Sorry to hear that, but I understand why that happened. Majesco really don't/didn't have enough money to release it and like Psychonauts and Advent Rising the game bombed in North America. If yoyu ever get the chance, Phantom Dust is basically Quake Deathmatch colliding with a card collecting game and it has one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard (Vincent Gallo does the end track to the game) it is well worth it and if you can find it it is under 20 dollars.

28 weeks later is rather commendable, it isn't a Halloween1/2 kind of deal. from what I've read and seen it actually looks like they have thought about it, and then tried to make a valid film rather than a cash in. Don't think it is rubbish idea and I am now looking forward to it after the preview.

I'm hard pressed to think which of the two actions was more prudent, having a dead goat at a party or encouraging Ken Kutaragi to retire. I seem to recall that every game Daily Mail bitches about goes on to sell very well regardless of quality (Rockstar have expanded quite successfully). Well done Sony, back to business as usual. For the Metal Gear Solid release maybe Sony, in conjunction with Konami, should have some major political figure heads killed by a cardboard box. I'd buy a PS3 for that.

SNKPlaymore are still making some pretty fine games, they have managed to keep a good team together and in some cases (NeoGeo Battle Colliseum, Metal Slug 4,5,6) they have gone above and beyond the old SNK frnachises. The problem is that they seem to have the same Marketing/PR group they had before, as they really dont have a clue what they are doing when it comes to actually selling games. Sure, you don't need TV ads and Bilboards, and I'm sure that is out of their scope. But why, why would you release a RPG/card collecting game for the DS in the same week as the Pokemon release? SNKPlaymore need to sack these guys as they've guranteed that about one person (that being me) is going to buy a copy of SNK vs Capcom Cardfighters this week. That is if I can even find a copy locally as no shop has bothered to even stock it (one guy told me that I couldn't pre-order a copy as they didn't know whether they were going to get any, ever). Pretty much anyone I managed to get to show any interest in it has now bought Pokemon diamond/pearl (everyone is hooked, it seems to be very good indeed). Come on SNK isn't even like you had it in development, seeing as it was out in Japan last December, so the only person I can blame is Japanese to English localisation tester.

Miffy, Thunderpeel = Full Auto is dirt cheap at the moment, also it is better balanced than the recent Burnout Revenge for 360. Okay, in a way it is more over the top. But one thing that I complain about a lot that FA doesn't suffer from is being unfair. On all of the Burnout games I've played (as well as a few other racing games) I've found the AI cheap, but I've gotten more than half way through the game and the AI in FA really do seem to be pretty indiscriminate over who they shoot instead of always gunning for you. I actually wrote a long, rambling, spam email to peeps that I worked with about Full Auto; it is one of those games (like Burnouts) that you just pick up for a bit get a few medals, put down and play something a little more substantial. The rewind feature also makes for a few less screaming bouts at the TV too. Miffy, Wrestlevania = N3... I wanted to like this game so much, but it suffers from really poor balancing. One minute you'll be cleaving through thousands of guys effortlessly, the next you'll come face-to-face with a boss who drains your life in seconds. Forcing you to restart the level, collecting all the same power ups, only to encounter another boss 30 minutes into a level and get killed, which forces you to do the level again. What was fun a couple of times becomes a chore. The graphics are pretty stunning, but the camera angles are bad. Also I found the achievement list really uninventive for a game where you can rack up 2-3 thousand hit combos. I bought it for 24 dollars cdn, used. I'm glad I didn't pay aymore than that.

Daisenryaku VII and Phantom Dust are backwards compatible too! Sweet, now I can finish them. Oh wait I'll never finish Daisenryaku as it is sodding impossible.

Okay I've had for a week now. And in between bouts of completing Enchanted Arms, getting further in Full Auto, and generally being shot in the face by some American kid who uses the term 'Your mum' without any sense of irony; I've been playing a lot of Virtua Tennis 3. I'm not sure I can say it is better than VT2, but I really don't care if isn't, because I'm very happy with it in its own right. The whole thing plays like a mature arcade game. Everything has that Outrun 2 sheen to it, the controls are simple (maybe a little too simple because you can't lob people for shit), but when a decent volley exchange ends with a perfect slice that not even James Blake himself can counter, I'm always left with a big grin on my face. Four player is genius, online isn't laggy, but everyone is so much better than I am, that I have been cast out from the Xbox Live circles Despite being shunned by my, err, peers I'm very happy with my purchase. What spiked my curiosity though is that a friend of mine, who is a big tennis game fan, said that the develpment of the PS3 and 360 versions were split and that a different team worked on PS3 ( as in not Sumo Digital). Does anyone know if this is true? That failing, has anyone played both versions and noticed any sizable differences?
-
I will download it tomorrow morning and let you know Oath, you have opened my eyes, when I return to England I'm going to find my copy of Virtua Tennis and play it four player (that is as soon as I find three other people to play it). Don't know why I didn't know this before.

Jack Thompson: VT killer might have played counterstrike

In the same way that the Vampirefreaks guy from Montreal was forgotten, so shall this guy. Quite frankly I couldn't give a shit. People die everyday. For some reason the west seems to think people care when it happens within our borders. And we encourage them. It just saddens me that we can so casually report deaths in the Congo, Korea, Iraq etc, yet 30 students in some place in America is worthy of news articles and forum space. Whatever. I didn't know any of them, if it hadn't been for the media who desperately search for something to publish, I wouldn't have known any more about it than I know about Cambodia, a country still dealing with the shit hand America dealt them them during the Vietnam war. -
Didn't know whether to post this as a separate thread but decided not to, Thunderpeel, fun games on 360: Kameo, I really didn't think I would like it, but it is like getting stoned. If you are clever about it you sit back and play it in the relaxed manner it demands. The game is easy, but pretty and enjoyable. No gangsters, no guns. Virtua Tennis 3, some people were not impressed, I think it is pure fun. Full-Auto, it is Burnout with guns, no grittyness here at all just arcade sheen, and ridiculous explosions of stupid. Viva Pinata, Rockstar tennis have already been mentioned. My other big delight has been an XBLA game called 'Heavy Weapon', people might be sick of the thumbstick to aim mechanics, it hasn't gotten old for me. Sadly, I'm terrible at rythm games so I cannot get excited about GH2, I'm so bad that I unlocked the Achievement 'Fail a song on easy' for my mate the other day and I don't think I'll be going back for more punishment.

Hmmm... Virtua Tennis is still genius, but it doesn't have four player does it? That has been the main appeal for me, I never got ahold of VT2 , so when this apeared it was a joy to whack into the 360. The beauty of the four player is that people really don't need to know how to play it to join in (although I'm starting to notice that I'm getting a lot better than some of the new comers) and actually win a few sets. PS3 doesn't have online features? How the f*** not? I've been unshunned from Xbox Live and am trying to get a permanent doubles partner for the ranked and player matches. This makes the game even better. The only thing that is disturbing is how shit the renders of all the players are. Henman is freaky looking, don't get me started on Lindsey Davenport. Wrestlevania, I'm tempted to download the demo to find out if it is shit, or whether you don't like the game.

Well that clearly can't be aimed at me, as UK:Resistance actually have a wire attached to several synapses in my brain and every time I spasm it creates a post... I actually come here a lot (and a couple of the blog sites related to this place) so that I can catch up on stuff I generally miss since my internet got taken away at work. Sure that means that my views are going to end up lopsided, but most of the stuff I use from the information, views extolled here are conversation points for work rather than ethos I live by. Yufster, you are forever outspoken, and for fear of being turned to stone by your glare/post, I find it easier to avoid confrontation than disagree with you. Not because of the wrath displayed in posts like these, but also because I really don't have a fucking clue most of the time. The same goes for quite a few of the people who post here, I find myself quite frequently out of my depth and rather than go 'I disagree because I feel I need to flex my flimsy intellectual muscle'; I just feel like going 'you have a graph? Nice one.'

Everyone I work with loves Rainbow six: Vegas. I really don't like it, but I'm definitely in the minority... Yeah the Wii is having a bit of a drought, and I hate to say it but the third party support at the moment is looking a little lame. Cooking Mama is genius, Elebits is fun, but it seems like a lot of companies really don't know what to do with the remote and are getting really lazy with the visuals.

Mario and Sonic team up for the first time in Video Game History?

Wasn't that the Mega/Sega- CD? The fact that snatcher was only released on two consoles is a crime. -

If doesn't turn ot like that them I'm not buying it. Tails could have John Leguizamo no probs, even if it was JL circa 'Spun' period. 10$ for a 32X? I'd buy it, but then that is because I just purchased Shadow Squadron and have no way to play it. I can understand the constraints on releasing stuff for XBLA, Microsoft are notoriouly strict when it comes to the maufacturing standards. Dan, it may be a Puyo Pop rip off but as ripoffs go it is pretty good. -

No, don't bother. It is pretty disappointing. The 32x's best game is called Shadow Squadron. I've a lot of love for that title. Incidentally, Ben, is there any chance that SEGA would consider releasing 'Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine on XBLA? If ever there were a game screaming out for Online multiplayer with Leaderboards... Well it isn't just DRMBM, but surely it is worth considering? -
Wrstlevania - Good to hear you aren't having any problems with PGR, dunno whats wrong with my TV then, I returned my copy because it was so bad. SNK vs Capcom: Cardfighters Clash DS has just been properly slated for the 24th of April. I'm even happier now. Virtua Tennis 3 is awesome, the graphics aren't great but it doesn't matter. My thumbs hurt so much from having played for 3-4 hrs every night since last thursday.

Sorry, I do love Sonic dearly, and couldn't resist the baiting. -
Funny you should mention it, I have to be really careful when I drink whiskey, especially the bourbon Jim Beam. For some reason that particular brand sparks acid flash backs. It is probably psychosomatic, but I really can't control it. The flashbacks aren't really an issue, most of the time, but the problem arises when I regress to the time I was convinced I was in the film 28 days later. A couple of Christmas's back I drank almost an entire bottle of Jameson's and then I locked myself in my apartment bedroom and stayed awake for 10 hours utterly convinced that Montreal was overrun with undead. I was extremely freaked out (you might have had to be there), and eventually passed out. The next day I was very embarassed. Omega Man is genius, it was back when Charlton Heston used to be in great dystopian future films. Now he just tries to bring one about by ecouraging the NRA.

It might be different in Europe, but in Canada they do go a little nuts when a big title is dropped. I expect they'll do something for Halo 3. Wrestlevania, you have there a respectable bundle of games, top tip, to get the most enjoyment out of Gears, play it on Hardcore straight away. The game is too easy otherwise. PGR3 I found unplayable without a HDTV, the text is tiny and alot of stats were indistinguishable from their background. Just a warning.

Weak, first we have the guy who helped make Ressistance: Fall of man slagging off both 360 and Wii. Now we have some dickhead turning his nose up at the Wii. For more insightfulness: http://biz.gamedaily.com/industry/feature/?id=15611&page=1

Not sure I can cope with this... On the plus side when Sega helps develop Nintendo product (F-Zero), the end turns out pretty good. Only two or three weeks ago I said to someone at work that it would be am act of madness if they teamed up. The world has gone topsy-turvy. -
In that case thank you SEGA and thank you Ubisoft. Little disappointed, it would nice if had had a big SEGA logo on it. Going on a SEGA spree on Thursday, getting Phantasy Star Universe (don't care if it is rubbish I know people who want to play it as a group), Virtua Tennis 3 (if it isn't broke it'll be great) and Armoured Core 4 (heard some dodgy stuff about this in terms of online but From Software haven't let me down so far). Also Tenchu Senran is floating about at the moment, if they sortout the dated control system it could be good.

What PS3 games exactly? At the moment they have about one exclusive one worth playing. I think everyone underestimates the importance of backwards compatibility. The amount of people who trade in their old consoles to get the newest one is pretty high, alot more people would be happy to to do this if they can play old games on their new console. I have several friends who lament swapping their Xbox for the 360, due to te large library of games they can't play. I appreciate the argument that it is emulation and it isn't a simple task. But seriously, Sony made a bad move not including the chip in the European version, people still like playing all those f***ing Final Fantasy games.
