  1. Haze

    Eurogamer thrashed it.
  2. PS3 multiplayer

Well, if you are aiming to get it for multiplayer, I'd say pass, because it's nothing special. But the single player portion is pretty good.
  3. PSN ID exchange

  4. Haze

It reminds me a lot of Resistance in its meh -ness. There's nothing outwardly wrong with it, it's quite pretty, but it's also not very inspiring, either.
  5. The Club

For any US Thumbs, the PS3 version is currently on clearance at many Target stores for about $40, and will probably keep dropping every week. I plan to pick it up when it hits the $20 range.
  6. So, this "GTA 4" thing then...

Any of you tried out multiplayer yet? I normally skip that portion of any game, but good lord, I may be having more fun with it than the single player campaign itself. If you can get a load of people into a Cops and Crooks match, there's some endless fun to be had.
  7. So, this "GTA 4" thing then...

My brother is playing the game on the PS3 at the same time as I'm playing on the 360 and I'm amazed by how different our adventures have been, even with little minor things. Like picking up a gun. I got my first handgun Whereas my brother went out drinking with Roman at a strip bar and, while trying to stumble drunkenly out of the club, he accidentally found himself on stage. The bouncers went after him and he ran into the back, where a gun was laying on a desk, which he used to escape. I have a feeling this game is going to lead to all kinds of wacky stories.

twmac, you may also enjoy GripShift on 360 or PS3, which sounds a lot like what you are describing as well.
  9. XBox Live

Are you using a generic wireless adapter, or the official Microsoft one? I had no end of trouble using a Linksys adapter, but as soon as I popped in the Official Microsoft Xbox 360 $50 Overpriced Wireless Accessory, it worked fine.
  10. Tomb Raider Anniversary

I've yet to play it, but I heard on one of the CheapAssGamer podcasts that a 360 version should be released in the near future, possibly coupled with Legends.
  11. Jack Black is AWESOME

This isn't too surprising, considering Jack Black
  12. Eastern European Games

    Pathologic?
  13. Why I hate you, and the internet

Why would someone who hates reviews write one?
  14. Penumbra

This episode one demo is different from the one I was originally talking about. This one looks much, much better by comparison.
  15. Is Odama worth US$38?

If you have a friend in the US, have them check some local Toys-R-Us stores for you. Most of them have the game on clearance and have for some time. I picked it up a few weeks ago for $5, complete with the Microphone.
  16. Anachronox: The Movie

A lot of background stuff is left out, such as what MysTek really is and does, but the movie makes a decent Readers Digest version of the game.
  17. Hotel Dusk: Room 215

Most of the characters are pretty standard noir archetypes, but they have pretty fleshed out and interesting backstories. Moreso than the characters in, say, Brick.
  18. Hotel Dusk: Room 215

Just got it today. From what little I've seen of it so far, it plays like Tex Murphy, but without the charm. Still, I'm having fun with it.
  19. Weird things

When I was younger, I thought that eating the ends off of hotdogs would make me ill. So, I refused to do it, until my parents deemed it necessary to show me the error of my ways. I promptly threw up several minutes later. Now I continue to tear them off and throw 'em away, even today.
  20. IGN give PS3 "Console of the Year" award...

Of course the Playstation 3 won console of the year. It can stack cups like NOTHING BEFORE IT!
  21. Your personal games of the year 2006

#1 - Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime One of very few games I've played to 100& completion on the Nintendo DS , you probably couldn't find a game out there that I've spent more time playing this year. Though very short, there are tons of things to collect and find if you feel like exploring, and the game is infinitely charming with its bouncy music and goofy atmosphere. That, and the tank battles are just awesome. Defcon A huge favorite among my friends, it's a deep strategy game that is deceptively simple on the outset. Personally, I get really tired of strategy games after a couple games, but Defcon keeps me playing. Maybe it's just the way the tide of battle can totally shift in another player's favor in the last few minutes of combat or the thrill of seeing about 4,000 missiles about to crash down on your main antagonist. Whatever the reason, I haven't stopped playing it since Introversion sent me a review copy, which is more than I can say for any other RTS game I've played this year. Hitman: Blood Money It's everything I loved about the first Hitman game, but without the bastardized aspects of the two sequels. 47 finally feels like he isn't a total wuss without his gun and the interface is far improved. Add in some truly awesome level design, upgradeable weapons and arguably the best story in the series and you have a title that reminded me again and again why I've stuck with this series for so long. Honorable mentions FlatOut 2 - An improvement over the original in basically every way, FlatOut 2 is perfect for those of us that loved to spin around in most racers, drive the opposite direction and hope to nail oncoming cars. Nothing gets your adrenaline pumping more than slamming an enemy car into the side of a tree at 150 MPH and watching their driver fly out the windshield into a heap on the side of the road. Half-Life 2: Episode One - It's everything that made Half-Life 2 great, just more refined and brief. Deplorable mention F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point - When you walk into a church in the first Interval and find Paxton Fettel standing there, shaking his head sadly and saying, "I know it doesn't make any sense," he sums up the experience quite well.
  22. PlayStation Mayhem

Sadly, I didn't even hear about the Fresno PS3 riot breaking out not five minutes away from where I live until tonight. Go Fresno.
  23. Sam and Max

I've been playing a review copy off and on for a few days now. Everything seems pretty ace, with the except of Sam himself. Since when is Sam just the straight man to Max's wackiness? Most of the jokes seem to revolve around Sam describing something, then Max saying something humorous in response. It isn't all bad, but the guy voicing Sam also doesn't deter from his deadpan monologue delivery much, making most of his few jokes fall flat.
  24. Now let's all just point fingers like five-year-olds.
  25. Movie/TV recommendations

What is it with medieval war movies and this need to out-do one another in terms of how many arrows are shot into the air at an approaching army? Braveheart did it realistically, in this one it looks like rain.
