Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Pretty much exactly this. I played the single player of Splatoon and actually loved it, but only ever got to about level 8 in the multiplayer. -

Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Yeah, if they decide to make a different model of joycon with a real d-pad that would be an instant buy. -

Fair enough. I feel weird when I even used d-pads on the PSP. Separate button d-pads just feel very wrong to me. Looks like I won't be buying anything like that until the stores nearby start getting pro controllers back in stock. Sort of bums me out for the prospect of Virtual Console, honestly. I'm sure it will be fine with a pro controller, but if it feels bad with the joycon then playing those games in bed just got a lot trickier. -

I'm curious about playing those without a pro controller, as the basic joycon don't have proper d pads. What are you using? Can you speak to the experience of just using joycon? It's honestly the main thing that's holding me back from taking a dip in a few of those. -

I was playing a lot of it until Zelda happened. Will probably go back sooner or later. -

Yeah, I just noticed "Mekar" pond in the Lost Woods and had a "wait..." moment. -

There's a lot of weird references to Link's Awakening in this game, considering it was all a dream. Mabe village exists in actual Hyrule now (even if it is only ruins)? Tarin mountain? Tal Tal Heights? Weird. -

Ok, so I did like 10 minutes of research and was reminded of a plot detail from Wind Waker: When Medli (Rito) is revealed to be a sage in that game, it also shows the ghost of the ancient sage she decended from, Laruto (Zora). Zora and Rito sharing the same bloodline. So there's that. EDIT: Really though, whatever. They can do what they want with this. I have finished the Zora's Domain section (rad as hell) and have no even looked at anywhere on the map outside of the Southeast yet after like 15 hours of play. I can forgive lore weirdness with a game this good. -

Yeah, the coexistence of Rito and Zora here confuses me as well. Maybe it was just me reading too much into both tribes being sources for Nayru's stone in separate games and was never actually said though? Tempted to go grab the Hyrule Historia off my bookshelf, but since it was released alongside Skyward Sword, I doubt it would have anything relevant to say. I may check out the Wind Waker section later just to see though. -
I have a copy sitting and staring at me that I hoped to start before Zelda came out. I did not accomplish this. Perhaps once Zelda is done. I do really want to play it.

My switch arrived a day before Canada Post predicted! Played up to leaving the plateau tonight. Not a lot to say other than the obligatory holy shit. This game is a very good game. I wandered around just a little bit and have now hit my second post-plateau shrine before calling it a night. So much that I love about this. Gonna play that second shrine in bed and then sleep. I think... -
I LOVED Tron 2.0 when it came out. Really curious to see your thoughts almost 15 years later.

Modest Tech: The NX Generation (Nintendo Switch)

Best Buy's website changed the ship date on my Switch from "as early as the 31st" to "as early as the 3rd"! I don't care that I won't have it on launch day. For me, the deadline is March 23rd, at which point I will have a full week off work for Spring Break. I intend to spend it completely lost in Hyrule. -

miffy495 replied to eRonin's topic in Video Gaming
My big concern right now is that my Switch may not arrive before the game does. Here in Canada, pre-orders are hard to come by and I though I put myself in for one the morning they became available, looking at shipping dates saying "before March 31st" has me concerned that I got a second shipment pre-order rather than a first. While this is definitely not "the biggest deal in the history of ever" or anything like that, it does mean that I may get the Switch at the END of March break rather than before it, so will have a week off work where I could be playing Zelda but will instead be looking at a boxed copy of the Switch game and wondering when the console will arrive. March is going to be a painful month for this unrepentant Nintendo fanboy. -
The friend who suggested "The Pick Of Destiny" and I have made this into a full-out war. We are texting each other movie titles in the middle of the night as soon as they occur to us. This is the worst, but also the best. My favourite suggestions so far have been: End of the Century The Great Train Robbery The Human Centipede Babe Pig in the City and the one I'm proudest of by far: And I said what about Koyaanisquatsi I have also recently been on a huge Steven Chow kick (spurred by going to see "Journey To The West 2: The Demons Strike Back" for Lunar New Year) that has motivated me to host a viewing party of some of his classics. Said friend is invited, so things have escalated with my naming of the event: ...send help.

Yeah, I have the original cable. Fun fact: it also just works as an analogue pickup, meaning that it can pick your guitar up in any situation that a microphone would.

My first electric was an Ibanez of a similar model to this one: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ibanez-Gio-Electric-Guitar-white-x/dp/B00HVUS6E4/ref=sr_1_3?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1487541155&sr=1-3&keywords=ibanez They don't seem to make the actual one I used any more, but for the price Ibanez makes a pretty good guitar. I now mainly play my SG, but I'm guessing that's beyond what you're looking for at this point. Les Pauls are great, but something to be aware of is that Epiphone is basically the budget brand for Gibson, and you can really tell the difference between playing a Gibson and an Epiphone even if they look the same from the outside. Epis are great for starter stuff (my bass is one), but if/when you want to take it more seriously, consider stepping it up. All guitars can be tuned in the same way (the only difference between them is headstocks), so if there's one that you love, don't let the fact that Rocksmith treats the Les Paul as the default stop you. I prefer Gibson aesthetics just as a personal choice (also Gretsch. Mmmm... Gretsch [link is to the model I have]), but if you love the look of a Fender, go with a Fender. Keep us posted on your play! I'm excited that there may be someone on my friends list other than 'blix who plays this now!
