  1. I am liking it a lot. Jon Bernthal is allowed a few moments of levity in between gargling rocks. I am waiting for the bit where it goes on too long but I am only on episode 6.
  2. I haven't finished listening to this podcast as I came to see the picture of the broken lamp. Then I saw what was going on. Goddamnit Nick.
  3. Wolfenstein II: It's a Blastkowicz

Go listen to the Waypoint 101 podcast about Wolfenstein The New Order. You can start with pt.2 if you only want to hear the spoilers for The New Colossus. Hearing Rob Zacny explain that moment in more detail - fucking blew my mind.
  4. Mario Bava - Godfather of Italian Horror

Planet of the Vampires is a film I have been meaning to rewatch for a long time. I remember loving it at the time and it inspired me a lot with my first novel (not through direct influence like The Addiction and Near Dark).
  5. Wolfenstein II: It's a Blastkowicz

Yeah, the best way to enjoy this game is to keep it nice and easy. I blasted through the whole game in a weekend and I am glad I did as I will now be able to enjoy Giant Bomb's end of year discussion where they will undoubtedly talk about a lot of the story content. I did almost no stealth in this game and just dual wielded my way through every encounter - it was hilarious.
  6. Wolfenstein II: It's a Blastkowicz

TL:DR, you should all play it soon and dodge the spoilers, the game does some really interesting things. The levels are interesting and varied, it is possible to lose track of where you are in some of them, which is nice in contrast to the last couple where I found them pretty linear The range of locales are pretty good and it puts the game through its paces – burnt out New York, decaying New Orleans, Brightly lit Dallas, etc. It felt more varied in terms of light and mood than the previous game The shooting is still a bit meh, after DOOM and how good DOOM was, this game never quite has the same punch and fluidity of that game. I did like how Wolfenstein played on the second easiest difficulty but I can imagine that a lot of the things I complained about The New Order being present on harder difficulties. Blaskowiecz now picks up some content when he walks past it but not all, I can understand the design decision for this but it just slows down the game in a way that detracts Blowing pieces of armour, and limbs, off of steampunk Nazis is very aesthetically pleasing Mildly spoilery section:
  7. Wolfenstein II: It's a Blastkowicz

Those acid trip scenes are pretty cool (I finished the game this morning). I feel I made the right choice to play this on the second easiest difficulty. I died maybe twice.
  8. He is probably so distracted by having to make a song out of every two word item he sees. That bit was delightful.
  9. Wolfenstein II: It's a Blastkowicz

Giant Bomb's enthusiasm for the game has made me cave and buy this. I'll admit that Austin Walker's endorsement pushed me over the edge. However, if this turns out to be another Far Cry 3, then I will refuse to get wrapped up in their enthusiasm, ever again.
  10. Middle-Earth: Shadow of War(dor)

I am playing on Nemesis difficulty and skipping all cutscenes, it is still the worst game I cannot stop playing (that I stopped playing because Dragon's Dogma is out)
  11. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah, I didn't read it as shade, so much as usually when comedy writers attempt to stretch a sketch idea into a longer running time, they tend to feel sparse. American Vandal goes somewhere else, the show addresses its own bullshit and the jokes dissipate into really interesting social commentary.
  12. Riverdale

Haven't started season 2... I am living in Poland and away from my partner and part of its charm was laughing at the show so I might just wait until we can watch it together.
  13. Middle-Earth: Shadow of War(dor)

Shadow of War is the worst game that I cannot stop playing. It is one giant Orc-Murder Soap Opera. Every time the game isn't about that (all of the story missions) the game is deathly dull. The combat sucks, the platforming is atrocious, but, but, but, that Soap Opera is so moreish.
  14. Psychonauts 2

I just got a notification for my backer rewards. I had completely forgotten I funded this project. Excited to be getting more T-Shirts!
  15. Movie/TV recommendations

Glad so many people are enjoying the show. It is amazing that they managed to take a premise that should have been centered around Dick-jokes and make something so much more.
  16. Blade Runner 2049

I said this on facebook 'If the film is half as good as this interview then I am sold' Honestly, having Ford going into interviews not really giving a shit is the biggest delight. The film seems almost worth it just for these:
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

Yup, agree wholeheartedly, I was getting really uncomfortable with how every investigation arc seemed to expose or ruin a girl in this show, and then the show started to address it. The final episode tosses comedy straight out the window and gets really fucking dark. Like all good comedies that parodying certain genres, the show cleverly makes you interested in what is going to happen next instead of just going for jokes. Also, at key points it knows when to have some one go 'hang on, are you serious about this?'. Loved it and devoured the whole thing in a couple of days
  18. I also played a few rounds of the game and the new core is great! I was worried that it would kind of suck but it is actually fast and fun to dash around with the little fella. ReCore was one of my games of the year and this has certainly improved it some. Less so for anyone that has already finished the main plot - as most of the new content doesn't add anything meaningful to the game. Anyone starting now, though, should find that a lot of the grind to get enough stuff to unlock the final stages, a lot less pronounced. Added features like not having to go back to the trawler to swap your crew around is a much needed feature too.
  19. I enjoyed you guys talking about Star Trek, even though I cannot stand Star Trek and find them all amazingly tedious.
  20. Similarly, I was having a bad Tuesday and this podcast cheered me right up. The robot thing where one person could see through the foil and subsequently goes mad? I would love to see a reboot of 'They Live' or 'The Matrix' where that is the plot. Everyone walks around treating these things as real people, one person has an accident, starts taking an experimental drug, whatever, and slowly but surely he starts 'seeing' these automatons. The film could actually spend the whole time not really explaining if what they saw was real or not, and have an ambiguous ending.
  21. Plug your shit

So, I wrote this about the last Pewdiepie debacle: https://medium.com/@twmac/on-the-other-hand-pewdiepie-and-that-video-d8cf87c6843e Given what is going on right now with his latest, this article no longer reads well.
  22. Masculinity

I fucking hate Revenge of the Nerds. This makes a lot of sense.
  23. Movie/TV recommendations

I mentioned it a while back but 'El Bar' is pretty good fun.
  24. I didn't realise you could get stuck - hmm, must dig a bit deeper on this one. It is just the right level of creepy for me.
  25. There was a free trial on the Xbox One and it is made by the Ice Pick Lodge team that are remaking Pathologic right now, so I figured I would give it a shot. You play as an insomniac who is haunted by visions. The game seems to be a Roguelike, but I am not sure if there is a severe punishment for dying. The main mechanics are moving from room to room and turning on the light to make sure that whatever is roaming your 2D house doesn't get you, while also trying to find items that will advance time so that you can wake up from you living nightmare. The art style is very basic but effective and the story line is incomprehensible right now. I am liking it.
