Just use the Levels tool to alter the white-point and black-point. Probably.

Yeah, sorry, it's been on my mind a bit and I guess I felt like sharing the pain around :X

This is great. I completely unironically love that this statement was uttered. It's wonderful.

You're right, there are too damn many cloying and emotional games around. Nothing wrong with making something that's earnest. And anyway, if there are a lot of comedic games, better to make something different. Man, I guess I have a touch more estrogen than most men or something, because I've always carried around a bit more boob than I'm comfortable with. Just enough to cause lovely body image issues when I was younger. It's actually more obvious now that I'm getting fitter than I used to be. Damn breasts, who needs them? Since I don't have a big boob fetish it's actually possible I end up with a woman with smaller boobs than me ;D

My cat, almost completely immobilized from pain and the drugs he got in the surgery, would just remove the cone whenever we put it on him. We couldn't come up with any way to keep it on him that worked. Otherwise he barely moved. Then he died.

W h y now, Fullbright? When you know I'm broke. Oooooh, all that money spent on a clearly worthwhile cause.

Just have the Snog PS4 and the Marry PS4. It's easiest to avoid the Avoid people if you don't friend them.

You can friend 2000 more people with your second PS4!

I agree, but it's not enough.

Empire Perspectives of Sid Meier's Civilization and other Historical-World Strategy Games
brkl replied to clyde's topic in Video Gaming
Ian Bogost is of the opinion that Civilization is basically the book Guns, Germs and Steel proceduralized into a video game. It's one prism through which you can look at world history. Whenever you make a simulation, you have to choose what to simulate and to what extent. And how -- other people will have different ideas about how the systems you are simulating actually work, whether they are systems and whether they can be simulated. The criticism in the first post is unfair. Civilization only models culture as power because that is what it is about. And don't tell me you can look at the world today and say culture cannot be used as a weapon. When you play a game like Civilization, you can think about what the game is doing, which parts you agree with and which parts you don't. I've been playing Civilization games since I was a kid and I never just copied the systems to my head, which is what Covic seems to be fearing like some UK tabloid writer. Even as a kid, there were many aspects of the game I didn't agree with. There are obvious ones that very few people agree with, such as a phalanx occasionally taking out a tank. But it's very useful when you want to think about history in terms of how resources or geographical position relative to bigger powers can affect a nation. You can also play a small culture and lead that to greatness, which is a fun storyline for a play session. Everyone knows that isn't how world history turned out. -
Yep, Bronson was great. But I disagree about Valhalla Rising. It's not difficult, it's just not saying anything about anything.

Yeah, I was expecting that. The film he did before Drive, some Viking thing, was artsy in the wrong way, as if it was influenced by MTV and Tarkovsky, ending up meandering, slow and superficial. I'll still probably give Only God Forgives a chance.

The Girl in the Fireplace would be my recommendation. But no reason to keep watching if it isn't doing anything for you.

Ooooohhh... I can't remember with SC2000 tunes I've already posted in this thread. There are such great ones.
-
Are you me? Gosh, that Grand Prix Circuit theme... I had forgotten that game entirely.

Man, I haven't said woot in ages. Woot.

If game developers could just walk into a bank and loan 3 million dollars, the industry would look quite different. There are institutions that do that and they're called publishers, who you pay back with your share of the money from sales.

As a backer, this only means I'm getting a game closer to my original hopes. Every dime they collect from people and put towards funding the game just gives me more for my initial purchase. It doesn't cost me a thing. Perfectly happy.

Man, I don't know why you worry about these things so much. You're an accredited teacher and from what I've read you've been well received during training. Although I know nothing about the situation in Canada, some school is bound to hire you soonish. Take a cold shower, go to the interview, take the job, teach the class, you'll do fine.
