  1. Who thinks these game packs don't mix well?

I think the idea is to give the player a broad choice of games. So instead of getting three games of one genre. They can experience a plethora of different styles. So if thye buy a cheap triple pack with one game they think they like, only to discover that that a previously ignored category floats their boat... Flawed, I know, alot of people will probably not buy them, but I see the concept of it. Must play Siberia II on the Xbox...
  2. Please to recommend things?

Mate, I am so sorry. That game is genius (I played it briefly on the Dreamcast). Be patient, there have been several items I thought I could never own. Be patient, I had an 'idiot' (read: not really an idiot just not interested in games or spelling as they advertised it as 'Shinning Force') sell me shining force on the Megadrive for £6 (9-10 us dollars) on ebay. I also picked up a Saturn memory card for £9 (it is priced at £39.99 in the local retro games shop). Don't give up, just take your time!
  3. Nifty real-time water effect

It worked for Samurai Spirits and Zero Wing. Lailoken, I don't know about anyone else, but I delighted in the bad English, made me all kinds of nostalgic for the old school lo-fi games of the past. Didn't make me think any less of the dev team and their abilities to make a game. I'd never want to take the piss out of the translation, I had that too much when I lived abroad with kids taking the mick out of my accent and getting words wrong.
  4. Had that on the Game boy, like NBA Jam in relation to Basketball, it had as little to with real football as possible. It was sweet. I was going to name Sega Soccer Slam as my favourite football game, now I'm not sure...
  5. Please to recommend things?

You're life will never feel utterly complete without Gitaroo Man. It is like Parappa the Rappa with even more weird/funny stuff going on. Oh and if you get lucky with the (they vary wildly from country to country) price ICO would be worth getting.
  6. OK, *I* think this is hilarious...

Yeah Miffy I apologise for my last post, I think I had a point to make but it got lost in my hangover, and the fact it was my penultimate day of testing this game... Which it was decided I would be moved over to the PS2 from Xbox. The graphical difference was so bad it hurt my eyes, I don't mean that aesthetically I found them distasteful. They actually started to hurt the sockets in my head, the jagged lines of thin platforms wobbled every time you moved the character and I kept finding myself trying to follow them all (I spoke to someone who said it had to do with anti-aliasing or something like that), and it hurt. At that point I hadn't really thought there was much difference between the consoles (and in terms of gameplay this project was excellent on both) but seeing those migraine inducing wiggly lines endeared me to the version on the Xbox. My hangover just made my slightly vitriolic post worse, I think savage cabbage did the best job of listing some of the more interesting titles on the Xbox (did they mention Kung Fu Chaos?). And your observations were totally astute, although mildly biased to the GC (but with good reason), this is seems to be because that is the way that the companies want to be seen. Each platform has it share of odd little titles. Only Nintendo seems to be gleefully advertising them.
  7. OK, *I* think this is hilarious...

I looked a little closer at the list... How the hell did NBA Street Vol. 2 get on the list? I've read a lot of EA reviews on Gamespy, and they are never short of generous with their scores and support. Do EA sponsor them?
  8. OK, *I* think this is hilarious...

Yeah, I can see your point. Nintendo's exclusives own the competition. But, have you ever tried playing Rainbow Six on the Gamecube? The control system sucks, there is no online option and the graphics are atrocious. Sorry, adding this on top before I sound like a Microsoft fanboy. Nintendo's first party stuff, designed to work to the Gamecube's strengths are phenomenal (apart from Starfox adventures which I hated), it is just that, bar a few (Capcom) third party titles, most tend to suck. The Xbox's only defence is that it kind of shrugged at the lack of original titles, and offered the best console version of multi platform titles. Shit I really shouldn't have posted this, I'm so going to get burnt for it...
  9. Intro Sequences in Games

Soul Reaver's intro was brilliant. Total agreeance on that one Baconian, the story line made me play all the repetitive bits just to see more of it. I have fond memories of Chuck Rock on the Megadrive. The SEGA logo appears and Chuck Rock appears and hits it, it was the first time I'd seen something like that and it surprised me. The main menu screen had a neanderthal rock band that when you punched in the ABRACADABRA level cheat the drummer winked. Not mind blowing but set the tone for the game.
  10. Speedball on the Psone would have been good but they made one very big mistake (like capcom making the EO option the default on SNK vs Capcom 2), they took the skill out of winning. The original Speedball 2 had only one button that did everything depending on the context of the game. This meant that the player couldn't punch their opponent while carrying the ball. This simple logic made the player a defenceless target who relied on their ability to dodge attacks while carrying the ball. The flaw was introducing an attack button while holding the ball. This meant lesser AI and player teams got owned because it was possible to wade through the opposition. Thus all the fine balance of the game ruined in one foul swoop. Plus it would have been nice to introduce a few new teams, a world tour, more leagues etc. But the dev team royally screwed up by leaving the game pretty much untouchewd in that area. On the topic though... I only played Kick off on the Master System, and that machine blatantly couldn't handle it, poor little bugger.
  11. The Behemoth's Next Game

"I cannot wait for some 2D brawlin' action with Paladin's style. Looking like this will dethrown Alien vs. Predator as my favorite brawler." Was that ever released on a home console? I know there was one on the SNES which was absolute guff. I only ever played the rather awesome arcade version in the states... I would buy a new console just to own that game.
  12. I'm doing this as a last resort, because I hate posting on forums for this kind of stuff, but has anyone seen a site showing the original 'car-crash' advert for the first Resident Evil game? I've just read a short article in MCV about shock advertising and they showed a miniscule pic of a top down shot of a bath with blood in it, some splattered across the white tiles below the bath. I'm not even a fan of the Resi games but that image was so stark, that I think I would have bought the game on release, and then a copy of the poster after returning the game. really wanted to find a bigger version of the picture to print out on A3 as a poster home, if anyone can help me, I will be eternally grateful.
  13. Banned Resident Evil promo poster

Yeah I've seen reviews of that before (I think I might have seen some of it when I was drunk but can't confirm for sure). Like the fact you got the reference
  14. Banned Resident Evil promo poster

I didn't rate the game all that much, I played it on the Saturn for about two or three days and got bored... The point I was trying to make is that as an advert it didn't really sell the game all that well, and the cultural impact of the poster has been nil (or else I would've been able to track down a scan of it at least). But as a visceral piece of photagraphy, in my mind anyway, it transcends it's original purpose. I don't want it as a piece of nostalgia. I just haven't been able to draw my attention away from it and think is just a brilliantly visceral image. Incidentally I reckon the new resident evil film should dispense with the obligatory rehash of the foirst two film's plots and just show that image in the cinema for an hour and a half with a heart beat soundtrack and the director would be lauded as the new art house genius.

    My search continues...
  16. Scarface Screenshot Strike

Is it 'Prince of Persia attempts to be X-treme version of shadow of Wanda'?
  17. Banned Resident Evil promo poster

Really disturbing, but if ever you could call advertising art. Then this would be one of the forerunners, if only because it provoked such strong reactions in the public that it was banned when the game itself provoked little (if any) controversy. That image hits me harder than anything I've seen by Tracy Amin.
  18. Banned Resident Evil promo poster

Hopefully this has worked, should be a blurry version of it.
  19. Banned Resident Evil promo poster

Don't have a scanner... Wait I might be able to get a shot of it with someone's camera phone. Someone's in the toilet at the moment...
  20. Banned Resident Evil promo poster

That's something at least. I've been trying to find someone who even knows about this poster, I went as far as going on a Resident evil fan club and asked them; a couple of them had claimed to have seen it, but offered no links, then the thread dissolved into a 'I'm a more hardcore fan of resident evil than you' debate. Googling anything resident evil related brings up pictures of milla Jovovich (not complaining, just not what I'm looking for) and banned posters has brought zilch so far. If it had been as simple as going on Ebay or Amazon and buying it, I would have done... I just cannot find it. So any help? Or am I simply going to be reprimanded/laughed at? Don't mind really, just want to get in to the spirit of things and stop being as earnest about the whole malarkey.
  21. Banned Resident Evil promo poster

Okay... Have I commited some kind of faux pas, or am I just being mocked?
  22. MMO gold farming spam gourmet

Taking in the concept of roleplaying and the fact that some people take the online money stuff too seriously... My mate went on WoW as a female character, cybered with some guy for some gold and was a higher level character's girlfriend for a couple of weeks to blag free stuff. He eventually got bored and now plays console games. Go figure.
  23. London

Feel bad about saying this, but it all felt too convenient, like a justification for everything that the Labour government has been trying to get passed as law. Less rights for the general public, and more rights to get rid of immigrants (the 'Mr Muscle' of Britain, they do the jobs that all our dole/benefit scum should be doing). And it also seems to have shifted the focus away from Africa, where people (in greater numbers than those that died in London) perish every day. Apologies made now to all those dole/benefit people out there. And it was good to hear that Ben, Spaff and Nick were all fine. But it makes me worried for the possible situation of something akin to Martial Law during the Olympics in London.
  24. Excerpt from the Diary of Silent Storm

"Currently: Interstate '76" Man I loved that game, if only to see afros, do you know if it is available in England. Me and a mate used to play that online, for some reason the depth in the customisation has never really been seen again...
  25. Now this is a Sonic The Hedgehog fan!

Do it, you must, they'll never know.
