    Misquoted.

Watched The Fly yesterday. Disturbing stuff.
  5. POLITICS!

Woke up to this picture after three days of May Day/Labour Day celebration and was happy that others knew how to have a good time as well. Only then did I read that a person was killed.
  6. Life

Hundreds of years of British rule and they still don't give a fuck about the Royal family. Appalling.
  7. Sony Shitshow

Just to be on the safe side, I guess. It can't really hurt can it?
  8. Sony Shitshow

They are saying they believe the hacker has your info, which, I'm sure, translates to "the hacker has your info." You are only defending how this is a PR disaster and not how this is not a security one. The fact that they find themselves in a situation where they believe that someone has your personal info (including email and password) and think it's possible credit card details have been stolen as well alone makes this a huge security disaster. Agreed, 100%.
  9. Sony Shitshow

How is this not a security disaster? Even if credit card details haven't been stolen, there is still the issue of those 77 million email addresses, passwords and address details no one should be able to reach ever. The email/username and password pairing alone is a huge problem.
  10. Sony Shitshow

I'd still say that the security failure is by far the biggest problem and not the way they handled the situation. That's 77 million users, for god's sake! If it really was practically impossible to secure personal data, we would already have lost them many times over through Google, Facebook (hah!), Paypal and whatever. Having said that, their handling of the issue has by no means been good. I would have liked to know about the possible loss of personal information immediately after Sony start suspecting it, in order to change my passwords on other services (although, I don't think I have the same email and password combination elsewhere). By now they should have sent an email to all the PSN users. How so?
  11. PSN ID exchange

I guess we won't be needing this thread anymore.
  12. Game reviews

Yeah, I watch Gametrailers reviews mainly because they require the least amount of effort. They usually offer a decent list of features as well as strengths and weaknesses of the game – and typically little more. The reviews aren't too spoilerific either, although I'd still avoid reviews for things like Portal 2. Giant Bomb Quick Looks give a good sense how the game actually plays and are occasionally quite entertaining. Furthermore, I use Metacritic to check if I have missed some hidden gems entirely or if some game has been an obvious disappointment. I can't remember when was the last time I have read a written review before my purchase.
  13. Life

Yes, the cities are a lot more crowded than the plane. From what I have gathered from my sister's stories, to maximize the changes of an enjoyable stay there you should avoid the megacities as much possible.
  14. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Hahaha! Indeed! I wonder if the music was original or added afterwards.
  15. Happy Birthday!

I was actually forced to try such a thing (although not as fancy as that in the commercial) because of my allergies. Didn't enjoy it too much.
  16. Happy Birthday!

    Happy birthday y'all!
  17. Portal 2

Holy shit! Can't wait to play this now. But my mom says I can't play video games until I work on my concentration.
  18. General Video Game Deals Thread

EA has some nice deals for the weekend: http://eastore.ea.com/ Thinking about buying Crysis 2, if only to have something to test my upcoming PC with.
  19. Good Old GOG

Oh oh oh.. Buy this! Buy this! http://www.gog.com/en/gamecard/desperados_wanted_dead_or_alive When the only way to save your friend is to kill or otherwise incapacitate every single person in the area.
  20. Buying a New PC

OK... so here's what I picked with very little research (as in selectively from "most purchased" parts of an electronics store): -Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.4 GHz -Motherboard: Asus P8P67 PRO B3 Intel P67 LGA1155 -Graphics card: Gigabyte GV-R695D5-2GD-B Radeon HD6950 2GB GDDR5 -Kingston Valueram 4GB (2x2Gt) 1333MHz DDR3, CL9 Some questions: Would I see a difference if I invested 50 euros or so more on HD6970? From what I gather it has about a hundred Stream-processors more than does HD6950 and slightly higher memory clock speed. Should I have more/faster RAM? Is it likely to be a bottleneck? What would be a reasonable output power range for the power supplies? Is 600-650W likely to be enough? Does anyone know a reasonably priced case that doesn't look like crap and is guaranteed to house the graphics card (which, apparently, is fucking huge)?
  21. Buying a New PC

I decided that I have excess money I have to spend somehow. I'm willing to spend a bit more on a PC that runs everything I throw at it well (within reason) and that I don't have to upgrade the following year. Say, 1200 euros or a bit more. Or less, in case it doesn't make sense to pay more. Haven't had the time to investigate this shit at all yet, and frankly, I'm a bit scared to do so. I'm guessing SandyBridge is the way to go? How about the graphics card? It would be almost solely for gaming (as I already have Macbook Pro for casual surfing and working) so I'm guessing I should invest in one of those powerful beasts that will heat my room close to the flash point within ours. What is the sweet spot in those? I'm not going to hook up multiple screens but it would be nice if the current (and upcoming) games ran well on native resolution (1920x1200). Would it make sense to have Windows and some of the programs on SSD or is it just a waste of money at the moment? Do I still have to worry about things processor coolers or are fans included with the processor?

This. The "True Finns" are the third largest party by seats. And the National Coalition Party is the largest.
  23. Movie/TV recommendations

I wasn't a huge fan of Sunshine's ending either but I don't know how it could have been handed any better. Cutting altogether would have been a very poor choice, at least. Maybe they could have toned down the violence a bit but I don't think it was that over the top.
  24. Realningu Japaneseru

I haven't tried learning Japanese but I don't see how English could pose a problem even if all the material was in English. And I'd imagine (based on nothing at all) that English is one of the easier languages to learn, at least for a westerner.
