Ahhh, so they had them in Fahrenheit and removed them from Indigo Prophecy.

Shallow (I prefer ill-informed), spotlight basking for sure, but whore? She seems to be totally against sex. I really would like to see how they would react to Fahrenheit, that has at least two sex scenes both quite easily accesible, and also encouraged (the characters become less stressed if successfully triggered). I remember my mind going 'Breast!' during one of them. Doesn't it even make you move the thumbstick/analog stick in time with the humping? Oh yeah, and of course there is always 'Battle Raper' (never did see if there were sex scenes in that one I got bored with the clumsy battle system and the stupid rubbing mini-games) or any one of the hundreds of Hentai games available for download.

If you are stupid enough to have bought an iPod and use it to listen to music via 360

Well, I'm guessing I passed out in the middle of a session, or worse went off on one of my ill-advised rants, who knows I might even have been in a ranked match. Those people take it very seriously. -
That's made me think of a SNL sketch they should make. The roles are reversed and instead of computer games it is women's magazines that are being called to point. You could easily reverse it: Female - Have you ever read the magazine in question? Male pschologist - *snorts derisively* No! Female - It is very light hearted and in fact it is down the woman reading the magazine as to how she takes it seriously or not, they are about a bit of fun, distraction even MP - Well what if mummy left the magazine lying around, she might not be home when her daughter gets back from school, and what's she going to do? She's a pubescent girl so of course she is going to say: 'I want to read mature magazines' Female - That is totally missing the point MP - Darling, these magazines are designed to make all women into raving, man-hating lesbians who say nothing but masogynistic things Female - *Stares into camera in disbelief*

Okay, it seems that it isn't the firmware that causes the problem (downgrading firmware seems to be a pain once you've updated it as Apple seem to have stopped the old process from working). Instead the culprit is iTunes itself. After going through from very complicated and seemingly unnecessary steps I came across this link which seemed pretty easy: http://www.oldapps.com/itunes.htm This has a ton of different libraries that you can use to downgrade the library, I downgraded mine to 7.0.2 and now the 360 recognises the thing. Some people might have trouble trnasfering their existing libraries so someone else posted how to get them to work without having to start all over again (sadly this part I've lost due to my rubbishness). It involved: 1- Copying the Itunes folder in your My documents>My Music folder (this is the default place for it) 2 - Uninstalling the newer version of iTunes and reinstalling the older version 3 - Going back into the newly created iTunes folder in the My Music folder and renaming the iTunes library.itl as iTunes library.itl.old 4 - Copying the same file saved elsewhere into the newly created version of the iTunes folder Also for the hardcore (and I couldn't get this to work but I did no damage to the pod while trying) there are full firmware downgrades possible: http://forums.ipodhacks.com/showthread.php?threadid=813 The above link has tons of useful and not so useful threads in their forum. Downgrading to 7.0.2 seems fine so far in terms of playback and I haven't had any problems but most people who were complaining wanted to go back to an even earlier version of iTunes. The firmware on my iPod politely told me to go fuck myself when I did that so I lumped for 7.0.2. Also, I haven't tried to use my iPod with a 360 for about 4 months and only discovered this problem last week. I can't be sure when this update happened as I am prone to getting drunk and mucking about on my PC as these forums can attest for. Which brings to me to a point, when are they going to install breathelisers on laptops, PCs and even games consoles? I'd love to know when I was too wasted to play; having recently engaged in a multiplayer session of Gears of War only to find myself sprawled out on the floor, headset still on head, controller clutched in hand with a big 'Disconnected from host' message floating on the screen (this is the second time this has happened to me) and negative feedback on my profile. -
That fox show was the best when the spike TV guy outright goes 'Have you played it?', and the psychologist rather dismissivally goes 'No!'.

Tracer, that is exactly what I'm looking for. I recently played Amped 3 and got addicted to the way they instantly upload your score to Xbox LIVE and the challenge it sets you of wanting to crawl just a little further up the ranks. The Club seems to offer that too, every jump, roll, turn has to be calculated for the best possible score. I'm sucker for stuff like that. Wrestle, I understand what you mean by it seeming less than serious. It is definitely going for the arcade style of play. In the same way that I think that SEGA rally revo is a great arcade game, in contrast to DiRT which is very serious. Both have their place. Happens to be that The Club is what I'm looking for. It works even better (were you suggesting this Tracer? I tried the multiplayer splitscreen and thought it was a bit rubbish) when you have 3 or 4 friends around at the same time, all trying to beat the score on Insane (can't wait to play the difficulty setting named 'Real' even if that is a shit name for it) and trying to figure out where all the hidden skulls are.

This is why I find EDF so gratifying in many ways. The fact that every single one of your team mates is expendable.

Bladestorm's inventory system is pretty simple, it breaks equipment down into sections for each type of armour and weapon and you can scroll through them using the bumpers. It also has the stats for what you have equipped and how the item will change the character's performance if you decide to equip that instead (it also doens't allow you to sell stuff you have equipped). I don't know how complex Mass Effect's stats stuff is but that might work as I found the whole thing very intuitive. As for the articles thanks Dan for the link for the first one I hadn't had a chance to laugh at that yet. I feel like I'm missing out now and should just buy the game to annoy the right wing plonkers who write stuff like that.

Crimsons Skies is fully backwards compatible and I've played it a few times already, doesn't suffer from lag and bugs that some of the other BC titles suffer during emulation (damn you Fuzion Frenzy).

Yeah tried the demo and it did nothing for me. I can only be thankful that they took out the 'feature' from Revenge which allowed you to smash any traffic going in the same direction as you. 3 was superb (albeit with some of the most horrific elastic band AI) with each new installment there seems to be more EA influence in them and I've pretty much given up on the franchise. Flatout Ultimate carnage (the newest iteration of the Flatout series) is actually pretty satisfying, sure it rips off Burnout but it takes some of the best bits and on top of that it has some great mini games and destruction derby stuff.

Jackson to direct Hobbit movie. Also sequal. Wait, what?

I feel bad, I posted on this thread late and completely forgot I did so. The comment was a little glib and faecious. Thunderpeel you are right I think the books are pretty meh. I read the books when I was younger and I have one of these ticks where when I read a book any descriptive sections I only read for as long as it takes to create a mental image. I have, in the past, ignored certain words and sentences because they are contrary to what I've imagined (I have mentally written furniture, hair/eye colour, rooms out of books). Lord of the Rings was a patronising and frustrating affair, I just felt like Tolkien didn't trust me to be imaginative enough to picture my own scenery and I spent large sections of the book skipping pages hoping that something would actually happen. The only scene I remember liking and thinking was quite chilling in the book was Boromir's death. The film embodied what I hated about the books by further changing my mind's eye version of that scene (and totally Hollywooding it in the process). Like Miffy said it is visually rich but everything else about the film is dull. The acting is sub-par (Viggo Mortensen and Elijah Wood are especially bad) the changes in the plot are probably necessary to keep it ticking along and let the casual, Armageddon-loving, titanic-appreciating, masses find the whole thing a little more digestible. I still can't help but feel they all just looked like they had been implemented for the sake of a target audience (we feel the female demographic want to see more of Liv Tyler so lets change a couple of scenes so that we can do that hmmm?). Also in defence to the link, as a criticism of Lord of Rings it doesn't really stand up, but as a piece of piss take that endorses Lo-Pan it rules. -
They should have got the guy who choreographed the bear fight scenes in the Anthony Hopkins film 'The Edge' to do it. They used a combination of puppets, animatronics and a real life bear to make very convincing and dynamic animal scenes. Would have been better, perhaps?

I lost a great deal of my Christmas due to a large consumption of Jim Beam. I remember vaguely agreeing to go and see Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem... Not sure I saw it though, or what happened next. So either the film was so good I blotted it out of mind or I was so blotted that I don't remember it. Or I didn't see it at all, or it was rubbish and I drank more to forget it. Boxing day was a return to work and hangovers. No presents as I was away on business and didn't know anyone.

Someone showed me his website: johnnylee.net It has info on making the things as well as helpful videos. I would love to use this system to draw stuff on my laptop as it would be better and more feasible than carrying a scanner around with me all the time.

Hurrah for that sentiment! I passed out at 9PM last night and woke up at 2AM, thirsty and somehow bored (the first time I have ever woken up feeling bored ever). I cracked open a bottle of Jim Beam and have been drinking for about 7 hrs now while trying to beat Beautiful Katamari, Stranglehold on Hard Boiled settings along with a little Condemned: Criminal Origins (so as to fulfill one of the back log of games I need to finish). Might go back to bed at about midday and ignore Los Angeles until I have to go back to work in two days time. Life is being too kind.

Hopefully they'll listen to a few of Maddox's suggestions for the fanfic film: http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=lotr1 The Lord of the Rings trilogy sucked, plain and simple. The technology was impressive but I was bored within about 10 minutes. I've been trying to write a rant about the trilogy but I can't face watching any of them ever again. -
Eurogamer just posted a review: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=89548 Looks thoroughly charming.

I've never had a problem with the hypocracy more the sanctimonious manner in which so many people go about it. There is no clear way to argue either case on whether Greenpeace are good/bad/wrong/right. Simply because most people will have staked out their position on this matter already and that isn't going change (for better or worse). But as Bill Hicks once said 'we're missing the point here, a piece of shit is still a piece of shit; you're getting confused here, look at it: It's a piece of shit.'

I disagree. If I expect a lot less from this game I'm hoping it might surprise me. I hated the first hour of Dreamfall: The longest journey then I went back to it a few weeks later just so I could say I completed it and found myself ignoring the piss poor fight scenes but really enjoying the story. Expectations lowered=Small rewards appreciated. Unfortunately I had a 100% reproducible crash on the library section and have never been able to circum-navigate it.

Well at least a few other people were bored playing, not just me. I'm going to try and slog through it a bit further and see if I can find something in it to enjoy. I will not, nor will I ever return to PC gaming, not only is it expensive to keep up to date, I travel too much for it to be viable to lug around everywhere. And on top of that it is also dangerous (Heroes of might and magic 2 destroyed me on an epic level like no console game ever could). There's also the fact that I gave up games in their entirety for 3 years because of 2 of the aforementioned reasons. I was saved by a round of Tekken 2 and the introduction of the Dreamcast.

Sort of talking about both but more specifically Half Life 2, which I tried again recently. Yeah, I thought that had to be the answer... Some kind of genetic anomally maybe --------- Realised I forgot to specify this in first post and edited it for clarity (hopefully)

Still seeing a slow stream of shoddy PS2 ports entering shops. The general trend right now seems to be 'Well we have to realease something for the Wii as it is so popular.' This has not been translating to good third party games. Nintendo aren't helping any by not releasing some sensible and clear Manufacturer guidelines so that devs and publsihers can successfully submit their games either. Thus people are spending more time on game banners and handling error messages than dealing with game content.

Missy Elliot mashed up with a bunch of other stuff, like it.

Yes the games industry is just that but games journalism should not be under the same umbrella. Saying, hypothetically, that this is a viable option would be like saying that a news program should be influenced by money interests and only tell it how corporations want you to hear it. It is why Fox news is derided and the BBC news is respected. I watched some CNN a couple of days ago and it was shockingly bad. "This just in there was a mistake in the ballots for Miss california, seems that this is causing some controversy, more on that later now back to the Omaha shootings"
