Knowledge of human genetics is beneficial for fighting against claims of racial superiority or inferiority, but what I'm contesting is your last claim of "race" being meaningless. We wouldn't be discussing it if it were so. There are layers and layers of meaning attached to the term. People have to deal with race every day of their lives. Confusing the biological definition of the term with the popular conception of human races only confuses things... unless someone first brings up science to claim superiority, in which case it's logical to use science to disprove that claim. Here's an analogy (this didn't turn out as clear as I wanted it): Say we were discussing stereotypes and opinions two neighbouring peoples had of each other. Obviously nationality is a cultural conception and stereotypes are unlikely to describe very many people of a given nation. Still, I think it's interesting to study these conceptions because they exist due to historical reasons and affect people's actions today. Now, someone comes in and says that according to biology, nationality doesn't exist and the people living in each nation are pretty much the same. This is technically true, but not very interesting and doesn't really have anything to do with the discussion at hand. It also won't stop people identifying with their nationality.

Correct? If we're discussing discrimination and identity, we're discussing the cultural construction of race. Science doesn't enter into it and it's IMO readily apparent that whatever definition scientist want to apply to the term, it only has influence in their labs. The cultural conception of race has existed far longer and has massive influence in everybody's lives. There doesn't need to be a basis in genetics when the reality is everybody lives through their lives with a racial identity.

I bought it back in 2006 and then forgot to post about it. I liked it because I could beat my brother in it. Also it's good.

A nice miniseries with four episodes would fit the book well IMO. Six seasons is laughable.

Oh! Uh, I didn't realize this was after the fact. Just my two cents, do what feels best.

Yeah, just buy an affordable card and when you upgrade your machine buy a new one that matches your CPU. I wouldn't do the SLI thing, because of how cumbersome having two cards is and because you can't know if even two of those cards are fast enough when you upgrade.

Yup. Brass Eye too.

Since I started studying English in uni I've been thinking of getting something that was either a direct copy or a homage to Anglo-Saxon art, like this. Actually, there was a period when Viking influences came in and the art from that time is very interesting and more suitable for tattoos. Probably on my arm close to my shoulder. Haven't gotten one yet, but actually that example I just found by googling is very suitable...

Kinect does headtracking? But that sounds useful.

Yeah, I was getting pretty tired of the show, which is why I didn't keep watching obviously. BTW, I didn't mean to imply the show was as bad as Lost, only that they suffer from similar faults. The show never seemed very coherent to me. Again, I think the show is unique, parts of it are excellent and it's definitely worth watching as long as it entertains you.

I stopped watching after the first episode of the second season. I can't remember whether the killed was found by then.

I just don't see it that way. The series has lovely individual scenes and atmosphere, but plotwise it's just incomprehensible. I don't know whether this is the case, but it seems like something they came up with as they went along. Lost is very reminiscent of Twin Peaks in this manner.

I would watch just enough to get a feel for the show and then stop. The actual story is not worth it at all.

Those buildings look exactly like the Glasgow I remember. And that message reminds of me of Glaswegians.

I didn't buy a damn thing. Nothing appealing enough or cheap enough.

http://www.arma2.com/free Multiplayer Arma is free. I'd love to play it, preferably co-op with thumbs. Maybe with someone who knows how to play and could inform me.

I think he was kidding.

Yup. Six years ago. It's really an achievement to go out of business selling fan crap for a massively successful fantasy book series.

That specific product has been banned recently (as has all candy that looks like tobacco products or such). He's lampooning the ruling by acting as if it's a controlled substance.
