  1. Anti-child devices

Yeah it is a small minority of little terrors that cause trouble, but to be fair, after having spent the last 2 years in Montreal witnessing nothing dramatic at all I returned to Brighton last week. My friend was accosted at knife point outside a club we were leaving (to be fair he told them to fuck off because he didn't have any money, he was very drunk) on my first night back then 3 days later me and this girl witnessed 2 'youths' mug this guy for a case of beer. It threw me because occurrences were right in the middle of the City and not particularly late at night. So yeah, people need to tackle the root of the problem rather than pushing people away but I think to say people are fear mongering is weird unless I just happened to get really unlucky and see two of the only crimes committed by 15 year old chavs ever.
  2. Guitar Hero IV "this year"

Someone remembers skate and destroy! I remember Taz (a shared friend I think) playing this to death and me feeling that although nothing was mind blowing I just liked that it tried to amke you feel like every little trick you pulled off was amazing because, like real life, griding then going into a flip trick IS amazing (nigh impossible).
  3. Undertow

Yeah it isn't very well thought out. If I hadn't been so desperate to find something to play thaqt was Co-Op, i probably wouldn't have found the option either.
  4. Time for some beat poetry

Is it me or does Dr Edison have an extremely negative outlook on life? I find it highly amusing reading his posts as they are like someone doing a canon-ball into a calm pool on this forum.
  5. Undertow

You can play split screen Co-op, go into the Multiplayer option and Host a match then select local multiplayer. I actually found myself using the marine for most of the game to capture points then switched to the corsair (the one you are talking about) to defend them.
  6. The Club

Euorgamer review: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=92024&page=2 Pretty much what I expected, they give it a score based on the fact that it isn't exemplary of it's genre but those who liek it will really like it. Cannot wait.
  7. Heath Ledger found dead

My condolences to anyone who actually knew and liked Heath Ledger, but seriously he was a terrible actor. He used to be on this TV series called 'Roar' with a guy who had been a stunt double for Sean Connery and in Coronation Street. I used to laugh at how bad it was and thought 'No one is ever going to come out of this with a career'. '10 things I hate about you' was pretty good considering it should have been another teen drama affair and that Julia Stiles was in it. then after that Heath just seemed to flounder through performance after performance: Knight's Tale - Rubbish Four Feathers - Does anyone remember that film? The only time I thought Kate Hudson was better than her male counter part Brokeback Mountain - Heath does a great Chewbacca imitation The Brothers Grimm - He was alright in it I suppose What makes me sad is that it seems apparent that Heath might have been suffering from some kind of addiction way before this happened but no one really gave a shit because it didn't make good news. That interview was quite sad as either he was really nervous about doing it or he is having DTs (he literally looks like he'd be happy to crawl out of his skin in a couple of those shots)
  8. Undertow

The system is fairly counter-intuitive at first. The team mate AI is useless on anything other than Casual and story line is laughable. I've still sunk about 2-3 hours on the game and once I got past the stupidly confusing game quirks, there is a game that I could see myself aiming for the 10000 kills (got 4000 now) and Ultra playthrough (need to finish 3 more levels) achievements. I recommend playing through it on Casual and figuring out how it works and becoming familiar with the maps, better yet get a second player because you need them for some of the later levels on Normal. I probably wouldn't have bought it but as a free download I was pleasantly entertained once I stopped getting angry at my retard teammates.
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

I heartily concur, as was 'There will be Blood'. Anyone even slightly curious about seeing Aliens Vs Predator: Requiem. Don't, seriously. One of the worst films I've ever seen.
  10. Troy.... Errrr What?

I've always liked reading up on greek mythology, the way in which every hero and villain is far from perfect/imperfect has always appealed to me. Decided to watch Troy as a way to go to sleep and found myself utterly perplexed. In fact, to the films credit, I really had a lot of trouble trying to figure out if the film was sticking to the mythology or if the source material I'd originally read had been debunked. Then I went and read up on it again after the atrocious bit where Achilles comes out of the Trojan horse and runs around Troy. I understand that it is mythology and that it is likely that none of it happened, especially as Gods are often credited for all kinds of events... But I mean really, some of that which was depicted in the film was a rubbish retelling of the original story.
  11. Troy.... Errrr What?

Good, so not just me then who walked away a little confused. I think that Greek mythology makes some of the best reads ever, especially for kids as the fables are fantastical but at the same time rooted in quite a lot of humanity. The heroes are often prone to pettiness, pride and making bad judgements. The Gods are essentially a bunch of people with super powers, but by that I don't mean they are Super heroes they are just as likely to screw someone over as they are to help them. As kid I liked it as it made me feel like it was easier to swallow as a religion than Christianity. I don't think that Troy was a terrible film. It is shot really well, the acting is either very good (Eric Bana, Brian Cox, Peter O'Toole), fairly good considering what was given them (Saffron Burrows, Sean Bean) or not rubbish enough to ruin it (Brad Pitt, Orlando Bloom) and the score is appropriate if not original. I suppose they couldn't have Ajax killing himself (or being covered in clay) and they couldn't have had Agamemnon return to Greece to be murdered by his wife as this would have been difficult to explain and/or wouldn't have please the target audience but some of the additions were out and out pointless and would have been better spent fleshing out some of the other characters.
  12. Rez HD

Played the full version and had to stop for awhile becuase I don't want to finish it in one go. I will say that I found it a little easy, but i had been playing Omega 5 for the previous 3 hours so my brain was in some kind of weird zone (I'm training up my reflexes for The Club). I tend to only listen to rather nasty raggacore, glitch or D'n'B if I'm going to listen to electronic music but I think that the music is such an intrinsic part of Rez that it really doesn't matter if you like that type of music; liking the game makes me like the music, despite the fact that I wouldn't be caught dead listening to it out of the context of Rez. Going to sit down and play all the way through the game tomorrow.
  13. Devil May Cry 4

I played through the first one on a friend's PS2 (back when you didn't have to pay me to pick up a PS2 controller). Didn't like it one bit as it was essentially Onimusha with a jump button. What I will say is that the demo is perfect for anyone who enjoyed this series as it looks fantastic, the controls are a bit iffy but forgivable (NEVER assign lock-on to a bumper button, it makes no sense and is awkward), and the scope can finally be done justice on the current generation (I always felt that too much of the level design looked jagged and wobbly because of the lack of Anti aliasing). I hope it sells well on the 360 as it will do on the PS3. It would be nice to see more of these types of games on Microsofts's console (I want Shiki Gami No Shiro 3 to make it to Europe at least an Onimusha would be nice too) as well as show Capcom that it isn't ill-advised to support it.
  14. Off-Road Velociraptor Safari

If you do email them, suggest the potential for Xbox LIVE arcade? If they need someone to do some of the footwork on compliance stuff for free (not including a debug kit and peripherals) I'd be happy to volunteer. I suck at this game though so they'd need a separate functionality tester.
  15. Random internet stupidity

Please forgive me for what I am about to do. Yufster, it was probably an accident, but it is 'Praia de Luz'. I also find it irritating to have him referring to them as the Tapas 9, Tapas is a primarily Spanish arrangement that involves lots of small dishes that you mix and match as you see fit. Praia de Luz is in the Algarve, in Portugal. Tapas is not a Portuguese dish. But then the 'Chourico 9' (sorry can't find the accent that goes underneath the 'c') or the 'Bacalhau 9' doesn't have the easily digestible ring to it. This is totally off topic (well sort of as this seems to be about misinformation) but it makes me grind my teeth whenever people refer to stuff in Portugal and get it wrong. Anyway, back to something a little more random: She is currently hanging out with R Kelly as he is clearly the only one who understands her... Or something.
  16. Rez HD

Glad you weren't offended Miffy, I have just started to treat LIVE messaging from people I barely know the same way as I treat facebook invites: unless they are interesting/important I find them to be loathsome. I downloaded the Demo because I can't wait for the full version just now. It represents the game very well indeed. The framerate is sublime (I played a DC version originally and I remember thinking it was awesome but choppy in places) and it works well as a teaser because the game is just starting to get really catchy when it stops. Whether you like this type of music or not it will have you tapping your feet in time. I have to wait 6 more hours for the full version. EDIT: Eurogamer just creamed themselves: http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=91540
  17. Rez HD

Sent out a message on my friends list (sorry Miffy I should have known you wer etracking this one) urging them to get this. The 360 I'm on right now is not mine so I'm waiting for the guy to get back from work to coax him into downloading it.
  18. Overlord

Sorry that was taken out context I was replying to the previous comment about Jericho. Overlord as far as I can see has had nothing but good things said about it. Though not many people bought it. I accidentally threw my copy away when I moved countries. Feel a bit stupid for doing that as I hadn't even played it.
  19. Overlord

I felt really sorry for the game when Yahtzee ripped in to it.
  20. Overlord

Overlord is about 39.99 new in most places in Canada that I have been. I also believe that it is region free: http://forum.xbox-sky.com/xbox360_regional_compatibility_guide/ So anyone can get it off Ebay etc. I really think that Codemasters had a great year last year. DiRT, Overlord were great and even Jericho wasn't a complete waste of time.
  21. The Club

That's a fair criticism I suppose although that might be exagerating the low-end quality of the game. I'm happy to fork out that amount as I know I'll get a ton out of it.
  22. As am I, then don't update it, whatever you do. The 360 will stop recognising it. Apple have, and to be fair they are right, shrugged and said that Microsoft need to release a new patch if they want to work. In the mean time I'm trying to go through a series of rubbish tutorials to get it to work, which involves downgrading everything. It has taken me ages to find the right places (I'm useless when it comes to using the Internet) but if anyone is encountering the same problem I'll post the links for the pages IF it works. And most info seems to suggest that you just need to install the Microsoft optional download, This is LIES.
  23. The Club

Thanks, I was referring to Gripshift... Or are you deliberately trying to confuse me?
  24. How to best explain Brutal Legend to your friends...

I usually go along the lines of: "Did you play Psychonauts?" Depending on their answer I either: A) Berate them for not buying/playing it Tell them that they should be looking forward to Brutal Legend Although for some reason I felt the need to drunkenly tell someone it was looking like a combination of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath and Arkadian Warriors... With Metal. I won't be using the latter example ever again (I hope)
  25. The Club

Downloadable XLA title? I'll check it out.
