I've been mixing this and Prototype up for a long time now and neither of them have seemed that interesting to me. I was somewhat surprised to find out this shooting-electricity-from-one's-hand one has gotten mainly positive reviews, but I'll still most likely pass on this game. The idea and setting just fell meh-ish to me. I should probably try the demo first, though.

"There is no uncanny valley any more," declares French developer

Interesting choice for a gameplay video as well, with 10 seconds of freedom of movement followed by 2 minute quick time event. Unless.. crap. -
I'll post in this thread to celebrate your birthday.

Seems very interesting. That puppy-griffin (puffin?)* design looks pretty bizarre, but mostly in a good way. I actually thought this picture was photoshopped to make a point of some sort before I saw the trailer. *I guess it could also be a kitten.

Yeah. Arduino. Which I haven't got either. Damn Swedes. Also, the boss had remembered me and everything was pretty much the same as before in the company. Yey.

Oh wow.. sorry about that. I updated the zip with correct jar files for linux. Processing creates applications for win, mac and linux but I forgot the lib folder for linux last time I made the zip. Not sure if it works any better now though.

I had the last of five exams in this period last Wednesday and have been just relaxing since then knowing that they all probably went more than well. I'm starting tomorrow in the company I worked last summer. I enjoyed it quite a bit last time around so I hope it hasn't changed much. There is a tiny chance that the boss don't remember giving me the job, however, since it was all settled on a phone last February and we haven't spoken since, but I'm fairly confident it'll be ok. Would be a bit awkward though. I have also been playing with Processing for a couple of days and it seems pretty nifty. So far I've only made this app (might work on mac, windows and linux. Press 'h' for help) to test the led matrix I ordered a while ago but still haven't got. It's only 8x8 and won't display too many colors, but meh, I can draw space invaders stuff on this.

That may well be. It seems I have forgotten most of the details about that game.

Say the player was to plant a tree.

I wasn't a huge fan of the actual gameplay in the original game so I don't mind some changes to it, as long as the game doesn't turn entirely into Mirror's Edge, which I just don't see happening. The area you could explore in the game was also somewhat limited and not that diverse, which left me wanting for more. Based on these two videos the player may actually be travelling a lot more in different environments. So all in all, the little we have been shown has actually raised my expectations for this game, although (because?) it seems that the sequel is going to be a bit different from the original game. One thing that worries me a bit, though, seeing the second video is the possibility of the cartoon thing where half of the cows being humanlike while others remain cowlike for no apparent reason.

There was this collaborative music project with multiple YouTube videos that you can mix together, but I forgot the URL so watch this instead: _MdJ0YvlUqU

I've only played through VII and most of VIII and back then was pretty disappointed for not being able to play all the Final Fantasy games that came out on PS2. Now that I have PS3 and the new game is coming out, I'm actually not very eager to buy it. I might still get it eventually if just to see whether the story and the characters with their ridiculous hair really feel as ridiculous as they seem, but I'm not expecting too much from it. That said, I'm one of those guys who is still waiting for Square to remake Final Fantasy VII.

Da Vinci Code was, in my opinion, a decent book for passing time when not taken too seriously. On the other hand, I can't think of any other book right now that has left me as angry and disappointed as Angels and Demons. Such a ridiculous mess. It's somewhat interesting actually, considering that the books are pretty much exactly the same in so many ways. Anyway, when I get done with modern physics, I'm going to start reading The Castle by Franz Kafka my sister gave me for my birthday. And after that I'll probably read Italo Calvino's Invisible Cities I gave her for her birthday.

Seeing the title and the poster I was half expecting to see that mildly disturbing picture of Tim Schafer and his kid with their faces switched. Those fake babies, and that video altogether, are way creepier though.

Actually, they were white before. Awesome work though, Jake!

Oh well.. at least there is the one OssK linked four posts earlier.

Just finished Einstein's Dreams by MIT professor Alan Lightman, a book consisting of 30 time related thought experiments (such as, "What if time was a sense?" and "What if time moved backwards?"). As someone who is somewhat interested in these kind of things, I must say I was reasonably surprised by how disappointing this book was for me. First thing I noticed was how Einstein's dreams weren't dreamlike at all. That didn't bother me too much and it was probably a better way to go than a poor attempt at surrealism would have been. What really bothered me was imagery of his dreams. At least a half of them involved either two lovers holding hands or a father unable to express his love to his child. A dream in which time stood still consisted entirely of a very very long list of those kind of touching pictures. I can see why the author put emphasis on emotion with this kind of subject matter but it all soon became overwhelming. On the other hand, and this is my biggest issue with the book, only a few of the 30 thought experiments were at all interesting. Of those, only one or two were actually "thought provoking". And, he missed the opportunity to make people crawl into their mother's vagina in the chapter where time moved backwards. I'll probably go with a Pratchett book next.

Simply another Fallout game? I'm really looking forward to this even though I still haven't even finished Fallout 3. I have spent about 80 hours in the Capital Wasteland and I think a change of post-apocalyptic scenery would do good.

Nice work! Also, thanks to you I finally know what I am going to get myself for birthday present: I'm planning to buy Arduino Duemilanove, a couple of 8x8 LED matrices and some other stuff and play with them through the summer. If only I had the time to figure out what I really need...
