Yes, that may be true. I was still able to complete the campaign in Rome and first Medieval using auto resolve all the time. Felt a lot harder in Empire: Total War.
-
The ending seemed hilariously hurried to me. As if they only had time for a 40 second climax or something:

I own almost all Total War games except for Shogun and all of the expansions. I'm somewhat looking forward to this game, although the Japanese setting is a bit foreign to me. I know some people have been hoping for a new Shogun: Total War for a long time, though. I played shitload of Medieval and Rome Total Wars, but I have barely touched Medieval II or Empire. It seemed to me that in Empire: Total War (at least) you basically had no chances of completing the campaign if you auto-resolved* all the battles (the way I played Medieval and Rome all the time). Or at least there a lot more casualties than there would be if you had played the battle yourself. I just find the real time battles slow and boring. It is a shame, because the turn based section of Empire: Total War seemed very interesting. So, I hope they fix that for the new game. *I don't want to derail this thread but does anyone know if there is a simple mod to make auto-resolving a bit more effective?

Mind blown. Found on ffffound.

You had to use the shovel like ten times in the game. It was weird. And there was the zero-G digger, too.

The Idle Thumbs Podcast Episode 7: Remember the Airfield

I hope the tapes for the recorded interrogation will be released soon. -
Finished Tropico 3 campaign yesterday. I liked it. Either I really grasped the essence of being a good dictator president of a small island nation at some point of the campaign or the game wasn't particularly challenging, as I was practically swimming in money in some of the later levels. Fine by me either way. The gameplay got a bit repetitive at some point and I'm not sure if the expansion pack is going to offer enough new content to remedy that. Has anyone bought it? Are there new mission types, for instance? Looking forward to possible Tropico 4, though, as this game was by no means perfect. I also just finished Lucasarts' The Dig. A bit :tmeh:ish but still entertaining enough. The atmosphere was great for the most parts but the setting didn't really do it for me. I liked how much digging there was in this game.

I also heard from someone that the new episode will be out tomorrow. -
Soundtracks for the video-games, and your most beloved ones
Nappi replied to Snooglebum's topic in Video Gaming
Yeah, it fits the game really well. There could have been a lot more songs, though. Perhaps even different radio stations. Just finished all 15 levels in the campaign and I'm a bit too familiar with all the songs and every piece of radio commentary in the game. -
Can anyone suggest an interesting (and preferably good) novel that has something to do with archeology? It can be pretty light on actual archeology since my sister already studies the field. The book would be for her birthday. Or perhaps something anthropology related...

Yeah, something like that. I think that someone at Ubisoft even forgot they had released the teaser trailer way earlier at that point.

Last time they made a statement about Beyond Good and Evil they told us not to get our hopes up too high for the sequel. Now they tell us not to worry. What a weird company.

Soundtracks for the video-games, and your most beloved ones

Ahh, the music in Grim Fandango was indeed great! Mafia had really nice, fitting soundtrack as well with Django Reinhardt, Mills Brothers, Lois Armstrong and so on. -
Thanks! It seems that the one I got after the horse catching mission was one of the better ones. Should have known by the way he jumped of the cliff and died just to be with me. I guess I should buy a deed for that horse so I could respawn it. I really wish Rockstar was a bit less subtle in introducing the mechanics. I have serious problems trying to read the text in the upper left corner of the screen if there is some action going on. My first duel was horrible because of that and since I can't read the log in my journal after game over, I had to read the explanation on dueling in Red Dead Redemption Wikia page.

Tomáš Dvořák's Machinarium Soundtrack. It fits, or sets, the mood of the game fantastically and works really well on its own too. XHPjpflNssY That is actually the only game soundtrack I own and one of the few I have really paid any attention to. -
Where? I haven't been to Mojo.

Poor choice of words from my part. I meant the auto-marking in dead eye mode. That is how I said goodbye to my beautiful horse.
-
Is there any way to tell which horse is better than the other? I assume that gray/white horses are better than the brown and mixed ones because they look cooler. I lassoed one a while ago but wasn't able to test my theory properly, as I accidentally shot three of her legs and finally her face in dead eye soon after I had tamed her. As a side note, auto-targetting is so fucking stupid in this game.

I have played the game for a couple of hours now and I'm mostly loving it. Exploring the wilderness feels pretty great and there has been enough variation in the missions so far (compared to, say, Fallout 3). This game really makes me appreciate the control layout in Uncharted 2, though. Changing the weapon in the middle of the fight, for instance, is just painful to me. I also think that the melee attack could have been assigned to different button than shooting. And R1 to make your horse slow down? I appreciate how my horse comes to me pretty much where ever I am when I whistle to it. Choosing the fastest route from the top of a canyon to the bottom shows a bit too much loyalty for my tastes, though.

Fuck. That awesome trailer is still the only video I have on my PS3 hard drive. I will probably have to delete it now, so that I won't be reminded how stupid everything is nowadays every time I open the console.

Although I had bought this game way earlier, I just finished it today. This is definitely one of my favorite puzzle games. I was quite surprised how strong the atmosphere in the game was thanks to strong soundtrack and visuals.

I just started working full 5 days a week instead of 1.5 days a week I used to do when I was studying. Feels good to be finally able to really get to know the colleagues now that I can join them on meetings, lunch and coffee breaks an so on. The atmosphere is really friendly. Also, I have a pretty bad flu right now. It's okay, though, I'll just read books and play video games for a while. Which episode was this?

Probably more like 2012. (I actually have no idea when it's going to be released.) Anyway, I'm 3 missions away from completing Tropico 3. It gets a bit repetitive after a while (apparently is a good solution to all your problems) but it has still kept me playing surprisingly long. It's not that often that I finish a strategy game for good. EDIT: Just completed World of Goo. I'm seriously finishing stuff right now.
