European welcome back gifts, maybe.

I quite enjoyed the slow introduction of Assassin's Creed II. Except for the race bit at the very beginning which I failed many times because I couldn't figure out wall running (or something like that). They taught you how to properly execute it right after the race, though, so.. I'm getting a bit scared of The Witcher 2 actually. It looks like the game is freaking huge and has tons of mechanics, and the last time I really played a sword and wand based RPG was Baldur's Gate 2 (which didn't go well). The game guide will come in handy, I suppose.

I think money would give people too way much incentive to try to exploit the system. And they would almost certainly find a way to do that making online gaming even worse. The real reason I don't like the idea is that would never get a discount because I'm a dick I don't play video games.

I can see why! Those are very nice. Interesting titles as well.

I'd save my misanthropy for the truly horrible and monstrous things people exercise readily. Plenty of those to go around. Planking seems to be one of the more innocent distractions there is.

I like how they decided to film it against a dark cityscape. Makes it feel all ivory-towery and ominous to me. Kaz Hirai also has a perfect evil guy chair. I bet it rotates really smoothly.

I actually found the shift in tone in the last book (and to some extend, the one before that, if my memory serves me right) very interesting. It gave me the feeling that Dent has finally become completely and utterly tired of being the punching bag of life and desperately tries to escape it all by standing perfectly still. The ending of the series is strangely bittersweet to be sure. The Dirk Gently books are no on par with Hitchhiker's books, but I think they are still very entertaining and often quite clever. Holistic Detective Agency is the better one of the two by far, in my opinion. The BBC series (with Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine) made me want to read Last Chance to See but somewhere along the way I forgot to do so. I guess I'll be including that into my next Amazon order. BTW. I may have asked this already at some point, but has read And Another Thing...? Does it have any merit?

Yea. A very strange image of Australians is starting to form in my head because of all the videos and news posted here. It used to make a lot more sense: That planking thing is like a parody of every new craze that someone is always bound to take to the extreme and hurt either himself or others in the process, giving others excuse to deem the entire hobby dangerous. I guess life really is the best parody of life there is. And it's free!

So this didn't happen. Holy shit, it is a sweet deal! I mean, you get the game itself, making-of DVD, soundtrack, world map, game guide and some other stuff (all in a physical form as far as I know) delivered with little over 30€. Even if I end up hating the game, I can still play with the papercraft and the coin!

Oh yes. The Dirk Gently books are excellent as well! Haven't checked the others yet unfortunately.

Yea.. let's go with that.

Four of the other novels in Hitchhiker's trilogy are totally worth a read as well. You probably guessed as much already, though. I have read through the books two or three times now. The first time I knew next to nothing about the author. The fact that Adam's was an environmental activist, "radical atheist" and technology enthusiast revealed an extra layer to me on a subsequent read-through that was, for the most parts, completely hidden to me when I first read the books at the age of 16 or something.

Still down in Finland as well. Is the password reset hidden in a menu somewhere or will it pop up when the network is back online?

Apparently the name has changed: Source.

I'm suddenly interested in buying this game, although I'm not sure what it is exactly that intrigues me so (massive tits). The combat seems closer to Assassin's Creed than my image of every fantasy RPG ever (anemic sword swinging combined to frantic back and forth stepping). I think I'll have to wait for the reviews and/or some gameplay videos before I make my decision on this one, though.

I haven't played a Call of Battlefield Honor since Call of Duty 2 which I actually liked quite a lot. It used to be that I simply couldn't run them, but now I have lost my interest altogether simply because they are so many of them. I got Battlefield: Bad Company 2: Vietnam (great name!) with my graphics card, but it turned out to be just a non-standalone multiplayer expansion pack, so... After the Activision/Infinity Ward fiasco, I'd probably buy Battlefield 3 over Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 (although, reviews might affect my opinion somewhat). I don't know if that makes any rational sense, though. Nevertheless, I'm sure that MW3 will be Gametrailers Best PC, Xbox360, PS3 and best overall game of the year 2011, so congrats on the developers already.

http://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/showthread.php?t=7765 Yeah.. no downloads, no online play, no unlocking my PC/Mac version Portal 2.

Sounds like  to me then.

Just bought an AMD card (HD 6970) which I haven't installed because the rest of my computer is missing. Didn't AMD team up with Valve to bring driver updates to Steam a while ago? Did that help the situation at all? For a while now, I have done all my PC gaming on my Macbook Pro and up until recently updating laptop drivers has been a real pain in the ass. I hope it won't be too much worse with AMD drivers. Anyway, Brink. Looks kinda cool, sounds kinda flawed and I think I might enjoy it if I enjoyed multiplayer shooters. I'd love to play a co-op game for a change but I don't know anybody, and even if I did, my schedule (whims) is so irregular that I probably wouldn't be able arrange anything. Playing co-op with complete strangers, on the other hand, is just painful me.

I'm currently reading William Gibson's Pattern Recognition. Very interesting and fresh setting and I'm enjoying it quite a lot. My biggest problem reading it in English is that every once in a while there is a strange term that I don't know and have to look for someplace, only to find out that it's explained a couple of sentences or paragraphs later. To some extend, the same goes for character backgrounds and things like that. Mildly annoying but I can live with it.

Now, that's Scandinavia for you for real. You may in fact be in a Hell's Angels convention. It's ok, though. Just don't criticize their scooters. In all seriousness, many nordic people are quite into metal music and all the things that go with it, like tattoos and burning churches (the latter one mostly in Norway, though).

I played through a couple of missions of Blood Money over a year ago. Quite enjoyed it, but I couldn't help but feel that it would have been vastly superior if it had been a "new" game. Everything was so stiff and none of the actions were context sensitive at all. For example, I fucked up a mission three times in a row because I wasn't able to stick a syringe in a guard properly just because he was sitting. The mission structure, mechanics, etc. were excellent though, and I really hope they won't change things much for the new game. I want to finish a Hitman!
