to change their views, that's simply wrong, it's religious. Edit: hmm... I sense some irony in my post

D'oh. Didn't see that at all. I blame work, have been busy from 07:00 till 22:00ish yesterday.

Damn... it's quite difficult to come up with games you can play with only 1 hand and don't require twitch reactions. Remind me not to loose a hand. Games you can play with one hand on a keyboard or with just a mouse and don't require twitching: - Edge - Frozen Synapse (because it's turn based anyway) - Peggle - Plants vs Zombies - any of the Trackmania games - Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP (part of the current humble bundle V).

My college is left handed and uses the mouse with his left hand (which I find odd, because all other people I know that are left handed use the mouse with their right hand) and I find it really difficult to operate a mouse with my left hand. In fact, the mice I use at work and my home workstation are very anti-left. Anyway... you should try Legend of Grimrock in "disability mode" (which was added just because a disabled guy asked for it). It will allow you to place the game with just your mouse: http://i.imgur.com/JgKda.jpg ( http://de.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/oxz38/gaming_vs_disability_an_immediate_and_awesome/ ) (Via options: "enable arrow icons")

Sorry, but I laughed. That's a slapstick classic. Was it your good hand or bad one? (i.e. your writing/mouse hand) Because that really sucks.

When you stand sideways, do people still see you?

I actually thing you should simply buy Humble Bundle V and pay more that the average. But... here's a Bastion steam key for anybody that wants it:

But it was not developed independently... indie is starting to become a big vague. Is a game backed by Indie Game Fund still indie?
