  1. Feminist Frequency

This thread first made me really angry and for some reason I made myself keep reading it. That said, even though some of it made me pretty angry, the good points that emerged definitely gave me some food for thought (to the point that I ended up writing a 1000 word article). What I am happy to say is that it was nice to see the regulars on the forum generally comport themselves with the kind of maturity I have grown to appreciate about thumbs crowd. Except for Thunderpeel, you should be ashamed of yourself. I am kidding about that last sentence.
  2. Netflix

I like the weird indie selection on Netflix. I caught a bunch of IFC films that I would never be able to find anywhere else (other than Pirating, which I really am not into) and there are some nice TV shows available on there that I had never had a chance to visit. Really digging how frequently it gets updated too as a whole 20-30 new pieces of content went up yesterday that means I can watch junk stuff.
  3. The Walking Dead

I'll be honest, that whole gameplay thing was us being idiots. Well, more specifically me. We're really fortunate to have Potter 'Matt' on the podcast as he helps ground us a lot more than in previous podcasts where Shaun and/or I would get on our high horses about something. As for the Ben thing, that is actually hilarious as I had always thought of him as a jock and you are right it is because of that sweater. It also shows that the person with the best memory (myself) hasn't played the game since the last episode was released so some of the venues' names, unless prominent in both the comic and TV fiction, kind of got forgotten. Thanks for listening Luftmensch!
  4. The Walking Dead

The blog I write on just put up a podcast about The Walking Dead. It has a ton of spoilers so if you are interested in listening be warned that we go all over the house. Also any feedback would be appreciated, we are aware that the recording area isn't the best and Vimes (if he is still around) woudl probably be irritated at the amount of laughing done it: http://www.arcadianrhythms.com/2013/03/ar-podcast-8-the-casting-dead/
  5. I have a confession to make: I have not unwrapped the PS3 copy yet. I am planning to play this on the weekend and try and get as far as possible to catch up. I feel very guilty.
  6. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

I am colour blind and have real problem with spectrums in particular. Golden Axe: Beast Rider had a similar colour system and it was rendered even more unplayable as a result. I will still probably play it, because it is Platinum, but I might just borrow it from someone instead of paying for it.
  7. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance

Arrrgh! That is a deal breaker.
  8. Retro video game music quiz

Track 15 from level 2 is Track 7 from level 3 is
  9. Destiny

Ever make anything but shooters again. They used to make Myth, one of my favourite RTS games
  10. Sonic & Allstars Racing Transformed

Man, you are ruining this game! I got through to unlocking the 4 star difficulties and beat most of the championships and thought I was doing well...
  11. Wizaaaaaards!!

Oh man, just looked through some old side-talkin pictures. There is one with a man with a hat that says 'Wizard' on it.
  12. Recently completed video games

Well, I was getting a little worried as our tastes seemed to be way to similar. I was much more diplomatic about my feelings on Anarchy Reigns in the Podcast we did on Arcadian Rhythms. I haven't played Anarchy Reigns in a long time so if you are around and fancy doing a little multiplayer and showing me some of what I missed I would be interested in giving it a shot. I think the single player should be touched on as to how terrible it is. Note that this will be what a lot of people play and it straight up, is terrible.
  13. Dragon's Dogma

I am not as down on this. To be honest, at 20 quid I know a fair few people who bought Shivering Isles for that price and that was just the DLC. I'll be more than happy to give my old copy to someone else and buy this, my save will be compatible and I get free stuffs. Bring it on!
  14. Binary Domain

I wrote about this ages ago on the blog I do stuff on. I am really happy to see a lot of people echoing the sentiments. For anyone interested go here. But so I don't just look like I am plugging my site every few seconds, here is a quote I feel is in keeping of the thread:
  15. Well I'll balance it out by having not started the HD remake. It is sealed, sitting on my coffee table at home. I am going to be in Spain for a week so I promise to stab my way through at least three of the colossuses when I get back. After I play some more Borderlands 1.
  16. Yager's Spec Ops: The Line

Glad people are still debating about this game's story, I like that this happening now long after the Mass Effect 3 discussion seems to have been retired. I wrote a piece a long time ago that I just revisited. The funny thing is that the point I was arguing, I think I am now almost completely rebuffed: Witcher 2, Spec Ops, even Far Cry 3 (as shitty as it was) have taken steps in the right direction in terms of narrative for big budget titles. With stuff like Cart Life tackling some pretty heavy duty stuff I am kind of glad to be wrong. Although, I still want the Die Hard of games.
  17. 2013

The single player campaign is pointless and utterly unfun with no challenge to it whatsoever, unfortunately you need to play it unlock most of the cast. Worse it isn't even like the single player prepares you for the multiplayer in any way, which is button bashing mess with none of it really being fun and rewarding players who skirt the borders of every ruckus and pick off the weak (essentially kill stealing). The levels might be multitiered but no one really uses them and everything bottle necks in the centre. It basically plays like a more stable Iron Phoenix. On a more personal level, the music in this game is utter dross. The Aural equivalent of of stepping on thumb-tacs.
  18. 2013

Sno... Anarchy Reigns was not very good. I ordered the region free Japanese version. Sorry guy, it kind of sucks.
  19. Planning to start on the first Colossus this weekend. It has been a while but I reckon it should be easy to do. I am not going to play it on hard.
  20. Far Cry 3

I liked almost nothing in this game. It made me angry and sad at what a wasted opportunity it was as it seemed to have no respect for itself nor the player. So glad I didn't play full price for this nonsense.
  21. Got to play this over the weekend for about 3-4 hours. I have only played a little of Donkey Kong Country 2 but it seems like a very faithful re-imagining of the original conceit. I played through the first two worlds with a friend and have to say that the Co-Op experience is a blast albeit with the person palying as Donkey having to be the better of the two players as Diddy has some pretty unfair advantages. The levels are really nice to look at and each area seems to have its own little gimmick that does not get reused again. This game also has the best use of the waggle in a platformer so far. If you a fan of the series or are completely new to this(my friend is the former and I am pretty much the latter) then there is plenty of fun to be had with the OCD types having massive amounts of stuff to collect. When the day comes and I fork out for a Wii and another television this will definitely be one of the first on my list of must-buys.
  22. Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days

I also, sort of enjoyed Kane & Lynch 2, I think it lost a lot of what made the first game compelling (there is a moment in 2 player splitscreen that is absolutely brilliant) as in the characters were really interesting in the first one and less so in Dog Days. But damn if the moment to moment isn`t really good and the situations are gruesome. I had no problem with the mechanics as they were tightened up so much after the first game that I forgave it, and making the multiplayer option possible to fill with bots was a hell of a lot of fun. So yeah, it is massively flawed but I enjoyed myself a lot despite being depressed by the outcome and the ``ìs that it?` ending. At least it had no utterly pointless, annoying missions in Cuba though.
  23. Damnit, I finished Far Cry 3 on Christmas and then spent 4 hours putting an article together about all of the things I didn`t enjoy about the game. I just listened to the podcast and now my article reads like a transcript of this podcast. Fuck.
  24. It'll take 16 months to get through the game but I am okay with that. I hated Agro with a passion. I ended up doing most of my playthrough on foot as I couldn't stand the little blighter.
  25. Tada: http://www.amazon.co...55767599&sr=1-1 1st of January sounds good to me. My copy should arrive just before Christmas so count me in. Incidentally, I have a video capture unit at home so I will try and get some good pictures of the journey as long as I don't have any problems with the 720p capture (I think there might be something wrong with the cable I am using).
