Explored every room, got all the upgrades, beat the game. I loved the art style and the atmosphere. I also liked the idea of headlanding, but not always the execution. I wish this game was less of an action game and more of a puzzle game (or more precisely that the action was more puzzle-y), because the combat wasn't very fun in my opinion. In many cases the firefights were too hectic and messy for me to take advantage of any of my cool upgrades, and so I just ended up semi-blind firing until my vessel died and then trying locate my head amid all the bullets and debris before it was too late. Still enjoyed the game quite a bit though. (Boo for not properly tagging the mp3s in the soundtrack!)

I bought the game and while it was downloading watched a bit of the Giantbomb Quick Look. This seems to be exactly what I was hoping for the next Blendo game to be, i.e. same style as Gravity Bone and Thirty Flights of Loving but with actual cool heist gameplay. Can't wait to play this tomorrow.

Idle Weekend July 23, 2016: Early Accessification
Nappi replied to Chris's topic in Idle Weekend Episodes
Speaking of, I would be very interested in a stream where Danielle and Rob try out a bunch of strategy games. -
The new Ghostbusters was good fun! I liked it quite a bit. That is all.
-
I bought the game after watching Chris play it, but still haven't tested it myself. I have to say, though, that I love the kinds of tips this game yields. Like little stories themselves.

Really loving Nick's artistic endeavors is Rimworld. Only he could make sculpture of Mom Riendeau studying colored lights, shaded in hues of black and black.
-
I think someone complained about privacy in Chris game, so maybe separate bedrooms is a good thing? I'm not 100% sure though.
-
The RimWorld streams have been amazing. Chris forgot to mention that after forcing Danielle's mom to deal with the crazy timberwolf and turning it into kibble, she felt so stressed that she, a known pyromaniac, decided to set the base on fire while everyone except for one hardworking teen were sleeping. He also made the crew butcher a human they had killed, so, you know, they are not just complaining about their ugly surroundings and cramped bedrooms; they have serious psychological issues to deal with. Seriously, watch those streams everyone.

This sounds pretty dumb. One would think that Steam could extend the reduced bundle pricing scheme to the Hitman Complete Edition.
-
The RimWorld streams have been excellent so far! Congrats Nick.

Watching the first part now, and I'm really digging it. The awkward love triangle is the best. This game seems really interesting, but like Chris, I'm not very interested about the raid aspect of the gameplay. How much is that stuff affected by the settings? And will the gameplay become too boring if raids are not an issue anymore?

Decided to try running after all. I was surprised by both how horrible the first time was and how fast the situation improved. The first time I went running I was able to actually run approximately half of the 10.5 km route (in pieces), and my legs were pretty much useless for the next two days. For some reason, it still felt good though, and so I decided to continue. At this point, I'm able to run roughly 90% route, with only occasional breaks to catch my breath and rest my legs. I feel quite motivated to keep running, and even bought proper running shoes today. Unfortunately, my ankles started hurting quite a bit after today's run, so I think I will need to take it easy for a couple of days (which is going to be pretty easy actually because I will be going to a friend's summer cottage for the weekend). Still, yay, running.

Watching Nick beat Soul of Cinder was amazing. I think this was the first time I saw the much talked about 100% internalization. Also, the heart monitor was pretty much the best idea ever. Again, I'm so happy that Idle Thumbs is back in streaming business. This stuff has been so entertaining.

Nice to hear that you were finally able to mke progress! You can create a bootable USB Windows installer on OS X with Boot Camp Assistant. However, I'm not entirely sure if it makes some boot camp specific modifications to the installer. I'm fairly certain that you can make a bootable USB drive using other mac tools as well.

I finished the main storyline today. This game is pretty good!
-
Jesus, this sounds awful. Sorry to hear that. My guesses would have been: PSU cannot output enough power; not all connections are made from PSU to motherboard (multiple connectors), hard drive or the graphics card; one of the RAM modules has bad sectors; or the processor overheats / temperature monitoring is faulty. However, it seems that you have all that covered already.

Thanks again guys. I think I will check whether there are any side quests that I still want to do before continuing the main quest, start Isle of Mists, and check whether any of the other quests fail. The missions I have left don't seem that relevant, so I doubt that many will fail (unless of course I haven't even triggered some of the quests). I try not to exhaust myself with The Witcher 3 like I did last year, so I think my best bet is to finish the main campaign, do something else for a bit (probably play Arkham Knight), then come back for Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine. I am level 25 and I have understood that the recommended starting levels for the expansions are level 30 and 34, so this plan probably works quite nicely even if I may be over-leveled for some of the side quests, right?

I first expected and later desperately tried to like this book, but ended up sorely disappointed. My expectations did not stem from the fact that the person in the front cover was Mickey Moused with Pulitzer and Andrew Carnegie Medals or the seven (!) pages of praise at the beginning of the book, but the interesting premise and point-of-view. What eventually made this book a bitter disappointment for me, though, was the writing and the plot. At first I thought that my issues with the style of The Sympathizer were a result having finished James Ellroy's ultra terse American Tabloid just before staring this book, but after 200 pages I was ready to accept that the writing and the narrator's tone were simply doing nothing for me. At least nothing good. I often found the author (giving him the benefit of the doubt here) narrator to be too clever for his own good, with many of the witticisms falling flat and some being downright gross, e.g. By the time I got to the paragraphs singing praises to feet (one of which was prodding him), my eyes were rolling violently. Well, at least the book made me appreciate Raymond Chandler's art of wisecracking even more. The plot was huge disappointment as well considering how interesting the premise was. Many of the major plot points felt unconvincing, e.g. the way the fate of the major and Sonny was sealed and how the right-hand man of the general was just sent back to Vietnam with handful of soldiers, and I couldn't help but feel that the author had a clear idea where he wanted to take the story (e.g. guilt, capture, and "re-education") but little idea how best to take it there. The story was stuck in a mud for pretty much the whole middle section of the novel, and the one time it temporarily got unstuck, it accelerated so far off-course that it was ridiculous. I appreciate a good criticism of Apocalypse Now and the depiction of Vietnam war in western entertainment, but not if it is integrated in the story this poorly. In general, I feel that I would have much preferred reading a collection of essays and short stories by the author, instead of novel where everything is squeezed together artificially. It wasn't all bad, though. I liked the perspective and there were some genuinely interesting insights along the way. The ending was quite good, and definitely made feel more positive about the novel as a whole, and somewhat hopeful about any upcoming novels by the author.

Ok.. one more thing. My next main mission is Isle of Mists. I am at level 25. I have gathered that this mission is the point of no return. How does this work? Will I be able to continue doing side quests and the expansions after finishing the base game, or should I play though everything else before taking on this quest? I'm toying with the idea of completing the main game now, perhaps playing something else for a bit, and then coming back to my pre Isle of Mists save and finishing the expansions. Would this work?

Ahh.. that makes sense. wait.

Is there actually a way to quick access the inventory on PC and XBOX controller? Holding down the button that used to be select doesn't seem to work. Anyway, the better inventory management and the quick access to the map have made this game even better. I think my biggest gripe at this stage is that the level up system is super boring.

Yeeeeess! Thank you for pointing that out. Game of the decade!
