You lazy bastard. (Looks better, though.)

My copy just arrived. From what I have gathered it seem that I'm not writing my master's thesis this spring after all.
-
I bet you would have hated escorting the prisoner back to safety yourself even more. Yeah, it's a bit dumb but is ultimately for the better, in my opinion.

I have advertised this many times before, but the narrator of the audiobook versions, which can be found on Project Gutenberg site, is brilliant. I think he has done all of the books, too. Be sure to pick the right version, though. Hint: he is not the one with the robot voice.

The first one almost definitely will not be released in 2012. In fact, it was mentioned somewhere that Beyond Good and Evil 2 will be released on next (next) generation consoles, which is a crazy statement to make. It's much more reasonable to expect The Last Guardian to be released in 2012, but the news surrounding the game of late have not been too promising.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 and The Last Guardian... Mass Effect 3 I will almost definitely buy at some point. I'm not as sure about other 2012 titles yet. The Witness may be interesting, and Bioshock Infinite has a chance to become the first game in the series that I will actually play.

Mycroft in the series seems to differ quite a lot from the original. As I remember, he is supposed to surpass his brother in the art of reasoning but is indolent and never gets anything done. Mycroft of the series, on the other hand, appears hard working and efficient but intellectually quite inferior to the password cracking genius of his brother. Then again, I don't remember the original Sherlock Holmes of being literally incapable of understanding human emotions, either. This does not bother me much, though. People are free to interpret Sherlock and pals anyway they like.

That's sounds pretty good to me actually, since I have not completed a single Sonic game yet. I'm glad that I bought this one.

Ok, let's discuss something else. So, ummm.. You liked In Time, no?

I actually would prefer not to have an overarching Moriarty storyline at all. My Sherlock Holmes was never about some criminal mastermind always looming in the shadows, pulling the string, etc. The way they have handled him so far (especially in Baskerville's) has been so silly that it would be better if he didn't exist at all outside that one episode. The series is somehow less depressing if/when Sherlock and Watson actually manage to solve the case by the end of the episode and that's that – no menacing laughter just before the credits start rolling. Other series are already doing great job at presenting the world as a shitty place where nothing ever gets better no matter what you do. God I miss Keen Eddie.

Not strictly related to anything at all, but this table is weird: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Irving#Recurring_themes

Now, that I have finished Assassin's Creed: [Generic Subtitle], half of Uncharted 3 and Batman: Arkham City, I have to conclude that my game of the year of 2011 has to be either Batman: Arkham City or Witcher 2. I'm leaning a bit more towards Witcher 2, actually, because it was such a pleasant surprise. I should really play through it again sometime. After all, I have missed what.. about 1/3 of the content altogether.

What a great game! The balance between brawling, silently taking down enemies and traversing/investigating is still almost perfect. Also, nothing in the game is nearly as frustrating as those optional advanced augmented reality training sessions. I'm not into Batman (or comics) so I didn't know most of the characters and wasn't that into the plot (it did its job, though), but I still managed to enjoy the game immensely. Harley Quinn and Joker were as lovely and bizarre as before. That "I'd bang that bitch to death!" stuff got a bit annoying at some point, though. Still, one of the GOTYs.

Much preferred the previous Sherlock to this one. I was actually hoping that Sherlock would not have gone to Dartmoor with Watson like he first suggested (Why? For the cigarettes?) and as is the case in the original story. The plot could have proved much more interesting that way. Also, an hours would have been quite enough for this episode - the script lacked that certain "tightness".

I've been happy with Canon Powershot S95 I bought 9 months ago. Very compact, high quality camera with RAW support etc. It's not the cheapest model available, though, and obviously doesn't compare to real DSLR. I wouldn't throw it into a lake expecting it to work afterwards, either. The current equivalent, Powershot S100, has GPS which could be nice if you need to know where you have been the whole summer.

There is some "I went to the village to confirm my suspicion" stuff going on in Christie's books as well. I guess they are more fair than Sherlock Holmes cases, but I still wouldn't stop reading before the conclusion to try to figure it out myself.

I actually thought the quick gadgets were context sensitive at first. the explosive gel, at least, makes crowd control a lot easier.

I know. It is also the day, it seems, that every Italian within 20 kilometers of Rome travels to Piazza Navona and starts orbiting the market stalls counter-clockwise. I thought was going to die. The restaurant staff actually had to barricade most of the serving area with tables and chairs and various other stuff so that the flock wouldn't trample those that were trying to eat. Is anyone here Italian? Can someone explain what the fuck was that?

Good! I apologize for all the confusion too. "Exaggerating the game's flaws" was again based on the review score you (I know, I know.. that again, but that was the point I was mainly disagreeing with you ). I would probably have (re-)read your post if I hadn't had other things to do (and being quite annoyed by the misunderstanding). I will definitely read it later. I won't promise to comment on it, as this discussion has continued perhaps too long already, but I might. No worries, this didn't ruin my trip. I'm just glad it got sorted out!

It did not occur to me that it could have been her imagination. What a bittersweet happy ending . By the way, and this has to be the hundredth time I mention Vonnegut on these forums, but that would be very similar (in tone) to the magnificient and somewhat haunting ending of The Sirens of Titan. I really should watch the episode again, it seems (although I do remember that quote now that it has been mentioned). I wonder how Holmes could have faked it. Faking the video ( ) was the first thing that came to mind, but then the ending would make no sense whatsoever unless it was all some kind of allegory (if that's the correct term). I guess the obvious answer is that he faked the aftermath, making it look that , but then the double checking ability of Mycroft's crew is very much in question. In my opinion, the imagination theory is the only one that would "save the plot" so to speak. To me it feels quite unlikely to have been the original intention, though (don't know why exactly). Throughout the episode I actually had a feeling that we would be seeing her again later (something that is backed by absolutely nothing, except maybe for the fact that she was, in some ways, so developed). Then I remembered that we are speaking of a mini-series series, and it may well afford to such a character.

Good idea. I'll just try to clear this thing first. Hope it works. I did not mean to insult or irritate you nor I did I mean to be a dick. I was not trying to tell you what you thought was wrong with the game either. I was simply using the thing you specifically mentioned in the post I quoted as an example (as I already mentioned). I replied to driving being "utterly pointless" in my previous post, at the same time raising the question how it should have been different – something I genuinely would like to hear opinions on. Perhaps "Driving is awesome but still realistic" was a bit exaggerated/wrong, but I didn't realize you would take it so literally/seriously. I honestly thought you deduced that I have no idea what you were talking about because of that one sentence I wrote. Your paragraph really read that way to me – I actually think you can see that too if you re-read your post. I'm really glad this is not the case. I think I read the entire L.A. Noire thread at some point and probably have a decent idea what you thought was wrong with the game. Nevertheless, I still think your grading of the game is partially affected by the (seemingly) very high expectations you had of it. True, mine are probably affected similarly by the negative things I heard on these forums, and the truth is most likely somewhere in between*. The reason I said I was bored with the discussion, was (a) because I genuinely thought you were implying I have no idea [...] because of that one tiny sentence, ( because we were mostly talking about two different subjects, © because I'm on a holiday in Rome and don't want to ruin it by arguing about things that are, after all, quite pointless and (d) because I was afraid it would turn into something like this. * But it is not 40+/100.

Suddenly, I'm in Rome. The city looks quite different when I'm not parkouring on the rooftops. Except for the Colosseum. It looks exactly the same.

Parts of it were, yes. I had a good time. Hopefully so. No. No. In some ways, yes. Unless those were the full reviews, I have no idea if the major sites overlooked the game's flaws. The average metacritic seems about right to me. Not agreeing with the score you chose was the point of my post, incidentially. I'm not one bit interested in the endless debate on video game journalism. Yes, that was a typo. I sometimes make those. Driving being completely pointless was the first thing you mentioned in the post I quoted and I was simply using it as a handy example. I was not suggesting that it was your biggest concern with the game. I'm sure you made the connection, but I'm glad you decided to take the high road of "I don't think you have any idea what I've been talking about..." No, I don't think I will go back and re-read what you have written, because I'm utterly bored with this discussion now. I was actually not expecting the game to be horribly bad, actually, because I couldn't take all that had been said before seriously.

My mind was very nearly blown away when the supposed RSI treatment article started "You must allow cookies..." It actually makes sense too, since you can potentially avoid some repetitive tasks that way. Only thing I know about RSI, is that you shouldn't risk it. A colleague of mine didn't take the warnings seriously, or so I have understood, and he had to pay for it.

For the cute nurse that works there. Seriously though, good luck with the operation bbX!
