I'm only cold on the inside.

Fast animals, Slow children I really thought (or at least hoped) that a television show called "Can fat teens hunt?" couldn't possibly be about fat teens trying to hunt. "Snakes on a plane" taught me nothing, it seems...

That would be a big plus.

I hope he/she is hot.

I'm not sure if using average groupie count (if that is what you mean) would be any better, as unskilled players wouldn't be able to contribute, however little, anymore. Instead, they would significantly cripple the smaller groups by joining them, which would undoubtedly take a lot of the fun out of the whole experience. For example, if I decided to join your group right now, you would probably be all , as I would most likely suck enormously. In addition, with this system, a group of three best guitar hero players in the world would essentially be weaker than a group with just the best player.

As far as I know, it comes with a four-port usb hub.

Depends on which rope you pull really. The video was pretty nice. A bit confusing but nice.

That is one of the most brilliant things I have seen in a while. And I have no idea why exactly.

My alarm bells started to ring when I was watching some gameplay demonstrations, and Jade Raymond (you probably haven't heard of her, but she has something to do with the game) said things like "Every assassination has like three basic steps. First you have to locate the victim, who is actually a really bad man, then kill him, and finally escape." and "Whenever you enter a new city, first thing you want to do is find like a really tall building and climb it." (not her exact words) Hearing these kind of comments felt a bit weird because, no matter how true and (when you really think of it) obvious these things actually are, promoting the game as being repetitive is not something you usually want to do. The repetition doesn't actually worry me that much. Thing that really stunned me when watching some recent footage (probably the newest addition to Gametrailers' long list of excellent video reviews) was the visual effects and the UI. It seems to me that those randomly appearing bright white DNA maps, the futuristic health bar, and "34/45 Templars killed" style objective images are potentially going to distract the player from the medieval atmosphere more effectively than a picture of Jade distracts some of the video game journalists (bloggers) from the game she is working on. What I would like to know is how often do you see those glowing texts on the screen? And can they and the visual UI elements be hidden somehow?

Just out of curiosity, how big is the Soda Poppers' role in this episode? I will still buy the season when I have more time but god damn I hate them.

Agreed, collecting mental vaults and emotional baggage was rewarding. However, getting all the figments is something that I will probably never even try (especially now that I know that the reward for completing the game 100% is nothing special). Even the scavenger hunt felt a bit dull to me..

Grim Fandango way is more artful and creative for sure. But to be fair, the game is set in the Land of the Dead which is unlike our traditional world in many ways. All of the people there are skeletons and dead already, for one. Brütal Legend, although set in a non-traditional environment, doesn't change things as much. Therefore, in my opinion, there is no justification for changing blood and guts into motor oil and guitar strings (or something that's actually creative). The game is basically set in this world (albeit in an alternative history). As for the violence itself.. There might not be that many heavy metal covers with severed limbs and rivers of blood in them, but the violence is very much present in everything heavy metal. I can't even count all the metal album covers I have seen that have an axe, a sword or something else that's sharp and lethal in them. And while axes don't kill people (rockers do), I don't think they are there with wood cutting in mind. Large number of metal songs have to do with wars, killing and plain good old-fashioned violence too. As It has been said a thousand times already, a heavy metal game with no violence wouldn't be a heavy metal game at all. The violence can't be handled that artfully either in this case. As Schafer himself said, if hitting someone with a giant axe didn't result in decapitation, it would almost seem like there is a bug in the game. I don't think that Double Fine should try to make everything in a different or "better" way than other companies just because they are Double Fine. Being different just for the sake of being different, will potentially only alienate players. To me, replacing violence (or resulting blood and gore, whichever bothers the most) with something else in Brütal Legend is much like saying "Ok, so this is a land of heavy metal, but in this land the electric guitars have been replaced with harmonicas. This is still very much a heavy metal game." Double Fine hasn't always tried to be different either. For instance, there was lots of collecting in Psychonauts, something that some people find most annoying in platformers. It wasn't even as rewarding as in some other games, and they could probably have replaced it with something more creative. The fact that they didn't, didn't bother me at all, as I was so concentrated on everything else they did so well.

So you have an ArrayList<Object> and you want to create an ArrayList<String> where the strings are determined by the objects in the first ArrayList? Or something else? Maybe something like this will work: ArrayList<String> newList = new ArrayList<String>(); for (Object current : this.listOfObjects) { String textToAdd = current.textOne; newList.add(textToAdd); } I actually don't know shit about coding, though.

I actually thought, or hoped, that you were exaggerating with those quotes. Seems that you were not. This game apparently also gets you "as close as you can possibly be to something that far braver people experienced."

Do that many adults actually want to play these kind of games anyway? I have always thought that games like Manhunt 2 are targeted to teens who think playing the most violent games or watching the goriest films somehow makes them really cool. Those who spend hours explaining how they watched Saw like, at least, ten times yesterday and then tried to kill as many hookers as possible in GTA, which is a cool game cause you can kill all kinds of stuff various ways, but the missions are like total crap. Well, I guess adults can truly enjoy Manhunt 2 too, but it's clearly not for me. The violence seems very over the top and pointless, and I kind of agree with the rating board's decision.

Yes I did. The important part in that sentence was supposed to be: For example, I think the length of the single player campaign in Company Of Heroes is just right, not too short and not too long. But if Relic had left all the defensive missions out of it (there are two of three if I remember correctly) I would probably complaining about how short it was, not so much because of the actual playtime but because of the missed opportunity (or something like that). "Is that it? Just a bunch of attack missions?" I didn't mean that developers should add shit to make a good game longer just because the gamers want more. Like already said, that would just make it a lot worse..
-
The shortness of a game only bothers me if (a) the game is actually good and ( there is potential there that the developers have left untapped. For example, it has been said that Psychonauts was way too short. I don't really feel that way, at least anymore (don't remember what I thought just after finishing it), because it offered so much variation and plain good times. But if they had removed, or even replaced, Milkman Conspiracy and/or Lungfishopolis levels, I would probably still be whining about how short the game was and begging for sequel.

I thought adblock plus automatically blocks all the elements that match the filter criteria. If you mean that you can't add a filter for flash ads because there is no context menu, just enable "Show tabs on Flash and Java" on adblock plus options. Or am I missing something here?

I'm trying my best to get excited about this game. So far the videos I have seen haven't helped.. The thing that I dislike the most is the way the game seems to be constantly trying to reward (didn't find one with a stick) you for you actions. This may sounds strange, but I actually loved the way Monkey Island didn't really reward you for most of your achievements (like how the pirates in the first game, if I remember correctly, didn't seem at all interested when you told them you had completed one of the trials they gave you earlier). I don't want to receive some kind of rubber-chicken-with-a-pulley-in-the-middle fanfare every time I pick something up; knowing that it will likely help me reach my goal is enough. Monkey Island made me feel like I'm capable of making my own decisions and do the right thing, whereas Zack and Wiki would likely make me feel more like a dog waiting to be constantly rewarded. I know it's not fair to say this based on gameplay videos alone. Plus, I might be exaggerating this a bit.. The main character doesn't seem very interesting to me either, and the game itself borders on over-cuteness. However, I really hope I'm wrong about everything I just said because I would love to love this game.

I really liked The Prestige. Partially because Nikolai Tesla and his strange (but not quite that strange) experiments have always intrigued me. I agree that the ending could have been a bit better, though. I should probably watch it again some day. The first time was in the army on a small laptop. Hardly an optimal viewing experience.

If you are going for a Mac, then it's either Macbook or Macbook Pro. If you are planning to use your laptop for gaming, then your only choice is Macbook Pro. It's a bit expensive, but you should be able to get two hundred dollars (or something like that) off as a student. Standard Macbook is very powerful too, except for the graphics card.. I bought a Macbook Pro a while ago and haven't regretted it at all. I have found that I can get things done a lot more efficiently on OS X than on XP (or Vista, but I really haven't fiddled with it enough to say anything). I have XP installed as well and I use it for gaming. It boots up fast as it isn't filled with all the crap that comes pre-installed with most laptops, and games like Company of Heroes and Team Fortress 2 run smoothly. For some people Windows machine will suit much better, however, and that's why I'm not trying to push you into buying a mac. For example, if you play games all the time you probably don't find that much use for OS X or get tired of switching between different operating systems. Some just plain prefer Windows to OS X. Macbook Pro is also outside the price range you mentioned (I think it costs 1800 dollars or something with student discount). I don't really know much about other laptops so I can't help you there.

I wouldn't quite call it a forum. I think Noyb meant the Wii number exchange and Half-Life 2 giveaway threads.

I was being slightly sarcastic. I like how the conversation we are having here doesn't seem to have any effect on new people coming here and posting their pokemon friend codes. I didn't know that having two different discussions in one thread could work this well.
