Since when do angry fanboys need to have played a game to hate it? Even Autumn and Winter? I didn't have much to do during those season... there was no life on the island.

If you have a mouse next to your name, you own the game, there is one guy in the forums who is particularly upset about this game... WHERE IS THE STORY, GAMEPLAY AND PROGRESSION!?!? They all claim. To me exploration is a valid type of gameplay and you do progress through the seasons and there is a story in the sense of "Did I tell about that time in Proteus I followed some animal and I found a tiny isle with a giant tree with birds that made 8-bit music under it?". It was pretty great, I did have a moment when it got very quiet and dull and then We are not supposed to be able to enter the houses, right?

What I don't get is why are people buying this if they don't like "pretentious hipster crap"? If you are COD kiddie, why would you even click on this? WHY DID YOU EVEN BUY THIS? I'm beginning to understand why Tale of Tales left Steam now... I just bought the game myself, the game wasn't for sale until much after it was available for some reason.

Man, lately the Groupees bundles seem to be the better ones, at least in the sense of having games I don't own. The KISS bundle (Keeping it Simply Simple) has King's Bounty's Warriors of the North, Lucius, Vivisector, iBomber Attack, J.U.L.I.A. and Planet Alcatraz all for only 5$.... The new King's Bounty is just 30€ alone, so it's worth it for me. Through Savy Gamer I found a site that has limited Steam Keys and doesn't force you to register.... it does force you to give them a cell number for a verification code, but they accept Paypal? Anyway, they have the new Devil May Cry for only 12€! And they only have 8 keys left at this time.

Did you just more or less just arrive in the city? It sounds like you have more than half the way to go.

That tends to be the average reading experience unless you're REALLY really into. Doesn't that apply to games and shows too? If you play a game or watch a show irregularly you also lose parts of the story, or in case of the game, you'll forget how to play it altogether. How on Earth did you get Discworld as school work? I never got anything actually fun to read when I was in school.

Crispin's voice actor is the same as Joey Mallone in the Blackwell games, so he's got practice at being the snarky sidekick character. I really love the world's design and lore and I love how I don't think this needs a spoiler, but you can sometimes solve some puzzles in more than one way.... what is a spoiler is that

John Hodgeman's Complete World knowledge will tell you everything you ever needed to know... with completely untrue, yet humorous, facts. The final book is a bit annoying since it has way too much ALL CAPS because THE DERANGED MILLIONAIRE MUST BE HEARD?! While not a gut-burster, I enjoyed Edward Lear's Complete Nonsense. It's Victorian limericks and world play and I find the made up word quite scroobious... umbragious even! OK, I haven't actually read this one, but there is a Black Jack Justice novel, I follow the series which is great and it's the same writer, it's a good Noir comedy, while still remaining true enough to Noir standards, if not making fun of Noir tropes, but in a more clever way that just pointing and laughing at them.

Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I gave some of my older RPGs a seconds chance and I'm pretty sure I can't play any older Western RPG, except maybe Fallout in the same way I can't stand most modern JRPGS. I'm sorry, Planetscape Torment, you seem fine, but I lost interest the moment I left the mortuarty only to enter a town of thieves and harlots. I tried to explore and learn the lore, but I just couldn't give a damn... :| -
I just read pdf comic on my tablet and it looked great, all I had to do was swipe to pass the page.

Ah yeah, Discoworld is probably my favorite book series... I never knew they existed until the first adventure game, but I couldn't get my hand on them in my country. Luckily, we went on a family trip to London and I bought ALL THE BOOKS! It killed me to sell the books, specially when I found out about the cover art, but I was out of space and I got them all in audiobooks... Now that I have a tablet I might by the ebook versions of all of them again. I have no idea whether to get the audio or ebook version of Dodger... Has anybody read the Johnny Maxwell and Bromeliads books? Those were pretty awesome too.

Primordia and why I've had enough of this AGS resolution bullshit

I've enjoyed Let's Plays of many of them, but I never played them myself.- 54 replies

Hmm, so even if there was a better engine, AGS would still be easier to use? But you said DFA could do it if people started working on it, right? I wouldn't be surprised if the Double Fine fanbase could figure a way to make it more accessible sooner than later. I hope they make enough "Tim and Ron's Magical Adventures" to make the Reality of the Norm series look tiny in comparison.- 54 replies

What about Daedalic Entertainment? Do they use their own engine? My German isn't good enough to find out, but they are pretty good at making adventure games.- 54 replies

I'm not so sure if it's the same person anymore, this is even worse than the Ron/Dave Gilbert thing... I'm pretty sure there is a popular indie adventure developer called Jim Schafer just because of reasons. Or Ron Schafer Grossman Lowe Williams from Andromeda. But yeah, it was called Lassie Engine and the game was Nearly Departed. It looks like there aren't many Lassie games, I could only find one complete game made with that engine.- 54 replies

I think there is (or was) a adventure game engine for flash, I don't remember the name of it, but the guy who does backgrounds for WadjetEye made a demo for a game he never finished it. You should see the kind of games they make with AGS, I've played platform and RPG games made with that engine. But I think WadjetEye is kinda the only place where they sell AGS games, I think the only time I got AGS games for money that wasn't from WadjetEye was an exclusive indie bundle. It's the same way for RPGMaker games, they are a lot on sale, but they seem to be from only one or two companies. I agree that it sucks that it's so limited with it's options, but didn't Chris Jones the guy who created the engine, get his "Project Fedora" funded? Who knows, he might make AGS II for this occasion? Maybe it's just better for pixel art, because all the modern adventure games I know with good pixel art are AGS ones.- 54 replies

The Cave: Ron Gilbert's Double Fine Game (A Tim Schafer Production) (Not Double Fine Adventure)
Tanukitsune replied to Nappi's topic in Video Gaming
It also really sucks that this game only has one save, you if you want to see a characters second ending you have to play the game TWICE! Does that mean everybody also got the Zoo level too? -
Yes, as far as I know this is only one where you have to do this manually.

Kentucky Route Zero - A Game in Five Acts

I finally got the game and... I kinda expected more blue grass music, instead I got eerie ambient sounds. You want game this reminds me a bit of? Home, but with dialogue options. I got a little lost trying to find the tackle shop the girl mentions and found If this game really is like Home I expect how you play the game will change how you think about the game... My opinion is So will this game continue with the adventures of the duo with the doggie or will it be different people each act?- 62 replies

All the Blackwell games had a notes/clues section, which is more or less your STM and you could combine them to create new clue or ask people about them.

I'm no expert so I don't know if that's due to limitations with the engine or not... :|

Since I don't have any room for physical books, I really needed an eReader, I got a tablet for my birthday and it's pretty great, I just add the Kindle app and it's like having a Kindle with a smaller battery life, it's specially great since I got a cover that can be used as a hands free stand, so when you're feeling sick or lazy you just have to flick to pass the pages. My father got an actual Kindle, which was pretty neat since it's a bit more versatile than the Kindle app, since it sees how fast you read and predicts how long it will take you to finish the book. He only uses to read public domain books. ThunderPeel is right about the reference books, it's always easier to find a page in a real book than in a digital one, unless the book is formatted very well and let's you skip from the index to a certain section by clicking on it?

I've never heard of a hi-res AGS game, I don't think the engine can even handle hi-res graphics?

On a whim I got The Mask Omnibus Vol. 1 & 2 and they are pretty great. While in the cartoon, the whole world has a bit cartoony look and the movie The Mask sticks out like a green thumb, in the comics the characters look "realistic" and don't seem to clash with The Mask or "Bighead's" look and antics at all. This version is much more violent and even when a good person wears the mask they mask will always take over and while they are doing want they want, the mask always twists it and they end up going to far and doing something relatively terrible. Only the original series has The Mask in a Zoot suit, in the rest the look changes depending on who wears it, and I've yet to see it referred to as "Loki's mask", but I have seen scenes that inspired the movie and cartoon... Man, the movie would have been awesome if Walter was in it. The one thing that surprised me the most is that It's still in the middle of Vol. 2, but I've loved all of what I've read so far... there was a series in which The Mask meets and fights other Dark Horse heroes... And boy are they so 90's! I only recognized Barbwire though.
