Having not touched a Deus Ex game yet (except for a demo of the second game which I couldn't get to work), this is exactly how I hoped Deus Ex 3 to be like: awesome music, gritty voice acting, ridiculous amounts of gadgets, dark atmosphere, etc. Even the color palette seems fitting to me, although I complained about it in the other thread (soon to be merged, I hope). I really hope this will turn out good, because I don't think I can force myself to play the original games anymore. I'm pretty sure this game will rape my laptop through all its holes though.

The only FIFA game I have played extensively was FIFA 99. It was easy enough to get into and the mechanics were pretty simple and intuitive. Seems that in ten years they have done the exact opposite of what all the other developers have been trying to do with their games. Lack of tutorials sounds fucking ridiculous. Maybe they removed it so they could put it back next year as a new, revolutionary feature?

Yeah.. exactly. :S

The thing you need to know about Russian OMON (special unit of militsiya) is that you shouldn't try to explain them what the mirror image of their name spell in Latin alphabets.

Broken Sword 2 was good too! Surely enough, there were some really annoying pixel hunting bits in there. And a couple of really atrocious puzzles too, for instance the one on the film set: What the fuck?

http://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7472 I might just buy this game after all because of the quick look, although I'm still not a huge fan of the band of assassins thing. I want to be alone in the shadows, goddamned.

That would be The Longest Journey.

Discworld 2 had a shitload of adventure game related jokes, mostly variants of "I bet I have to go on another fetch quest for this?" and "Don't you just love this sort of adventure game crap?". I guess they would have worked a bit better if you hadn't been on a constant fetch quest and solving typical non-intuitive adventure game puzzles all the time.

I actually thought the faces looked pretty horrible, especially that of the detective. Now that you mention it, the facial animation is quite good, however. It's probably the lighting then, maybe. Still, I'm anxious to see how this will turn out. I hope there will be some kind of video walkthrough soon, because I have no idea how this game will actually be played (and can't be bothered to read the previews).

Congrats Steve! That is awesome! Now we will just have to make Telltale Games move to different coast and The Idle Thumbs Podcast can continue.

I am not going to write a misleading title that will get you excited for nothing

Oh God yes! Psychonauts 2 confirmed by thorn! -

Meh.. There actually isn't much praise in the ones I saw (namely, Kotaku and Joystiq). -

Please do! -
Oh wow.. I thought the trailer below the description: "This isn't the only World War II film Boll is working on. He recently finished Auschwitz. According to Boll, "I made the movie because there is not one movie made what shows the Holocaust really was — a killing factory." was actually for that movie. Powerful effect. But yeah... horrible horrible stuff.

Ehm.. I subscribe to various gaming side feeds and of those only Kotaku and Joystiq seem to have mentioned the guy. Furthermore, I missed both of those initially and only found them by searching. I think that is pretty cool, however. The fact that 10 thousand (or 1 million or whatever) other Internet users might think it's pretty cool as well, doesn't make it overrated. I'm sure you can understand why some people would enjoy this sort of thing? Then why would it somehow diminish in value when lots of people enjoyed it? Furthermore, the fact that this has been posted on every game site ever some websites, doesn't make all those 1000 fanarts you think more deserving of people's attention any less valuable. People can get excited about a new thing even if it isn't the best thing in the world. I'm pretty sure he has spent enough time making those sprites to deserve his 15 minutes of fame (which is all he's getting, I'm sure). Certainly more than most of the accidental Youtube hits out there. I really don't think he has become the king of the Internet in anyone's eyes, like you are suggesting, or that people have gone crazy over this piece of fanart. To be honest (and sorry for saying this), I really don't even think you are actually nearly as enraged about this as you come across in your post - one just has to be more 'edgy' on the Internet. -

Nope. They will only be visible if you move the cursor close enough to them and will gradually get brighter as you get nearer and nearer to the hotspot. I had no problems with them at all.
-
Yes. Surprisingly, the game is excellent even without pointless and frustrating pixel hunting.
-
Did they improve voice acting and/or audio quality? That is my only complaint about Shadow of Templars quality-wise if you don't count all the glitches I complained about and listed below, which I don't because I'm pretty sure they are due to rushed Director's Cut edition or sloppy Mac port.
-
Finally a Kinect thing that makes sense to me!

I've played through about 80% of Shadow of the Templars: The Directors Cut and I'm enjoying it immensely. I don't understand why I have ignored these games for so long. Maybe because they seemed so boring at first glance somehow. The Directors Cut is pretty broken, though, at least on Mac: 'Continue' never loads your last save, most of the cutscenes end abruptly a couple of seconds after they have started, there is no way to exit the manuscript screen (except to click on the center area repeatedly and hope that the game would 'crash' out of it), and so on. Has anyone else experienced these problems? Is the sequel less buggy? Speaking of Broken Sword 2, is it comparable in quality (puzzles, story, etc.) to the first game? It seems to have gotten significantly lower Metacritic score than Shadow of the Templars. Is there really something wrong with it it or is it just more of the same?

Seriously.. I bet Andeas Osiander will make an awesome antagonist.

Maybe if one of you keeps pushing the other in lava on purpose. Co-op can actually make most of the levels easier because if one player dies the other just has to free him/her from a bubble and they can both keep going.

This wasn't the article I was referring to, but at least it is in English: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/magazine/6546209.stm

Yes, I read somewhere a while ago that it is just a myth that people need on average 8 (or 7) hours of sleep each night. Basically, if you are doing fine with just 5 hours of sleep it's fine.
