  1. General Video Game Deals Thread

Apparently Zeboyd's games will just crash straight away if you don't have Windows Media Player installed. Whaaaaa...
  2. Resonance

Yes, unfortunately the game doesn't communicate this properly, but you need to advance the other threads before you can solve that. You'll get another item to search for from another puzzle.
  3. Sid Meier's Civilization V

I'd buy this in a heartbeat, but finding out that Civ V doesn't support multiplayer with mods was such a disappointment I'm not touching it. The game has some problems that the expansion doesn't seem to fix at all. It's a shame, because I'd love to get humiliated in Civ by you folks.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

I posted it in the Feminism thread, but I was interested in the comments and not Sorkin, althought that wasn't what people ended up focusing on.
  5. Movie/TV recommendations

I heard it's rubbish, but I'd like to decide for myself. It's not in theaters over here.
  6. Zombies...

Oh, it's not a comic, it's a book with a few illustrations. EDIT: Oh, jesus. I'm talking about that book and only that book in this thread.
  7. Feminism

Read this article: http://www.theglobeandmail.com/arts/television/how-to-get-under-aaron-sorkins-skin-and-also-how-to-high-five-properly/article4363455/ Then read this first comment from 'Timothy from Ottawa': This post isn't the most constructive, but this thread came to mind when I read that.
  8. Zombies...

Well, I liked the illustrations, but haven't read more than a dozen pages. I doubt it's very good.
  9. Zombies...

  10. 2001 a space odyssey....

I haven't seen him in like five years, so we'll never know, but I suspect he just presumed it was adapted in the usual way. I definitely feel the book is just another sci-fi book while the movie is a very special work of art. It's not the story really, it's how Kubrick approaches the themes. I suspect my friend liked "straight" adaptations that tried to preserve the plot as closely as possible. Hmm, it only now hit me how Prometheus' set up is inspired by 2001.
  11. 2001 a space odyssey....

I had a friend who called 2001 the movie one of the worst adaptations ever. That's not exactly how the movie and the book really relate to each other, though. When I read the book, I just felt it was kind of flat. Sure, it explained more, but exposition usually doesn't help.
  12. Feminism

Twig, I think the problem here is that that's a distinction you have made and it's not clear where the line is. An utterance can be both a (poor) joke and an insult, and it's likely most of those 'sandwich' guys think they're only joking. A campaign of harassment is just one big joke they can all participate in and so even better. So what people hear from your arguments is that it's okay to say anything at all as long as you say it was a joke, which happens a whole lot. That's not what you're saying, but that is what it sounds like.
  13. Resonance

Yeah, I agree. I just finished the game, really liked it. I think they went overboard with the party mechanics, but that's their time spent, not mine.
  14. Resonance

Yup. Also, there's an alternate puzzle.
  15. Resonance

I just noticed that according to the map Ed and Anna are on completely different subway lines.
  16. Resonance

I've done that fuse box puzzle twice, but I honestly don't understand it all that well. Maybe this:
  17. Battlethumbs 3

I could maybe play with Thumbs, but the game is a source of frustration for me. Thumbs make everything better though. Voice chat would be a must.
  18. Resonance

I wish I had a save file for the actual game for the last scene of the demo.
  19. Tribes: Ascend

I've been playing this more for about a week, and it was fun for a while, but just today I realized I had seen all the game had to offer me. These games never get more fun once you aren't feeling it anymore, no matter how many items you collect.
  20. Broken Sword 5: Legacy of The Something

I dunno, the Broken Sword remake (and everything else for years) makes me skeptical that Revolution still has it in them. But if it's good, it could be good.
  21. I want to take pretty pictures [of your face]

Saving up for my first digital camera made me quit photography for years. This was back when consumer digital cameras weren't great (I got a Canon S45), but it wasn't the technical quality that bothered me. If you want to enjoy photography you need good ergonomics (I don't just mean how the camera fits in your hand) and control over how the camera chooses the settings relevant to the photo. Whether you need an eye-level viewfinder or not is a personal preference. I do, others don't. If you don't, this will probably be excellent for you: http://www.amazon.com/Sony-DSC-RX100-Sensor-Digital-Camera/dp/B00889ST2G/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339900395&sr=8-1&keywords=sony+rx100 It'll also be small enough to carry with you every minute of your life. If you really feel like you need an SLR, this one will most likely have excellent ergonomics and more features for your money than similar cameras from other manufacturers: http://www.amazon.com/Pentax-K-30-Weather-Sealed-Digital-Black/dp/B0082OJ2VE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1339900383&sr=8-1&keywords=pentax+k30d Or you can just buy anything by Canon or Nikon that fits your budget, they'll be all right.
  22. You Bloody Idiots OR A Tale of M$

Orvidos, how do you know what the software you install does? Wouldn't that require access to the source code of each piece of software along with actually going through the source code?
  23. Xbox 720

That's everything I've ever hoped for.
  24. Tomb Raider

I bet it's an uninteractive cutscene. Just a hunch.
  25. Feminism

Because it's too damn depressing to mention.
