  1. Deus Ex 3

Yea, I was briefly happy when my preorder price had dropped to £25,60, but then I saw the news on RPS. It seems practically impossible to find a boxed Augmented Edition that works in Finland (Does one even exist? The Edition Jungle on this one is insane). To make things even more confusing, some non-UK European retailers are probably selling the UK version.
  2. Deus Ex 3

Apparently, the PC version will be region locked for bullshit reasons. Seriously, what the fuck? I guess I won't be getting that boxed Augmented Edition then. Not sure if I want to buy this at all anymore..
  3. Steel Batallion: Heavy Armor for Kinect

Holy shit! How will we let this happen? I think the computers would be the least of our problems.
  4. Movie/TV recommendations

Just watched Natural Born Killers. Two hours more than wasted! What a piece of crap.
  5. Post your face!

    Does OssK know about this?
  6. The Witcher 2

I'd recommend you to buy it especially because it should be pretty cheap by now. The combat felt really good in my opinion and the overall package was excellent. Best game I have played all year, and I have played like two or three.
  7. Recently completed video games

Because that discounted indie game might be absolute crap. If you buy a good indie game then it's all good of course. Sorry for confusion. I liked the stealth but it could have been quite a bit deeper (ability to carry bodies or knock on walls to distract enemies would have been nice, for example). The execution system was clever and worked quite well. On the other hand, I tend to get frustrated with hardcore stealth games because the player is often completely fucked if spotted and I get spotted a lot because I suck the controls are so clumsy or whatever. At least, in this game you can blast your way through the area and try to make a bit less noise in the next. What were the most infuriating parts for you, by the way?
  8. Recently completed video games

Splinter Cell: Conviction turned out to be a very entertaining stealth action lite experience*. I seem to remember some people complaining how unimpressive the graphics were but the game looked pretty gorgeous to me. The gameplay was smooth as well apart from a couple of awkward control mapping choices. The plot was completely forgettable and stupid. To be fair, though, it could have made more sense if I had been familiar with Splinter Cell canon Universe. Also, Idle Thumbs 'casters weren't kidding about the bizarre enemy yells. They made sure I remembered the airfield right till the end! I'm not sure if I would pay full price for this game, but at the cost of a discounted indie game, you could do much worse (for example, buy a discounted indie game). * I should probably point out that I would surely have hated it, had I played any of the older Splinter Cell games.
  9. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

Perfect choreography. I bet they practiced that more than [something funny about Finnish ice hockey team].
  10. The threat of Big Dog

Oh God! Someone has finally beaten this monstrosity
  11. Happy Birthday!

Happy birthday Rodi! And congrats to everybody else who have had their birthday within a year too!
  12. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

Arkham Asylum is one of the few games where backtracking didn't bother me at all. The plot will have you visit many of the locations twice but it is all very well constructed and won't feel repetitive. There is no need to collect all the Riddler trophies unless you are obsessive about achievements or something. Some of the riddles are quite clever, though, and it was fun to try to crack them. Furthermore, the enemies don't respawn – at least as aggressively as in every other game – which was a very positive surprise for me.
  13. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Apparently their drummer is way too talented for the band. At least that's what my friends keeps telling me.
  14. Feminism

Yea, same here. I posted the smiley purely as a joke and because it has been unused for too long (thank god).

Very off-topic and just out of curiosity: has there been any estimates on how much the fact* that women in general** are perhaps more willing to admit, discuss and seek help for their mental health's problems (or the like) affects these statistics? I'm not claiming that it is necessary a big factor (or a factor at all), just wondering. * Not fact fact, I just don't know how to put it. ** Not all of them of course. God damn this thread.
  19. Feminism

Good point and very interesting example. I guess researchers studying, for instance, color blindness have been forced to defend themselves from such accusations quite a often (yet I have never thought of that before).
  20. So.. Batman: Arkham Asylum

As far as I remember, inverted takedown is the only upgrade that is an absolute must. Twin and triple batarangs are useful too as well as the armor upgrades. You can't really ruin your experience by picking up the wrong upgrades, which is cool.

You should check out Custer's Revenge – a beautiful, if flawed, game about forbidden love.

Well yes, insurance companies do all kinds of profiling but at least it's based on statistical data (of which they have lots) and not just gender/age/racial stereotypes. Sure, it's might unfair to those who don't conform to these "statistical stereotypes" but I agree with Thunderpeel, 'sexist' is not the best word to describe it*. I'm not saying that I like what insurance companies are doing. Hell, they might actually be feeding our stupid stereotypes even more ("I guess I'm expected to drive reckless"). However, as you said, they are greedy corporations and, as far as I know (and I know next to nothing about this so feel free to correct me), they can set the insurance fees on per customer basis. *Having said that, I think no insurance company would dare to promote cheaper insurance fees for a certain race.
  23. Books, books, books...

Thanks asshole! I hadn't read the bible yet. Still, working my way through the Tin Drum. Interesting read, but I'm not sure how many more times I can bare to be reminded what it smells like underneath Oskar's grandmother's four skirts.

Hahaha! I was being serious, though. I was not.
