Since it looks like the maker (yes, it was made by only one guy) is currently paying attention to his forum and just had to ask in the most polite way possible. It says it right there: Are you new? Greenlight! EDIT: He says he got in before the Greenlight thing started.

I almost lost some progress due to another Steam cloud sync, but this time I could see the time stamp and it did say which was the newer one, either I was stupid last time, or they updated it?

Yeah, yeah, this is another post from me being butthurt because a game that I think would never have passed Greenlight is now on Steam and never even needed to go through the process, but seriously... Dead Pixels? I got this from an old indie bundle and it's just edited Mega Man sprites shooting edited Mega Man sprite zombies. While not awful, it's so ridiculously mediocre and derivative it's astounding it's on Steam and even more astounding that it didn't need to go through Greenlight, I would have been upset if this game had passed Greenlight before other more deserving games, but the fact that it didn't even need to go through it? This isn't even a proven game developer, it's their first game on Steam! Besides, the only XBLIG game with zombies Steam-worthy is I Made A Game With Zombies In It! I know some of you are getting annoyed with me constantly getting butthurt at what gets passed through Steam Greenlight, but come on! Sure, it won some awards on XBLIG, but... it's XBLIG, stickman games win awards, as a matter of fact, Dead Pixels was just a runner up, a kung fu stick man game was the winner of Dream Build Play. It also claims to have an award from a site that no longer exists. I'll shut up now, because I really hope Steam can't do "worse" than this... Unless a Double Fine game somehow lands on Greenlight? That would be hilarious and awful at the same time.

I got the Alan Wake games from the recent sale, but since I played the original on the 360, I just played American Nightmare and... while I like the story and such... Oh, do I LOATHE the combat, I don't know I should bring this to the Alan Wake thread, but seriously, it feels just wrong. Fast and "swarmy" enemies and yet you can only focus on one a time. It's like Dead Space, which thinks it's a survival horror game just because it has a horrible inventory system and Alan Wake just has very frustrating combat... The game is an asshole, whenever I try to make the enemies come to me so I can pick them off, it magically spawns an enemy behind me, the fact that the game gave more and more ridiculous weapons made me think that the whole horror was an illusion, it's not scary when you get an assault rifle and it really lost it's horror cred to me when it did just like in one of the F.E.A.R. games and had "epic music" play during certain intense combat situations. I'm sorry, but feeling like a badass is the last thing you want to feel while playing a horror game, the epic music ruined the mood. So, I gave the game the middle finger and instead of fighting the army of enemies running towards me while epic music played, I used flares until I reached the checkpoint. The worst part?

Are they immune to smoke grenades? By then I switched to flesh eating bugs and poison gas. Or maybe the flash bang would blind them?

I haven't watched the show and I don't think I will, I just want to join to HUZZAH for Walking Dead chorus! HUZZAH! Congratulations!

Argh! Didn't you cover your PSX in post-its with "TURN THIS OFF AND I'LL MURDER YOU PAINFULLY!" on it?

Frankly, what even counts as contributing to a forum? Making interesting threads? Thoughtful posts? Being funny?

If memory serves me well, it doesn't even tell you the hour the sync was made, just the day, I know I was stupid for choosing the server option, but still, if the hour the sync was made was there, I wouldn't have made that mistake.
-
I lost some progress from the Steam cloud sync, I had a cloud sync error and foolishly choose the one from Steam, which was several hours before. Mental note: Always choose the files on your drive, unless you're syncing from a new computer.

Come to think of it, wouldn't a certain item that you get near the end make a non-lethal game much easier?
-
I kinda find that stupid, because all he has to do is whack them with the hilt of his sword to K.O. them, or something else. Mechanically, it makes no sense, how can NOT know how to knock out a person? Specially when he can K.O. a dog with one hit! Anyway, I just beat it and I love the gameplay. Can you really get enough points by simply evading all enemies? You only get 200 if they pass in front of you and didn't get seen. You get 250 points just by hiding their body. And how on Earth do you get by some of the laser systems without dragging a body? I had some hilarious moment with the terror mechanic, I had no idea you could dump bodies to the lower level and scare everybody into killing each other. The power suit ladies make no sense, how can they sense me even from behind, but they will run into a bomb clearly visible on the floor? But what really bothered me about the game is the

The Cave: Ron Gilbert's Double Fine Game (A Tim Schafer Production) (Not Double Fine Adventure)
Tanukitsune replied to Nappi's topic in Video Gaming
Depends on the voice actor and the delivery, sometimes the voice you make in your head when you read the line is funnier and sometimes it's the voice actor. The narrator was pretty good, not too monotone, not too hammy. Although I would have preferred if he hammed up the "AND MURDER!" line. But does this mean the only one to talk will be the narrator? -
Suggestions for a Civ and simulation game player.
Tanukitsune posted a topic in Strategy Game Discussion
Frankly, until recently I was convinced I didn't like strategy games, but I just don't like RTS ones. One of my favorite games as a kid was Sid Meier's Pirates and I just found out it's classified as strategy. Apart from playing games like Sim Ant, Sim City, Sim Earth, or similar once in a blue moon, the closest thing to a strategy game I've played was the Pikmin series, which I think I enjoy more because it's more about survival and not about war like in the other RTS-like games. One day, I actually dared to buy Civ Revolution on the cheap and I actually figured out how to play it (on chieftan) and enjoyed it. But I was convinced I could never get into the "real deal" and yet, I bought Civ V when it went on sale and once again, I enjoyed it! I got Warlock: Master of the Arcane and enjoyed it too! I even found an old copy of Civ II, which crashes way too much on my PC, but I did enjoy what I manage to play. I got Total War: Shogun 2 and didn't fare as well, the time limit seemed too strict and while I wasn't losing, I was winning fast enough. (I don't enjoy controlling troops RTS style, so I always auto-battle). I also just couldn't get into Tropico, it's more or less Sim City in the tropics, yet I lost interest pretty fast. And after playing a few RTS demos, I realized that I don't want to play with troops, I like taking care of cities and I like "eXtermination" of the "4X" games the least. Where to next? Should I leave my area of comfort of Sid Meier and Will Wright games? Would Alpha Centauri or Sins of the Solar Empire be too much for a Civ "chieftain"? Are there non-Maxis management games worth my time? When we will get Sim Llama? If it helps, the only other strategy games I've played and enjoyed I can recall are Castles II and Defenders of the Crown (the remake), I may have played others, but as with Pirates, my brain just doesn't classify then as such. PS: I kinda like playing on chieftan, it's fun to trample troops with a tank when they just started tinkering with the trireme. -
I just 100% LEGO Lord of the Rings and I must say, this is the closest you'll get to a LEGO RPG. The game's world is the largest's yet, so big it has quick travel between areas and a "bread crumb trail" system that before only led you to the next mission, but now leads you to side quests and bricks. Yes, this game has sidequests, within each level you'll find not only the minikits, but a blueprint and three treasure items, completing the side quests is as "simple" as getting the item the side quest givers asks for. I mentioned blueprints just a second ago, well, you'll use your bricks to forge items needed for quests, but most items also give powers you wouldn't normally have as a character, like giving a bow to a non-elf and such. As for the silly bits? It's mostly in cutscenes where you'll see some character goofing off while something serious is being said, speaking of which, I'm positive they just took the lines from the movies and didn't hire the people who worked on it. It's hard to describe, but sometimes they sound "echo-y". One of the new "cheat bricks" brings 8-bit music to the game, which was pretty awesome. The worst part? Keys and cranks, sometimes they are very hard to find and far away from the place you need them. Oh, and the game has an item that's called Skeleton Key, but doesn't open anything... To sum it up, Traveler's Tales is getting better and better with each game. Can you believe they actually have graphics settings for a LEGO games? Motion Blur, bloom, FSAA... That's a first.

Wasn't To The Moon made in RPG Maker?

Oh, just because I think Gabe Newell is really a robot operated by animated garden gnomes I'm a nutter, right? He wants us to stay inside so we can't see what his fellow garden gnomes are up to! You'll see... YOU'LL ALL SEE.... That I'm just upset that the games I liked didn't pass the test and I'm lashing out and grasping at straws?

The Average PC gamer? Yes. the average Nintendo gamer? Not so much, they made Contra 4, the new A Boy And His Blob, the Shantae games, Alien Infestation... they made the Adventure Time game and the new Mickey game on the 3DS. They aren't BIG big, but they are big enough. And last time I heard, most people hate FMV games, I can't remember the last time anybody said anything good about them without being ironic. DON! When are we getting The Secrets of All Fievel's go the Land Before Time 47?
-
Well, the fact that they made Primordia go through Greenlight only to then let it bypass the process does upset me a little. They probably did it as a favor since so it would get Greenlit in time for it's release, but then why make them go through it? I dunno, maybe the Steam people aren't the kind of people who would even know La-Mulana or other games that I think should have passed. WayForward shouldn't even be here, they've been here making games since the GameBoy Color, but I guess the average Steam user has never played any of their games, but still... Euro Truck Simulator 2? Dragon's Lair? I'm probably the only person here who likes FMV games and I find it hard to believe it passed the test. Which game is I_Smell's?
-
Well, the latest batch is out and... frankly, I don't care anymore. I'm a fan of Wadjet Eye games, but how on Earth did it manage to get Greenlit so quick? And were is La-Mulana? You know what? I think they are just making up the numbers as they go to give them time to review the games. Heck, I even believe they are forcing good developers to go through Steamlight just to have less "crappy" games there. There are just too many cases of "Why on Earth does this game have to go through Greenlight" and too many of "how on Earth did this get any votes?" for me to care about how the voting works anymore. I_Smell, you were #4 the last time I heard, did you make it?

How many games will be on sale on the Xmas sale that weren't on sale on the last one? I doubt it will be that much, maybe I'll be lucky and FTL will be cheaper, but I don't see any games in my wish list dropping price so soon.

The Magical Realms of Tír na nÓg: Escape from Necron 7 - Revenge of Cuchulainn: The Official Game of the Movie - Chapter 2 of the Hoopz Barkley SaGa

Yeah, how many of the Kickstarters we talked about are actually from people who are hurting for money? They're not living on food stamps, they just can't afford their endeavor. -
Yeah, a game with so endings that are so different shouldn't have a sequel, at least not with Corvo. It's not like Corvo had much of a personality, well I guess he has the personality of your chaos level? Too bad you couldn't play a sequel in which the world is shaped by your decisions in the previous game, like Walking Dead, but I doubt it would be possible in a larger game. Imagine getting the good ending and playing a sequel where even the thugs respect you because you saved their boss and every is happiness and sunshine, people would hate it, but it would be hilarious. The game is called "Dishonored", Corvo lost his honor and regains it, it would be lame to just "Dishonor" him again. We need a new character and a new place, but in the same world... and the first mission should be on a whaler boat, because of reasons.

Man, is anybody else running out of room on their hard drive with all these sales? I'm going to have delete the next ones as soon as I beat them.
