It's on Steam now. You can get it there for like $2.

I am. It made a bit more sense, but not enough. Why is buying a discounted indie game worse? I've had LOADS of fun with discounted indie games! Not necessarily. I enjoyed it enough as a game, though parts were utterly infuriating. No more so than many other games I've given a passing mental grade to though. As a fan of Splinter Cell, I will say that it did not feel like Splinter Cell and there are enough generic action games out there that the progression of the series towards that saddens me and I wish it were more of a traditional SC experience. As a person who likes an action game now and then, meh. I've played better, but I've certainly played worse as well.

Oh fuck, I can't wait to play Toblix Presents: Lamp Marine: Armageddon's Origin: A Toblix Game. Please make this happen.

That's the sort of thing I've been waiting for! Thanks for the link, I'll be reading it shortly. Our every-so-often mostly-two-way "holy crap EDF2017 is the best why don't more people understand?" exchanges mean that your opinion on this game is the one I've been most interested in. EDIT: Just read it. Yeah, I think I need to dig myself up a copy of this game.

For me to get the summer camp achievement it was vital. Also, triggering it at just the right moment can save an entire helicopter load if you know how to use it. I'm guessing our play styles are incredibly different...

Zombie bait is super useful! What are you talking about?

I still don't have a home due to construction, but am now house-sitting for my girlfriend's uncle and got the Wii and Killer 7 over there. I plan to push through the 3 chapters that I am behind this week and bring myself up to date. We'll see if that actually happens.

I have downloaded this, but have yet to try it. I'll post thoughts once I've had a chance to play it.

Totally with you. Unless it's something really indie that hasn't found a way to get on there (and even then, there are a tonne of super indie games on Steam), I don't really think there's an excuse for not being on Steam unless you're Blizzard. In their case, Battle.net has been around for much longer and even though I'd still prefer Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 to be on Steam, I won't hold it against them (much). I honestly don't even care if it would run Origin after booting from Steam, as I've put up with that from GFWL for long enough now anyway. What I don't get is how Dragon Age 1 and Mass Effect 1 and 2 are fine, as you can't buy their DLC from Steam but must go to that weird Bioware store. If the bit in their policy allows for browser-bought DLC (or DLC bought through GFWL, as I've also done in the past), then EA's position seems kind of weak. From the outside, it seems like Valve is fine with people buying their DLC outside Steam and that there's something extra EA wants to slip in under the radar here. Whatever. With the information black hole going on on both sides, it's really useless to guess. What it boils down to for me though is basically no Steam, no sale. If EA wants to peddle Origin that bad, I'll wait for them to come to their senses. That, or Mass Effect 3 will make me cave, but just for the one game (I swear!).

Finally, something everyone can agree upon.

My way is to slam a Gatorade right before going to sleep and then another one right when you wake up. Of course, it requires the foresight to have Gatorade handy when you're going to sleep and waking up. Also, I'm 23 and love old scotch and older jazz. You don't have to actually be an old man to act like one. I'm really sorry to hear about that particular anniversary though. The 13th anniversary of my father's death was last week. Losing someone that close to you is real shitty, but you do feel a bit better with each passing year. The first one is the worst fucking thing though, and you have my deepest sympathies. Yeah, see somebody. Maybe don't jump into drugs right away, but at least talk to a counsellor or something. Are you in a place where that's covered by a state healthcare plan? If so, get on it right away.

Oh! Oh! I'm here! Hi, new person!

I spent $10 and am on Windows! I did my part, dammit! (I also already owned the majority of the games, so most of it went to charity.)

Mostly. As I said earlier, and sort of to respond to Pat's thinking about how men are getting treated by things: I have a fairly consistent reminder of why I'm against the patriarchy. When the atmospheric pressure changes, my jaw starts to hurt from the sucker-punch I took for daring to wear bright colours while in possession of a penis, thus not conforming to gender roles. To me, a feminist is (among other things) someone who thinks that any kind of pre-defined gender role is bullshit, so go feminism!

Well, I got put on some antibiotics that are supposed to clear it up by the end of the week, so hopefully it'll be gone sooner rather than later. Meanwhile, I'm getting booted to the guest room at my girlfriend's (she still lives with her parents, which adds awkward to the whole situation even though they really like me) on nights when she has to work in the morning because I'm keeping her up with my coughing fits. I had to sleep in the guest room on our fourth anniversary on Wednesday, which sorta sucked. The anniversary itself was nice, I just felt like shit the whole time. We're going to have to have the actual celebration once I get better.

So I've had a shitty couple of weeks. First off, my job is getting sketchier and sketchier. In addition to opening way less interesting films than normal since the departure of my old boss, the new guy has scammed me on my last two paycheques. 7 hours unpaid three weeks ago and 3 hours last week. I called him on it both times and the hours get added into the next pay period, but it sucks that I have to be policing it like this. The really shitty thing though was the mould. 2 weekends ago was the Calgary Folk Music Festival. It comes the week after the Calgary Stampede and makes me feel good to live in this city right on the heels of the thing that makes me feel the worst about living here, so it's usually a high point of my year. This year was still awesome, so good for that. The only downside was a ridiculous hail storm on the Friday night (this is an outdoor festival) that soaked me to my very core and made me hate everything for a while. The music was still great, and dammit I'm one of the hardcore attendees, so I sat in a hailstorm from 3pm to 11:30pm hiding under a tarp with my girlfriend. The rest of the weekend was blazing hot and sunny, so it made up for it. On the Sunday night though, super happy and relaxed from a weekend in the sun listening to folk/world music, we returned to my apartment and my girlfriend handed me a pillow with black spots on it saying "eew... This one can be yours..." I looked at the pillow and got concerned, so we pulled my bed out from the wall to discover a HUGE colony of black mould had been growing behind my bed. Turns out that the water seal between the wall of my basement suite and the ground outside had given way during all the crazy storms Calgary has been having lately and stuff had started to grow. On the plus side, my landlady has been really good about this. In fact, I'm currently living at my girlfriends while she pays contractors to rip out my bedroom walls and replace the whole deal. On the other hand, the best case scenario in this situation is still that I'm homeless for at least two weeks while all this happens. Also, when I was moving my bed to the living room to get all the furniture out of my bedroom for the construction, the bedframe fell into my TV, which was a really nice 52-inch TV that I'd inherited when my parents moved across the country and didn't want to take it with them. I can't afford a new one, so I get to have a TV with a big ol' crack in it until I can get the money together for a replacement. Also, I went to a doctor today who told me that inhaling all that mould has given me bronchitis, so now I need meds. Good times.

Yo, it's $15 on Steam again today. Given the hours that I've put into it so far, I'd say definitely give it a look if you were anywhere near the fence before.

I know it's a fairly minor part of that comic, but props for the "dickfinity" symbol. That's pretty clever.

We're actually quite nice, but our politicians and rodeos make me want to punch toddlers.

Same, but replace "Texas" with "Canadian Texas."

Ok, so I know from the fact that I have it in front of me that I have a DSi. I know from the podcast that Jake has a DSi. I know from talking to him that toblix has a DSi. That seems like enough of a community to at least start a discussion of DSiWare to me. So: What have people bought, and what are you still playing? Myself, I used my 1000 free points to get WarioWare and Aquia, both of which I played around with for a bit, but then kind of forgot about. Aquia was good, but just not really different enough for it to grab me. WarioWare was fun for a minute but quickly became dull. So I waited a while, and eventually PictoBits came out. This one has already got some love from Jake, but I'll also state that after picking it up on launch day, it's probably the most played portable game that I have. It's pretty much awesome. If you have a DSi and not this, get it. Dammit, get it. The game part is addictive and can be really difficult. The music is fantastic and the sound test mode keeps playing when you shut your system, meaning you can have it in your pocket with headphones and use it as a portable soundtrack player. I've beaten 22 of the 30 levels included now, stuck on the dark version of world 8. There are 15 levels, and then each level has a dark version as well. The dark version of world 1 is harder than the normal version of world 15, so it's a good idea to do the first 15 and then loop back around for the dark ones. I've also bought every track from the sound test mode except for the plus version of the end credits music. The end credits music, I must add, is worth buying the game for alone. Shit. Just buy this game already. If you're in the market for a DS and are trying to decide which version to get, this game alone would be as persuasive an argument as anyone should need for a DSi. I also got Mario vs Donkey Kong Minis March Again when it came out on Monday. I've always enjoyed the series, as Nintendo's watered-down answer to Lemmings. It's well made, charming, and overall pretty fun. Not amazingly deep or anything like that, and it's essentially what on any other system would be a DLC pack for Mario vs Donkey Kong 2 from a couple of years ago, but as a game I can jump straight into after booting up my DS, it's nice to have around. It's got about 50 levels in it, and while none of them are particularly challenging, (he says after completing the first 30...) that's a pretty respectable amount for $8. Finally, I picked up Dr. Mario a few weeks ago. It's fun, but nothing that really bears mentioning as it's still just another version of a game you already know. So what's the word on some other ones? Who has any of these, or what of other releases like Mighty Flip Champs? Have heard good things about that one, but have yet to try it myself. Now that the system's been out for a couple of months, let's get some talk going on it's exclusives.
