  1. Far Cry 3

I wrote a little post on this, it is meant as bitter sweet: http://badgercommander.net/bc-ruminates-a-sad-story-indeed
  2. Far Cry 3

Oh dear: http://www.computerandvideo games.com/305048/previews/far-cry-3-ubisoft-takes-us-back-to-paradise/ Apparently Far Cry 3 won't hate you, weapons won't degrade and there is fast travel. What else? Will grenades not roll down hills?
  3. Catherine

Oh Christ, what is that gif/smiley thing? I went into EB Games, a little inebriated, and bought Supreme Commander 2 for the X360 (it was ten dollars and looked forlorn) then asked about Dark Souls and pre-ordered it. On being prompted that I would need to spend 20 dollars on a card. I pre-ordered the deluxe edition of Catherine as well (the one with the heart boxers). So, I guess I am signed up for this oddity.
  4. E3 2K11

That is out of date, Gun loco has been cancelled on all platforms; so has The Agency. Virtua Tennis 4 is no longer exclusive and Tropico 4 is coming to X360. All the same the point is pretty clear. The X360 has no decent exclusives coming out except for its two big franchises.
  5. Plug your shit

Downloading it now, will try and write a review for it in the next couple of weeks when I do a round up of XBLIG games for AR.
  6. Sony Shitshow

Should I post this? Hmmm. http://badgercommander.net/bc-ruminates-psn-a-loss-of-innocence By the way the post is meant as light hearted and is more a musing on my love of the Dreamcast than a hardy attack against Sony.
  7. Tomb Raider

That was alright, couple of little plot holes in the video (like what happened to the guy that was on the same side of the boat as her when she started running). Would have been a nice little nod to the reboot nature if she had been listening to a Portable CD player in the beginning rather than an MP3 player. As teasers go though, it was one long pre-rendered cutscene that did nothing to appease my appetite.
  8. Batman: Arkham City

    Looks like it.
  9. I just read this and felt like I had been handed a big mouthful of 'shut the fuck up'. Very humbling and pretty spot on. I am sure it will have its detractors but it made me think about the way I write and what I write a great deal: http://www.lostgarden.com/2011/05/blunt-critique-of-game-criticism.html
  10. (IGN.com)

Saw this on Twitter: "Expect to spend 20 hours beating Infamous 2; twice that much if you want to do everything again."
  11. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

I don't reckon they will make a sequel, but really they should hurry up and get this game out. I no longer have my Saturn copy to play anymore.
  12. Yeah, I rarely visited Gamespot before hand but after the Gerstmann incident, I never bothered. Weirdly, since Kotaku changed their format I have stopped going there and instead visit Joystiq when I need brain candy blogging.
  13. Iron Brigade

Yeah, I am glad that they showed the customisation sections. That was really important to me as a mech fan, explaining the balancing between the different chassis was a good way to tick the box for the mech shooter fans. So, sorry Erkki, this guy was preaching to the 'converted'.
  14. Iron Brigade

Sold; am really looking forward to this game now. There really is too much stuff coming out in the next 2 months that I want to buy.
  15. I do not use iTunes, I do not like it all that much. Fortuntely, I downloaded some codexs and was able to listen to this genuinely entertaining podcast. My Ex who is only in to games that involve simple controls and/or ones with Zombies in them is getting pretty excited about it.
  16. Movie/TV recommendations

Hello Villiams, nice to see another new poster. Just finished watching the original 'The Crazies', stragne film. It was interesting to see that Romero was actualyl trying to tell the tale on 3 levels and it mostly works whereas the remake throws out most of the social commentary and makes it very shallow and a horror film. Definitely worth checking out if only for one very poignant death scene
  17. La Celle Splintereux: Conviçion

Yeah, just got stuck into the campaign, it is interesting to read some of the fans opinions as I was very much thinking: 'I like this, but it isn't what Splinter Cell was about at all' The mark system is very enjoyable, and the set pieces feel pretty tight. The Co-Op is an absolute blast in split screen and led to some really nice, taut encounters. However, it has become a bit of a manshooter now, hasn't it? In that regards it feels a little like Fallout 3 versus original Fallout. Splinter Cell: Conviction good game in its own right (despite the brevity of all of the different parts) but not really, fully in keeping with the original's vision. Didn't there used to be a person on the forums (intrepid homunclus or something) who was obsessed with Sam Fisher (both the game and the character)? Haven't seen them on here in awhile. I would interested in their take on this game.
  18. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

I was aware of this and that is why I felt so stupid for missing the glowing star and circle right in the middle of the character. Compared to Guwange and Raiden, it is like a giant beacon.
  19. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

Damn that looks nice. On a side note, a friend and I pushed through Trouble Witches NEO! by coin feeding it. It has grown on me massively as I figured out all of the little hooks in the game. For starters I only just realised that the circle and star in the middle of the character is the only hit box point (I felt stupid when I finally noticed). The characters secondary move which slows down bullets must be triggered at the right time with a hope of killing the enemy that generated the bullets. If the enemy is killed all its bullets of a certain type will immediately turn into coins. The coins can be spent on special cards, these need to be used duting certain points to trigger larger combos for more bonus coins. There seems to be more to that last system but I haven't figure that out yet, the localisation is deliciously awful, but that also means that the tutorials are not much cop.
  20. Xbox Live / Windows Live

My ex-housemate is now vendible bunion because of a similar mishap and my other ex-housemate chose a randomnly generated name when prompted and has now been Appalling Frog for the last 3 months.
  21. L.A. Noire

That is a fair point. However, the manner of some of the reviews and how they address this shift in focus is abysmal. One of them actually read: 'Don't think of this as another GTA clone, think of it more as Mafia or The Godfather games' and failed to justify that comment. Also, the people who do talk about the story have commented on the the characters being cliched and the short form stories not being very good (the overarching story line redeeming them somewhat). I am not as in love with the period as I was with Western settings so I cannot reconcile dropping 60 dollars + tx on this game. I am also tired of Rockstar just whacking a shit ton of polish on wonky mechanics (Red Dead, GTA IV) and everyone losing it as to how Rock Star have done it again.
  22. L.A. Noire

Every review I have read so far seems to follow the lines of: 'Very linear and transparently hand holding, great presentation though so we give it 8-10 out of 10' I am sick of these types of games all style and no substance. Enough is e-f*****g-nough.
  23. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

Need to sit down and play Outland seriously. I really liked the visual style and played the first 3 levels. The I got distracted by Hardcorps: uprising and Trouble Witches NEO! They are just solid shooters that I can switch my brain off to and let my reflexes take over. Neither are spectacular, but very much worth playing.
  24. Radiant Silvergun XBLA

Hey Tanu if you have to pick between Bangai-O and Trouble Witches NEO! pick Bangai-O. I really enjoyed Trouble Witches (it is simplistic but the power ups and strategy is fun) but Bangai-O is easily the better of the two games. Also, any fans of G-Rev in north America? Wartech: Senko No Ronde is now really cheap and a total blast to play. I tried Strania, bought to support the company but the game is no way as good as, or diverse as, Senko No Ronde.
