  1. Deus Ex 3

That's how I play these kind of games! So.. um, how's quick loading? I'm hoping to get the game early next week, but I'm not sure if that is going to happen since the package was shipped only on Thursday and I have no trust on Finnish post which should handle the last 20 kilometers or so.
  2. Life

I have pictures. And they are.. ..high res.
  3. Life

Most likely yes. I had only seen the ones on Plug your shit thread and was completely amazed by the tone of the two of your posts that followed Kingzjester's European tour announcement.
  4. Life

Glad you didn't overreact or anything. Anyway, sorry about that and good to know everything is okay again. The whole discussion has seemed more than a little confusing on the outside.
  5. XCOM returns

I'm actually pretty interested in this game now. I really dig the 60's look (I think I even saw some color there somewhere), and some of the alien tech, such as the Titan, look quite neat as well. It seems that the tactical stuff could actually work and not be completely useless. Surprisingly looking forward to the new XCOM.
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

Damn. I forgot to suggest 24 Hour Party People.
  7. Movie/TV recommendations

I remember Old Men in New Cars being quite funny. Definitely very black at times, though.
  8. Books, books, books...

Um, did that come with a graphics card?
  9. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

Spotted it on one of those funny pictures sites, but apparently that poster, along with many other thought-provoking and totally scientific things, can be admired at Creation Museum.
  10. Like I said earlier, most, if not all, of the games I have stopped playing and eventually forced my way through, didn't suffer from "occasional design implosion" or "one shitty level", the developers quite simply ran out of ideas or lost the ball completely. For example, I got completely fed up with killing wave after wave of heavily armored bad guys in Uncharted 2 by the time I reached the monastery and simply quit playing. I resumed playing a couple of months later only to find out that I was expected to do the exact same thing for a couple of hours more in a considerably more dull setting. Not only that but I also had to deal with some stupid , as well. I'm not at all sure that many people quit playing for the wrong reasons, for instance, one particularly annoying part or mission type. If the mission is not representative of the ones before it, then it probably won't be of the ones after it either. If on the other hand, the mission is similar (in design or mechanics) to the ones before and you still find yourself bored, then what are the chances that the rest of the game will be awesome (especially since most games today seem to have all the interesting stuff in the beginning)? There are exceptions, of course, but it is often very easy to estimate which games still have something to offer to you and which don't. I don't see any issue in not finishing what I have started. I have no problem in admitting that a video game (or a book for that matter) that I have bought is not what I expected, quit and spend those 10 hours of my life doing something I find more rewarding.
  11. Hard Reset

    September.
  12. Glad to hear I'm not alone.
  13. Hard Reset

Yea, you'd have to sit through a grand total of one or possibly two such animations when starting a new game and probably none to one when you continue. I agree that constantly changing the settings could be a bit painful, though. Good reason to complain; crappy reason not to play the game. Anyway, I've been completely unaware of this game until now. Looks unexpectedly awesome! Not sure how I feel about the actual gameplay yet, but the terminal UI alone is making me want to play this game so bad. Here's hoping that there will be two great cyberpunk games released this year.
  14. I have eventually forced my way through a few games that I initially gave up on because I stopped having fun or something and almost none had anything rewarding to offer me apart from the knowledge that the game won't be mocking me in some dark corner for years to come. The final 2 hours of Uncharted 2, for instance, were very much more of the same, except a little bit more frustrating and worse, and the final part was just stupid. It actually made me lower my expectations on Uncharted 3 and glad that I never took it upon myself to finish Uncharted 1. I would think that most people are capable of differentiating between a boring or repetitive section of a game from a boring and repetitive game.
  15. Deus Ex 3

Ahh.. Didn't notice the one on the product description. I bet that those who canceled their order only to find out the next day that they shouldn't have and that they can't find the version they originally preordered on a price they originally invested are very pleased about Square Enix right now.
  16. Deus Ex 3

Yes, the publisher has confirmed this: They have edited the original forum topic to reflect the new situation and stated the same in customer support emails (one of which I quoted). I'm not sure if there has or will be an official statement because there probably wasn't one for the region locking either. Moreover, the Amazon page (that I linked earlier) states the following: If the game still ends up being region-locked after all this, it would be a dick move of highest caliber.
  17. You just reminded me that I still haven't played the last two episodes of Back to the Future: The Video Game. On the one hand, I usually stop playing because the game gets repetitive, hard, frustrating or boring, and therefore a single, two or three hours long episode would have to be pretty bad for me not finish it. On the other hand, the fact that I have to download and install each new episode probably makes me more likely to give up in between episodes. On the first hand again, I'm not sure if I would have been any more eager to finish BttF if it had been a single, non-episodic game and I had found myself utterly bored three fifths of the way in. I'm confused and I need numbers to guide me.
  18. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Excellent. Only slightly less disturbing than the official music video.
  19. BioShock Infinite

Is it just me or is the shape of here face slightly different in each new screenshot or trailer? click click click click click click Cleavage stays generous throughout, though.
  20. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

UPlay (?) is a fucking joke. I think Splinter Cell: Conviction had grand total of four achievements: Finish the first mission, finish the last mission, fully upgrade one weapon and something about clothes. The rewards were equally amazing. Highlights include a wallpaper of some sort. UPlay* falls eyebrow deep in the category "It's not DRM; it's a service! Honest!" I fucking hated opening SC:C on my PC, even though I quite liked the game. I guess this is the new Ubi Experience™. *I'm actually not entirely sure if the Ubi-DRM and UPlay are technically connected.
  21. Deus Ex 3

    Amazon.co.uk can confirm that: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Deus-Ex-Human-Revolution-Limited/dp/B004XH7HFC/
  22. Deus Ex 3

What the hell just happened: So, because I didn't cancel my order yet, it seems I will get the Augmented Edition at ridiculously low price of £25,60. Suddenly Square Enix is the best company ever.
