  1. Return of the Steam Box!

I'm eager to try that out. Those circular touchpads could be a really nice alternative to the analog sticks.
  2. I'm intrigued by the name. Are you planning incorporate the actual UV radiation in the game mechanics somehow? You could, for example, use the fluorescence/phosphorescence to reveal hidden things in the environment, or use the destructive properties of short wavelength radiation not attenuated by the ozone layer and atmosphere as some sort of a threat or hazard.
  3. Return of the Steam Box!

    Steam Power Glove™
  4. Return of the Steam Box!

    But we want HL3.
  5. Return of the Steam Box!

SteamOS This could be quite interesting.
  6. Infinite Jest

Also, as was already mentioned before, re-reading the first chapter after you have finished the book is basically mandatory. God damn that one sentence.
  7. Infinite Jest

Infinite Jest was the first David Foster Wallace book I read. Now that I'm almost done with Vonnegut, I think I might as well go ahead and read every book in his woefully short bibliography.
  8. Infinite Jest

Definitely! Consider the Lobster and The Pale King are already sitting on my bookshelf and I'm doing market research on the best cover for A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again. I think I will tackle Pynchon's Bleeding Edge first, though. Possibly something lighter, like Chandler, before that.
  9. I Had A Random Thought...

Also, the Theseus's Ship link points to this thread instead of the Wikipedia article. I'm giving you a C+ for the sidenote. And I'm being generous here.
  10. I Had A Random Thought...

    What about neurons?
  11. Infinite Jest

Just finished this monster. Staggeringly beautiful novel! I'm sure some of the pictures that the novel paints will remain in my memory long after I have forgotten the plot, such as the aforementioned Joelle Van Dyne scene with smoke curling above the claw-footed bathtub, Gately in a crib under Herman the Ceiling that Breathed, and - strangely - Pemulis with a flashlight in his teeth climbing to inspect the struts of the ceiling whose panels have fallen down. Agreed. The various depictions of depression and addiction were downright soul-crushing, especially considering the author's own background. Conversely, the warmth with which he describes the AA is elating. Also agreed. Infinite jest is one of the saddest, most sincere books I have ever read. Most of the laugh-out-loud moments were of the hysterical-inappropriate-laughing-between-tragical-and-stressing-events variety. "Mind blown." -books.ign.com
  12. Return of the Steam Box!

No. It's pretty clear that they are announcing the controller one button at a time.
  13. Half-Life 3

I'm betting on some sort of a super 3-pack with Half-Life 2: Episode 3, Half-Life 3, Portal 3, Left 4 Dead 3, Team Fortress 3 and Dota 3. I hope they are not planning to include Alien Swarm 3 as well because that would mean that they'd have to release Alien Swarm 2 first.

  15. /presidentialtrackandfield was live and linked on the main site for a brief moment yesterday. Judging by the brief and somewhat vague teaser (no gameplay yet obviously) it seems that Presidential Track and Field, or Presidential: Track and Field, (hopefully just a working title) is basically Sportsfriends with Obama with a weird NSA and armed conflict twist. It was mentioned in the teaser that you have to beat Obama in a series of events in order to gain votes which suggest a presidential election or possibly legislation theme. Can't wait to hear more about the game!
  16. Return of the Steam Box!

Or one of those annoying inventory systems where you can never quite fit all the equipment that you need.
  17. Mmm.. What? This is going to be interesting. I'm excited!
  18. The ______ of Video Games

Apparently Pan's Labyrinth is "..a Citizen Kane of fantasy cinema".
  19. Upcoming books you want to read

The Bleeding Edge is the only book that I have ever pre-ordered. Looks like I'll be finishing Infinite Jest just in time for its arrival too. Glad to hear it's good (so far)!
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

I watched Clue yesterday, based on all the recommendations. I liked it a lot. I would probably never had thought it worth watching if it wasn't for your praise, so thank!
  21. Fez 2

Yeah, I don't know if something's going on with Fez 2, but I assume the Fedge thing was simply a stab at Tim Langdell* / Edge Games. * Ahh.. sweet 2009.
  22. Fez 2

Are you referring to that post from 2009 or something else?
  23. What is the status of this? Are you done or can we still expect new streams? How about a final disastrously ambitious, all-in, Nick unchained push for Irish world domination? Ragnarök.
  24. Movie/TV recommendations

Just watched Hellboy 2 for the first time. Surprisingly awesome! Reminded me of MIB. The first one was OK too.
