http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/50464 The Internet is starting to collapse already. Edit: different link. -
Jackson to direct Hobbit movie. Also sequal. Wait, what?
Nappi replied to DanJW's topic in Movies & Television
I read The Hobbit a long time ago so I don't remember that much of it, but would it even be possible to split that into two movies wisely? So that everyone wouldn't feel ripped off after the first one? I'm not saying that this arrangement is any better though. One movie would have been ideal in my opinion. -

From their arse probably. A bit more about the project: http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2007/12/its-back-to-mid.html I was super excited about The Lord Of The Rings movies long before they were released, and I can't say they really disappointed me either. However, I'm not nearly that excited about this announcement, probably because of all the milking that took place when the LotR movies were released. I will still most likely go and see these films but I'm not dying to see them. -

Direct? Apparently the first one is based on The Hobbit and second one is set between that and The Lord of The Rings. -

Hey, Fahrenheit won the best story award at Gamespot in 2005. Surely the plot was excellent. -

I don't believe it until I see it either. And even if the game doesn't scare the crap out of me anymore, it doesn't necessarily mean they have crossed the uncanny valley. They might have just limped back a bit to a place they consider safe. -
I love Twin Peaks intro. But why on earth did they use that font colour?

Maybe he is a professional gamer. That would explain all the money. And trying to help toblix.

I have always read the song title incorrectly then..

Some of those names are brilliant to be honest. Like The Asbestos Tampons, Those Fucking Unicorns and Happy Mothers Day, I Can't Read. There is a Finnish funk band called Eternal Erection. In addition to having a great name, they also have the coolest tour bus I have ever seen.

Agreed, that avatar is awesome. But how do we know it wasn't actually you after all?

There are actually three adventure games set in Discworld: Discworld, Discworld II: Missing Presumed...!? and Discworld Noir. Well, in fact five if you count the two text games as well, but who counts them anyway. I have only played Discworld II and Noir and neither of them is based in any one book. There are references to many of the Discworld novels, and it would probably be better to just say that they are set in Discworld universe. Discworld II was one of the first point & click adventure games I have played, and I love it to death. I also wish my friend who I borrowed the game to and who scratched the disc so that it wouldn't work anymore was dead. Hopefully ScummVM will one day support Discworld 1&2.

How sad. I like his style but have only read few books (namely, Reaper Man, Pyramids, Interesting Times, and half of Mort, which I didn't like that much). Seeing that there are way too many Discworld books for me to choose from, could you suggest some of them? I don't really care about the order that much. I kinda like Rincewind (probably because I got familiar with the series through Discworld 2 adventure game), but it doesn't have to be about him. Other areas of interest: gods, death, evilness, science. Not that keen on witches though. (Faust) Eric sounds interesting. Is it any good? Also, what are those science novels like? Thanks.

So by that definition, if all the manufacturers unnecessarily used harmful substances in producing a certain part of a computer, lets say the motherboard, Greenpeace or any other environmental organization couldn't, at all, use computers as a means of fighting or raising awareness of this? No matter how easily the problem could be solved if they did that? Also, I think you are a hypocrite for calling other people hypocrites. See how it works?

I actually loved that in HL2. At least I think so. It might be that subconsciously it was just the opposite. Not very likely, though.

There was something hypnotic about that video. The moment the thin guy started moving towards the other one, I knew what was going to happen and that I wouldn't like it, yet I could stop watching. The laugh was a nice touch though....

Meaning ? (I actually honestly don't know what that means)

I played Half-Life 2 when it was first released and thought it was very nice. I didn't ejaculate or anything, but still liked it. But it was only when I decided to replay it a while ago that I realized how polished nearly every aspect of it was. Still, I stopped playing it when I was over half way through, and focused on other games and stuff. Shortly after that, I bought Orange Box for TF2 and Portal, but decided to give Episode 1 a go. I soon noticed that I was actually really paying attention to what Alyx was doing and saying almost like she was a real human being. This is something that rarely happens when I'm playing and made me realize how excellent Valve actually is. And yet, I soon got bored playing with those glowing balls, quit, and didn't touch the game since. I don't know what is going on! In my opinion, Half-Life 2 is a game that does pretty much everything a little bit better than any other FPS game I have played. Yet, it doesn't manage to suck me in like some other games. It's not that I ADD gamer either; I have played through my share of rubbish games hoping that they would get better. It feels like the game is missing some tiny but, for me, essential part and I can clearly see that it isn't there but I'm not sure what it is that isn't there. I promise that some day I will force myself to play through all the Episodes.

You really shouldn't use the Internet when in bath. You might drop it and get electrocuted. -
Let's see. I've meant to complete Episode 1 & 2 ever since I bought the Orange Box, but quickly got bored playing with the super gravity gun and those energy balls in EP1. I'm also yet to finish the last brit mission and the entire na.. axis campaign in Company of Heroes: Opposing Fronts, although I really love the game. Super Paper Mario is also on hold right now because of the pure awesomeness in a form of Super Mario Galaxy. This is mostly because I have been really busy with university stuff of late and simply have had no time to play. That's why I am eagerly waiting for holidays. I never completed Beyond Good & Evil. I think I was on the last mission or something. Although I really liked the game in a way, I'm not sure if I want to play it again and finish it. It just gave me a feeling that I have already seen everything there is to it. I also bought Medieval 2: Total War cheap some time ago, but hardly played it at all. This is probably because I had played the previous version so much lately. I don't think it was a waste of money however, as I will probably soon get interested about Total War again.

On the one hand, these kind of cool features and all the interesting new games really make me want to buy an Xbox. On the other hand, my friend just got his machine back from the repair service only to realize that instead of replacing the faulty disk drive, they somehow decided to change the motherboard. Now, in addition to being a potentional disk killer, the console regulary freezes on startup.

NOLF and NOLF2 are still my favourite FPS games of all time. I loved the humor. The second one also had the best chase sequence ever. I haven't and I'm not planning to play FEAR, though, so this was slightly offtopic. I simply don't like "scary" games.
