Haha.. that's great! I remember when Telltale Games was teasing their second game with a character silhouette. Everybody was of course hoping it to be a Sam & Max game and some thought that it kind of looked like Max only without the ears and his skull crushed to a new shape. And I was the first one to notice the Bone site in the friends section of the site... Which reminds me of another great arg. Bad Moon Entertainment's this-may-be-about-Sam-and-Max-but-we-didn't-say-that arg that never got anywhere (I think?). I wonder what Wolfgang Kierdorf is doing nowadays. Anyways, Bit Trip Beat is magnificent!

OK, could be. I actually have only played both of them quite recently and my understanding was based on things like Metacritic/GameRankings scores (and especially the review snippets there) and AdventureGamers reviews (which I didn't read but heard afterwards were terrible). My old magazines are somewhere collecting dust as well as scornful looks from my mother who thinks they are just wasting space, which they are. Circle of Blood (didn't even know it existed with this name) Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror

hihi. I guess, I had that coming.

Erm.. so how does this actually work? I thought having the game running equals cpu time. What do the game progress bars mean? And what do you do with potatoes? And don't say wrap them in aluminium foil, stick them in the oven and then eat them.
-
Yes. It was in the first one. Still don't know what was wrong with it in the original game (which I haven't played). The bee one was in the second one and I suspect it isn't fixed because there is no such thing as that infamous bee puzzle.

Like I said, I probably won't benefit from this at all, having pre-ordered the game from The Hut (lot cheaper than the euro prices at Steam), but I have nothing bad to say about their strategy. The release would be in a few days anyway. There is something beautiful about people all over the world playing indie games together towards a higher goal of being able to play a big budget game a little earlier. I want to see those numbers soar.

GLaDOS@Home I love Valve so much. I think it's great what they are doing for and with indie developers. Makes me want to buy a sack of potatoes even though I already own most of the games I want to play and won't gain anything Portalwise.

Broken Sword II got a bit worse reviews at the time but that was probably because it was "more of the same". I enjoyed both of them very much and honestly don't know which one was better. Broken Sword II is definitely not definitely better than Broken Sword I, though. I played Director's Cut version of the first game and the normal version of the second. The Smoking Mirror could certainly have used some of the improvements of the Directors Cut, such as highlighting points of interest. It also had one or two incredibly broken puzzles which are not likely to be fixed in this remastered edition.

I guess I just have a hard time separating which part in that video is parody and which is not. Normally, I'd assume that it is all a parody of Christianity and criticism of religious worship as a whole, but I guess that's out of the question in this case. As an "OTT pisstake of a view of Christianity" they have done really subtle job, because at least I can't separate their view from that which they are taking a piss on. Also, they changed practically everything in the song (including the whole theme) and didn't just replace "Friday" to "Sunday". I think that justifies it being called a parody video.
-
erm.. yes, ThunderPeel2001 I saw the word parody in the title. But I took that to mean a parody of that Rebecca Black video and not that go-to-church-every-sunday worshipping-worshipping "God is my friend" lifestyle the video is promoting. Of course, if the video really was a parody of that mentality, then I'd be very impressed.

Their website looks depressively legit.

If he isn't being serious, he must have graduated top of his glass in troll school. The other possibility is, he barely made it through high school.

American McGee's Alice 2! Or the Return of...they don't know.

She will have different costumes throughout the game. I'd imagine that different areas will have their distinct look as well. Those screens are probably from Mad Hatter's quarters: http://www.giantbomb.com/ask-me-anything-alice-madness-returns/17-3984/ -
That's so gay! I know what you mean, though. I think, for example, that it has been shown (heard this from a friend, so I can't provide the article or indeed check whether I got it right) that the apparent gap in math skills between the genders is mostly (if not solely?) due to the mindset that is planted on the kids very early on: "Girls are worse at math, but better at languages." When I was in elementary school, they had already moved towards "People often say that girls are worse at math, but better at languages. Well, I don't know about that" or "People used to think that girls are worse at math, but better at languages". Nevertheless, the notion was still there and both the boys and the girls got a very good idea what was expected of them: Don't worry if math/languages seem hard, it's because of that thing you have down there, you know. The effects are painfully clear when comparing the gender distributions between the two schools me and my friend go to (Schools of Technology and of Educational Sciences, respectively). Of course there may be other things at play apart from the constant force-feeding of gender stereotypes. Still, it's probably safe to say it has some role in it all.

For most parts the differences between the two word clouds are depressively unsurprising, though there are some interesting details like a complete lack of "fun" in the boys' list. At least "nice" is still there, even if it's only barely readable and just above "evil". But we know what it is all about: battle power special-forces friends

Sully Tentacle I presume?

To me, that seems barely more than Steve Jobs' random short emails level of connectedness with the community.

I just changed my pre-order from PC to PS3/PC. Still almost 10 euros cheaper than the PC version would have been on Steam. It may just be that (1) the game runs/looks crap on my laptop and 2) it will actually handle nicely on consoles, in which case I would have had serious regrets buying the PC version only. I'm really looking forward to Easter now. I'm not saying that a man getting nailed to a piece of wood isn't enough entertainment for a week but it's nice to have some variation.

Yup, I'm glad that I now know about this. Will delete my credit card details immediately. Also, I guess this is the reason why I'm now getting these emails:

I didn't know this existed until now and now I just have to see it. The Triplets of Belleville was such a beauty in so many ways.

But still not all?

I'd imagine Sandy Bridges being quite a bit faster than the current ones. Edit: beaten.
