  1. What are you playing today?

I started playing Sacrifice again, after I came across an old game magazine review of the game that stated: "The spells strike like an electric whip to the balls." Quite true, since you can actually summon up a volcano or the grim reaper himself later on in the game. And who can say that constructing manaliths, summoning manahoars, using sac-doctors to convert enemy souls, desecrating enemy altars and basically doing five god's dirty work, doesn't sound fun? I played the game a long time ago, but didn't finish it. When the missions got a bit messy, I paniced, and after I noticed that I paniced, I got scared. Got to try harder this time. Sacrifice also has one of the best "review quotes" I have seen, in the cover: "Oh my God. This game is awesome!" -Game Fan
  2. Cancel the Simpsons?

Should have been done a long time ago already...
  3. What are you playing today?

Extremely. Dan! Da! Dan! (probably the best game name ever) and Grid Wars were great. Warning Forever was nice too, but I didn't enjoy it as much. What am I supposed to do with the third "boss" in Dan! Da! Dan!, btw? The white square with a red circle in the center. Do I just have to shoot it for five minutes, or is there an easier way to kill it?
  4. What are you playing today?

Wrestlevania: Huge thanks for the suggestions! I haven't really played that many shoot'em ups (basically just Space Tripper and ABA games) so they were all new to me. It's hard to know which ones are good cause there are so many of them on the internet. I'm not completely sure why I started playing these games, but I love it when I reach the point where my brain no longer knows what my fingers are doing. I still suck though.
  5. What are you playing today?

OK. rRootage's IKA(ruga) mode seriously kicks ass. Basically you just fight these large boss ships which shoot you with red and white bullets. While your ship is white you can shoot white bullets back at the boss, but the red ones can kill you. Vice versa when you're red. I love the parts where the red and white bullets make patterns you have follow. Haven't tried the other modes yet, but they seem interesting too.
  6. What are you playing today?

A while ago I finally beat Noiz2sa, so I will probably be playing some other ABA game today. I'm not sure why, but in my opinion the game was insanely beautiful and extremely fun. I'm also interested in trying Perfect Cherry Blossom (mainly because of this screenshot in Wikipedia's Shoot'em up article), but I am yet to find a version that works (I suspect that my zip program doesn't work correctly with .lzh files).
  7. The World Cup hate thread

I'm not a fan of Portugal, heck, I don't even watch football, but I'm quite happy that they won. I will go to Azores on Monday, and I imagine the locals will be pretty cheerful because of the victory. At least until Wednesday..
  8. Post You Pic Thread

    Don't worry, it's perfectly normal.
  9. I'm starting to dislike used game stores.

So far the clerks have only given me positive feedback about the games I am trying to buy. Usually they don't say anything and just do their job, but sometimes they kindly inform me that I have made a good choice (like when buying Grim Fandango or No One Lives Forever 2). I wouldn't listen to them, though, if they adviced me not to buy the game I was going to or suggested me to choose another one instead, because I usually read a lot of reviews and try the demos (if possible) before my decision. Nowadays I tend to buy my games from alienating hypermarkets (if the game is new and popular) or from internet stores (if the game is old and unpopular). I haven't really had any problems with these ones either, except for the time I got two copies of Sid Meier's Pirates! for the price of one. I had to pay 1,10€ (the price of the envelope) for being honest.
  10. DS Lite

Powerpuff girls are definitely cool. Last April Fool's day I had to redesign a webpage to make it look like a Powerpuff site. Some even took it seriously. I would probably choose a black or white DS Lite without any stickers, though. Lame.
  11. Snakes on a Plane (and Gnarls Barkley)

Ok.. But at least it's something pretty similar.
  12. I like the way they were able to take the age-old story about a boy who discovers that the irc-bot he has been worshipping for so long is actually a real girl, and bring it back to life in a form of euro dance song. "In my eyes you are still a bot." So sad and beautiful at the same time.
  13. Snakes on a Plane (and Gnarls Barkley)

I'm confused. Why would someone choose to kill snakes on a plane with some kind of harpoon. (Except for the obvious reason that he is Samuel L. Jackson and he can do whatever he wants.)
  14. Steam - Why do you hate/dislike it so much?

Yeah. I should have said I tried playing single player HL2 in order to make my complaint more justified, but that wasn't the case this time. Installing Half Life 2 was one of the most frustrating experiences I have ever had with software. It wasn't hard or anything, but damn it was annoying to realize that "No, I still can't play the game, Steam is performing an update. I thought it did that already?" As I already said, or was supposed to say, I can live with Steam. But I sure hope that in the future each company won't have their own equivalent for steam.
  15. Steam - Why do you hate/dislike it so much?

A couple of days ago, I was bored and decided to try Counter Strike (which I hadn't played for a long time) before I had to go somewhere. I opened Steam and it started updating itself and all the games, which took over 20 minutes. When it was finally ready, I actually didn't have time to play anymore. That and the program being kinda heavy are my only complaints about Steam. Haven't tried downloading or buying games with it, though, and don't even use it that much.
  16. Consolevania 2.6 released

In Monty Python and the Holy Grail DVD one of the subtitle options is Shakespeare's Henry IV, part two, if I remember correctly. I haven't tried it yet, but I have a feeling that it won't sync very well. I have always found Scottish accent freaking hilarious. I was able to understand what they said only when I completely focused on listening to them, but the moment I got even a little distracted their talking started to sound like something that was certainly not English or even half-English. The show seems to be very good, although I didn't have time to watch the whole episode. for the music.
  17. DS Lite

I usually don't care about the appearance of the tech gizmo when I'm planning my purchase, but now that I think of it, one of the main reasons for Nintendo DS not interesting me at all at first probably lies in the fact that it looked pretty much horrible. IMO, it looks like something you should only be forced to use when you absolutely want to play the old Donkey Kong. DS Lite, on the other hand, is sexy as hell, and, to my surprise, I'm even considering buying it. (Probably won't, though.)
  18. Grrr! Double Fine's website is restricted!

Agreed. They don't even look realistic.
  19. Can We Save Planet Earth?

No, it's pure evil. You'd think the title would be something like "Global Warming: Could It Destroy Our Economy?" (among other things), but... well..
  20. Japanese Wii-price: 25.000 yen (225 $)

Completely forgot about PAL and NTSC. Well, at least I don't have to worry about whether or not I should import the console from Japan before the European release.
  21. Japanese Wii-price: 25.000 yen (225 $)

    Will Wii be region-free btw?
  22. Japanese Wii-price: 25.000 yen (225 $)

For once it could be that 250$ ≠ 250€ ...
  23. Japanese Wii-price: 25.000 yen (225 $)

It wouldn't bother me even if the final price was 250€, considering that it would still be less than the price of most of the good mp3-players. Internet browser isn’t going to be very important feature for me, but it could certainly be handy sometimes. For example, when watching tv (and if the device really doesn’t take long to start up), it would be easy to check things like “why is that guy famous?” on commercials without having to move from the couch.
  24. My First Review (Gibbage related ¬¬)

Me too, but on the other hand I've also heard somewhere that one is much much worse than two. What's the deal with that? ... Anyway, congratulations! I have seen the name Gibbage many times here in the forums, but for some reason I never took a closer look at the game. I probably confused it with some other game I knew wouldn't interest me. Now that I have checked the screenshots, it looks pretty cool. I'm going to try the demo tomorrow.
  25. Eurovision Song Festival

    Yey..
