  1. half-life

If it helps, here's what happened with me. I never actually owned HL1 up until summer 2004. I'd played it, sure, but it was a copy I'd borrowed from a friend. He lent me that and opposing force and I devoted a good period of time to them. When HL2 was imminent, I decided to pick up my own copy of the first one (on it's own, not in any pack) and played through for my second time. When HL2 came out, I picked up my preorder and installed it and steam. Steam asked me if I wanted to register any other valve games, so I went ahead and registered Half Life. Much to my surprise, it thanked me for registering my copy of the Half Life Platinum Pack (all the expansions, DoD, Counterstrike, the whole deal) and told me that I could now play them all through Steam. (no CD required) I spent $20 Canadian on Half Life and ended up having Steam give me the entire collection through a glitch. I don't know if I'm incredibly lucky or if this has happened to other people, but it's something to consider.
  2. Highway 17

I have. It hurt. Course, if I'm not the lynch-ee, could be fun.
  3. Just how awesome is the DS Lite?

Yes. Though I've had to change my mind since ol' clunky exploded. (metaphorically speaking, of course) Now this impending replacement version of clunky has no sentimental value for me, and I've already mourned clunky properly, so clunky 2: the reclunkening shall be passed on to the next in the line of family geeks.
  4. Highway 17

I have no hate for HL2. Ravenholm freaked me out so damn much, The journey through Citadel was fantastic, and Highway 17 was brilliantly paced. I don't think it's the Greates FPS Ever (for me, that spot is held by Tron 2.0) but it is a damn fine game.
  5. Headsmiley poll, round three!

I wouldn't have it any other way. Who needs votes when you're PURE GANGLY PURPLE EVIL?
  6. Futurama

All you need is one sentence: "i am bender please insert girder."
  7. Great Gaming Quotes

"THERE IS NO FUTURE IN YOUR DREAM." - Gitaroo Man (I believe it was Puma who said it first, followed by the villain during the climactic showdown.)
  8. half-life

There's short and then there's too short. It's not that I don't like short games. I've found in recent years that I spend far more time on the road than at home, so my portables are the systems on which I enjoy the epics, and the console and PC games need to be beatable within around 10 hours or I'll never end up finishing them. Still, with Blue Shift, it was like tha aliens didn't even WANT to kill me. They were just going through the motions and as a result, so was I. Quite dissappointing, really.
  9. Just how awesome is the DS Lite?

Too late. You can just imagine me screaming if you want to though.
  10. Lemmings PSP Music?

Wasn't Lemmings made by DMA? (Rockstar North pre-GTA inspired name-change) I could have sworn...
  11. half-life

Opposing force... drool. I wasted much of my time as a thirteen year old playing that game. Blue shift, worth a look, but can be beaten so damn quickly and really not worth full price. Getting all of them for $15? Are you fucking crazy? BUY IT!
  12. Just how awesome is the DS Lite?

Yay indeed! I have no idea what voltages etc Japan uses so this is happy news for me. Plus, I get a USB charger anyway in case I ever go to Europe and/or just want to have everything plugged into my PC at once.
  13. Headsmiley poll, round four!

all hail the hypnotoad. glory to the hypnotoad.
  14. Headsmiley poll, round three!

    Hooray! NOW it's ZOIDBERG'S turn!
  15. 'Gibbage' from Size Five Games

Heh. Quite enjoyable. Reminiscent of this game that my friends and I would always load onto the school computers in grade 6 and 7, Liero. Same kind of blood effects and such. Still haven't gotten the gamepad working quite right yet, but found a passable keyboard configuration that makes the game playable. Good job, an entertaining little diversion to say the least.
  16. Great Gaming Quotes

He wasn't saying that they were original quotes, just that they weren't quotes from Army of Darkness.
  17. Just how awesome is the DS Lite?

Impressive, and very cool that your gaming is so supported by the family. I still get weird looks from non-gaming relatives. My older sister was wary of me babysitting my nephews because I "play that Grand Theft Auto game." Bah, soccer moms in the family, what can you do but try to educate them? To anyone that has a lite already and resides in North America: From some of the things I've been reading online, it seems like other North American gamers are simply plugging their lites into regular wall sockets. Does that work, or am I much safer just using the USB thing? I'm running out of free USB slots and would hate to use up an extra one needlessly. Thanks.
  18. Just how awesome is the DS Lite?

hooray! To answer your question adfegg, my old and clunk DS has been, uhhh... overloved. I've played it so much that I've fucked up the touch screen. It's still under waranty, but I've been DS-less for about a month now as Best Buy is taking their sweet time in processing it. When I finally DO get my fixed/replaced old-style DS, the lite will probably already have been here for weeks. Thus, my younger sister shall be graced with a brand new (or at least competently restored) DS of her very own. Which is good as she tries to play mine whenever she's visiting my place. Gotta nerd the youngins up somehow, and I'm slowly converting my sister into a nintendo freak. She loves her cube, plays her SP frequently, and will soon have a DS. She's gonna make some nerd very happy one day, and I can feel satisfied that I have done my brotherly role-model duty.
  19. The Neo Double Games

Beautiful. It's like one of those "tries to be tetris but isn't" that dentists offices always seem to have to keep hyperactive four year olds placated.
  20. Another World Windows

Well, Moosferatu's under-name-location thing says michigan, and he seems to be getting along fine. I have had no problem here in Canada, and the policy to the two countries is usually identical.
  21. Great Gaming Quotes

"SHINE GET!" -Super Mario Sunshine "Bigger. We need it bigger." - the King, Katamari Damacy "Can someone shut this asshole the fuck up???" - anyone who's playing Burnout 3 reacting to the announcer "Trancending history and the world, a tale of souls and swords eternally retold..." - Soul Calibur (any)
  22. Any good games for the PsP?

Yeah, I forgot about tokobot. I always wanted to give that a try, but no one ever stocked it. Bastard game stores with their lack of stocking interesting and imaginative games.

  24. I Want to Play Condemned, but I Can't

Wait, it's on PC now? Bitchin' indeed. I gotta check that out.
  25. Just how awesome is the DS Lite?

I've actually been taking a course for a while (read: finished my first university course in it, starting the second in mid-may for the spring term.) now, but the language is switchable with approximately 5 taps on the touchscreen, so I don't think I'll have a problem. Stupid Easter weekend, I want them to ship the damn thing soon. Oh well. That GBA thing is a good point. I hadn't thought about that. Was the GBA really region free too? I've never had cause to import for it. If not, I've still got my SP, which has lasted me this long and doesn't seem likely to give out soon. Maybe this is how they expect people to buy a micro. "Well, you can't use your imported lite, so I guess you'd better grab one of our new GBAs to make up for it..."
