  1. I was having a really shit day a couple of days ago, then this news popped into my Inbox... Made me grin from ear to ear. Sony have decided bugger up the other launch. Oh and Ben, Sony may have made it clear that they intended to remove the chip, but they also seem to have made it clear that they couldn't give a rat's arse about a 'smooth integration' in Europe. I'm sorry, I also seem to remember a Sony exec bashing the 360 for not being backwards compatible. He should have kept his mouth shut surely if he'd known that the intention of his company was to do exactly the same thing. Virtua Fighter looks lovely though... Shame that isn't a first party game.
  2. That is true, that is why I have simply listened to persistent rumours, how about you Oath?
  3. Well the way it is looking they will definitely make stuff for the Wii.
  4. I Bought an Xbox 360 Today!

Errr... There was one for the Gears of War release, and another one on the week after christmas, in Canada at least. Obviously, the original price was reinstated, but significant price drops did happen. Could've saved 100 $ cdn on mine.
  5. It looks very likely to be true.
  6. XBox Live gamertag exchange

Currently listed as twmacb, frequently seen skulking around Gears of War, trying not to get killed by a chainsaw. I will not play multiplayer Lost Planet, never again.
  7. I Bought an Xbox 360 Today!

Not a mistake. There should be another price drop soon... All the same, Gears, Viva Pinata, Lost Planet are really worth playing, if you have the money and like any of those games. You should do it. I got mine three weeks ago, and haven't looked back since, just wish I'd had the commomn sense and bought one on Boxing day.
  8. The Cure For Cancer

I don't care what they cure, as long as I get my dialysis machine and they let me die in peace when the time comes (morphine please). Don't want someone telling me that I could 'have 3 years of perfectly normal life in that wheel chair'.
  9. Weird things

Thank you Thrik, that last paragraph provided me with one of the best laughs I've had all week.
  10. I got through about 7 pages of it, pretty rivetting stuff if you like one-on-one fighters. Like a lot of the people who posted on that site, I almost want to go back and try it to find out if it really was as bad as I remembered.
  11. Was that link supposed to send me to a page that said 'Your computer does not meet the technical requirements of Playstation.com'? Genius.
  12. PS3 actually costing LESS than a Xbox 360

Are you getting the HD cables with your PS3s in Europe? The two friends of mine who bught PS3s had to shell out 50 dollars each on (cheap) component cables.
  13. Isn't the PS3 region free? I might go and order a Japanese version off of Lik-Sang... Oh wait a minute. I live in Canada, I could buy one off of the shelves at the nearest Wallmart, just before I buy a few live rounds for my 'hunting rifle'!
  14. Weird things

I wish I did, I used to really like Twixs in England, I can eat ones in Canada, but the chocolate and caramel isn't the right taste. Which creates a weird Catch 22, they don't taste right, but to taste right they would have to taste of that mental image...
  15. Weird things

If I ever have the misfortune of hearing Steve Miller band's "Fly like an Eagle" (I think it is called that) at any volume, I get a seering headache. I cannot eat English Twixs because for some reason the taste of them is connected to the sight of this repulsive man called Howard stroking the unshaven hair on the warts on his chim
  16. That is a bit of a joke, as is this: http://goty.gamespy.com/2006/ Pretty much everything on here made me cringe, the top 5 Xbox games especially (apparently they couldn't think of ten, but then it doesn't look like they could think of 5) The reader's choice for PC sports game went to Need for Speed... On a slightly different note has anyone read E170 of Edge magazine? I forced myself to sit down and read the accompanying glossy 'This isn't advertising this really is a serious piece of journalism' and although there were some really nice ideas spouted, most of them seemed to involve owning a PSP. The interview with Phil Harrison (Head of Worldwide studios for SONY) so utterly failed to iluminate anything: Edge: Was it much more difficult to create the PS3 than previous consoles (sic)? PH: Yes and No...(sic) Edge: Do we need to reach a point where downloadable content settles at a certain price, so that gamers begin to understand a general cost of, say, a new car for a racing game, and so on(sic)? PH: Well, let's keep it abstract... There was side of me trying to shut up the Anti-Sony bias screaming in my head, and then there was obviously the other side doing all the screaming. An interesting side note was that neither Metal Gear Solid nor Virtua Fighter were displayed as part of the PS3 pride... Devil May Cry was, and has been touted as exclusive. I also didn't see Tekken there. Could it be too early in development for these? Or are Sony not going to make a big deal about the potentially non-exclusive titles?
  17. Idiots at work

Heh-heh A guy at work told me that a major source of violence and crime in Montreal was immigration. He referred to one of the asian kids that worked there as 'Sushi Boy' and then got sacked for sexual harassment. I think that it is pretty dim.
  18. How did you find Idle Forums?

I used to work with Ben, Spaff, Dan and Bob. Ben actually did my interview, I came in with a huge baked beans stain on my shirt, reeking of alcohol. Somehow I got a job. Spaff introduced me to the site, and I agree, the reason I keep coming back is because the articles posted here are good to read and the comments are often as good if not better. I don't mind that there is no new content, if you don't count the forums. It is just comforting to know that there are bunch of people who can write stuff that doesn't make me heave.
  19. Will 2007 be a good year?

I've got VF5, possibly a new Samurai Showdown game, Cardfighters Clash on the DS, Halo3 and a new Kingdoms under Fire game. Things are good. My girlfriend has taken a shine to Mr Driller on the DS, I can still get drunk whenever I want to in Montreal... Things are good there too.
  20. Very briefly, speaking as a person with Jewish heritage but very little connection to the Jewish faith, can we get upset about people using the Hakenkreuz and not the swastika please? Swastika is a symbol that in many religions of power/life and derives from two interlocking rivers that are meant to be an analogy for the broken circle of life. People who refer to the swastika as a symbol of the nazis should try visiting any Victorian house in England or if they fancy a trip further back in time, the ruins of Pompei that feature hundreds of 'broken circle' swastikas. The hakenkreuz was something Hitler subverted, along with many other ideologies within his preaching, drawing from many religious sources (the arian race were originally from the middle East, hence Smantha Mumba in 'The Time Machine' film), and thus exposing a whole load of hypocrisy in the supposedly anti religious facist party. I would get a Swastika tattoo, but wish to avoid the irony of being beaten up by people who probably come from the same roots as me.
  21. I've spent the last couple of hours plowing through UK Ressistance's site. The posts are generally pretty funny, and in ways I wish I'd read them a long time ago. But F**k me the replies. Are they serious? Are there really that many wankers out there? I know Yufster posted a similar thread awhile back, and I claimed to be as bad as the posters... I don't think I realised how ridiculous one can sound when trying to give head to a faceless corporation. It really is depressing to see the exchanges that go on between people that are probably verging on some sanity, resorting to the kind of bollocks they do UK:R, as far as I can tell is a very anti-Sony site (have no problems with that), yet people persist in writing this utterly unfounded Sony-based written felattio in the comments like anyone cares. My question is, were the people who read this site always such Sony lovers, and thus as far from the demographic as the site originally intended?
  22. Christ, please don't become too commercial

I have since realised that the key to reading UK:R without losing my wits is not to read the supporting comments. Just because they read a site that contains humour, does not necessarily mean they contain any themselves. TWMAC: Graduated second in his highschool class, then in 2010 founded a company for illiterates and married the girl of his dreams. He now resides in Winsconsin. Cue happy ending music and credits
  23. Navarro lashes out

Sorry, I did say almost anything. My condolences on the PSP ownership.
  24. Would you rather...

Can I be a dog like this? http://www.barbelith.com/topic/17324 If I could be all cyborged and stuff then that would rule, as for ownership... Well if I was that badass. I wouldn't have to worry too much. We3 rules...
  25. XBLA and Wii Store disappointment

With Assault Heroes, you have to play it on Hard, and you have to ressist the urge to simply restart from the checkpoint you were last at when you lose all your lives. All the achievements are reasonable too, loved that game, and I have to say it is the reason I want a 360, that, Gears of War and Codemned: Criminal Origins.
