  1. TITANFLAPS 2

I ended up going with PS4 and am in love with the campaign right now. Also jumped in for a few rounds of multiplayer. I can see the appeal, but am terrible. Is anyone still active for games, or should I sign on with Giant Bomb if I'm looking to play with folks?
  2. Rockstar Games presents: Bully

I bought the update that they sold on PS4 to give it a try. Turns out it was just the PS2 version with trophies. I already have Scholarship Edition on PC, so whatever. I'd love to give the game a try on my tablet, but am terrified to try a game like that with touchscreen controls. Does anyone know how the GTAs play?
  3. TITANFLAPS 2

So am I to assume from the lack of response that there ISN'T really a thumbs community for this? I've heard that console has more players right now in general, so am leaning that way. I think I'd honestly rather play it with an Xbone controller than those squishy PS4 triggers, but a more involved thumb community would push me the other way. I need to make the call before bed tonight, so get back at me if you're playing somewhere specific!
  4. Miitomo

I kept using it way longer than most, but still dropped off around September. Worth going back?
  5. TITANFLAPS 2

So, where are people playing this? It's currently on sale on Xbone, PS4, and Origin and I'm willing to try any of them. Where is the Thumb community at?
  6. General Video Game Deals Thread

Anyone know how stable the PC version of Mafia 3 is? It's the same price on Steam and Xbone sales right now and I'm torn. In general, I'd rather PC, but this year has seen a weird upswing in shitty PC versions of games...
  7. The Next President

I've never had anything diagnose-able, but for what it's worth, I find that picking hobbies that improve me rather than just distract me has been really helpful for giving me a sense of control. Back in the day when it was just video games, I'd play games for an evening and then turn around and still feel terrible that nothing in my life had improved but time had passed. As time has gone on, I've got heavily into guitar and have started going to the gym three times a week as well. When I'm doing either of those things, I'm still not thinking about what's bothering me. When I'm done, I can turn around and say "AND now I'm better at a real skill/healthier than I was before!" Being able to see and mark improvement in my ability to play and physical health/appearance as a result of my hobbies has given me a very important feeling of control over my life when I'm down that I didn't have before doing so. I know our situations are very different (I'm a straight white male, and also in Canada), so take that for what it's worth. Hang in there. It's got to get better than this, and there are enough people out there who have your back and are going to work to make sure that it does.
  8. Thumbs of Four (Gears of War 4)

This Saturday isn't great for me anyway. My school is hosting a conference for Junior Highs from all over the province and as a guy who paid for teacher college by working as a theatre tech, I got drafted to run all of the stage stuff for the keynote speakers and such. I'll be at work pretty much continuously this weekend from 7:30 Friday morning until late afternoon Saturday. I think I'm actually sleeping in my classroom, which is a first for my career.
  9. Rocksmith

A year later, and it's time for another update: ...I am about to reach a pretty big milestone.
  10. Thumbs of Four (Gears of War 4)

Meh, you're only an hour ahead of me.
  11. Thumbs of Four (Gears of War 4)

So judging from you saying that it was about 2am when we stopped, I'm guessing you're 14 hours ahead of me. I work a 9-5 (actually 7:45 - 5:30, but whatever), so weekdays I will be getting home from school right about when you will be waking up, and it seems like vice-versa. Weekends I'm usually all right though, especially Saturday mornings as that is the only time that my girlfriend works and I don't, so I have the house to myself and can voice-chat without worrying about being obnoxious. I definitely started playing a bit faster and looser after the first few rounds, thinking that it would stay at about the same level of difficulty. When the combination of losing our third player and the difficulty curve ramping up hit, I was still playing like it was no big deal, so I definitely was sloppier than I should have been. I'll play around a bit and see what feels better between Scout and Soldier, though odds are that most of my online time will be Thumbs-focused. I don't think I've ever been into a multiplayer game in a big way that wasn't orchestrated around IT. From Grand Thumb Auto way back in 2008 to Formula Thumb with Forza 3 and pretty much anything else that didn't have a catchy name, it's always been Thumbs or ex-Thumbs that I've played with. I'm not a big multiplayer guy, but I've always enjoyed the extension of this community.
  12. Thumbs of Four (Gears of War 4)

That was good fun. I'd never played Horde before, and am only a few chapters into the campaign of Gears 4 at the moment, so that was my first encounter with a lot of things. Got pretty surprised by that boss that one-hitted me on wave 20 as I had no idea what the fuck it was. Whups. Sorry that I was trying to communicate via the text interface. I imagine it would have gone a lot better if I could have talked to people. I'll try and grab my headset from home to bring back to the place I'm at right now sometime before playing again. Thanks, twmac!
  13. Thumbs of Four (Gears of War 4)

I just got up. I'll give it a go. I'm house-sitting at the moment and didn't bother to bring a headset with me, so there's that. I've never played it before and have no idea how long it may go, so apologies if I have to drop unexpectedly and am unable to explain.
  14. Thumbs of Four (Gears of War 4)

I started it two nights ago on XBONE. Have been playing a chapter a night after work, so still in Act 1. I've never Gears-d multiplayer. Closest I ever got was about half of Gears 2 same-screen co-op with my step dad back in the day. I'd be up to give it a try. I assume that PC and XBONE can play with each other? I don't have a WIN10 version because I got a deal on the disc version and figured that only being able to play on console was worth the $30 trade off.
  15. I mean, Double Dash is objectively the best racing game ever made, so I'm not sure if that's a fair comparison. Horizon 3 is still pretty good.
  16. It gets the most tentative recommendation I can ever give to something. To quote myself from a different thread:
  17. Recently completed video games

I finished up Recore today. It really seems like a game that should be more popular with the Idle Thumbs community, to be honest. As a group, we seem to be drawn to the interesting but flawed games, and boy is this ever one of those. So much about it is so close to incredible, but always falls just a bit short. It's also completely unfinished. There is art on the cover and the disc of an entire type of robot buddy that didn't make it into the game, for example. This buddy has question-marked-out spots on 3 different menu screens, you can still collect parts for it, and there are entire "cut" dungeons that you can make your way to by Skyrim-ing around the environment that rely on using it. Seriously. It's such an obvious vacancy in the game that googling "Recore T8-NK" turns up conspiracy theories about its absence. Factor in that the critical path was less than 1/4th of my playtime (and I still felt like I didn't take that much time with the game) and that the final mission is about as long as everything else in the game up to that point (despite being mostly filler), and you have a decidedly "What the fuck why wasn't this given another year to become amazing?" game. It's extra tragic because what is here and complete is really good. The combat is dynamic and fun, the buddies and their different styles and upgrade paths are varied and cool, the traversal is really fun (yay jetboots!). All of the fundamentals that make the game a game are great. Technical hiccoughs aside, it's fantastic to play. I just wish they'd actually got to make a full game. I love it and hate it at the same time. It's super fun, but VERY flawed. If your tolerance for these things is high in the pursuit of interesting experiences, please try it. The more people do, the better chance they'll have a chance to make the game that this could have been in Recore 2. And yeah, there is of course a post-credits stinger that leaves room for one, so I'm going to hold out hope for at least a while.
  18. I got big into Recore recently, but should be back for more racing soon. The Horizon series isn't something I play intensely, but rather dip into as a break between other story-focused games. You'll be seeing me soon enough.
  19. Damn straight I do. I'm a bit too young to have played it in high school, but in fifth grade I permanently had a 3.5" disc in my backpack that I could put into any school computer and boot Liero from to play with my friends. That game was the shit.
  20. I played so much Dink Smallwood in junior high school. That game was both terrible and awesome. There is a part of me that is incredibly happy to know that other people even remembered it, let alone loved it. So many hours lost...
  21. I decided "I don't need FH3! I never beat Storm Island for 2! I'll just play that!" After a week, Storm Island is finished and I have now caved and bought FH3. I have just finished downloading, will be digging in over the next week or so. Question: Can PC and Xbox play with each other multiplayer? I'd play on PC given that I have this shiny 1070 in my rig, but from what I gather it's more throttled by the processor. My processor is the elder statesman of my PC, still an i5 from 2013, so I'm thinking I'll probably get better/more consistent performance from the xbox. Will I still be able to play against all y'all PC-ers? Either way, I'm Miffy495 on Live, same as here.
  22. Beyond Good and Evil 2

So... I should re-start BG&E HD now that I can download it on my Xbone?
  23. Pepe Politics

Yeah, my girlfriend has and loves that book. Was so weird to see Pepe in other contexts.
