  1. General Video Game Deals Thread

Same here, so far the only game I enjoyed from the Humble Monthly that I didn't have already is Titan Souls....
  2. Recently completed video games

I just beat Titan Souls and I really like it, it's the only game from this Humble Monthly bundle that I didn't own and enjoyed. I've always whined about how some games artificially make games longer and harder by making enemies for ever to die, so I'm delighted to say the bosses in Titan Souls die in one hit, the thing is, you only have ONE ARROW which is soul bound to you and will fly back to you with the press of a button. The "summon arrow" action plays a lot in boss battles, not only because you only have this arrow, but sometimes you must position the arrow in the right place and get the enemy from behind. You are completely immobile and defenseless while summoning it, adding to the challenge.
  3. Longplays and Let's Plays?

I don't know if I'm the only one person here who does this, but I love watching longplays and Let's Plays! A longplay is a video someone playing a game from the beginning to the end, while a Let's Play is (as far I know) the same thing with commentary, and episodic, usually 10 minutes each time, but they do play the whole game too! Cubex55 is owned by lots of longplayers and has tons of videos, so if you like longplays, it's a must see! DerSchmu does C64 longplays, although you have to go to their mainsite to see the longer ones... As for Let's Play the only one I know who is entertaining enough to me is Deceased Crab.... HUZZAH! So... Do you watch longplays or Let's Plays? Which do you like? LIKE ME, BABY!
  4. RetroThumbs

I wouldn't be so sure Nintendo would do that, I can't say much without spoiling it, but if US Nintendo can't handle petting humans on the head in the new Fire Emblem, they will never release Mother 3, the US side of Nintendo seems to be ridiculously conservative compared to the Japanese side. Get the fan translation.

I just beat Demon Gaze, which is like "My First Wizardry", not in the sense that it's easier, but it is easy to digest and understand, which is good because now I feel more prepared to play a more "hardcore" Wizardry game like Elminage. There are no class changes, but you can access all classes from the start and there is no worrying about your specs or alignment. The games main features is that it has artifact that allow you to use skills from other classes leasing to slightly game breaking combination and the capture and use of demons which give you certain stats boosts and power and even fight in the battle with you, for example Mercury will randomly heal you in battle and even has a health regeneration spell. I know feel ready to play other Wizardry style games, even the actual Wizardry series?

I recently beat The Firemen 2: Pete & Danny, a game about firemen putting out the fire in an amusement park of sorts, which gives the game a wide variety of areas to visit, including... a dino park where you fight a robo-T-Rex that's out of control? The game might be too boring with normal fire, so this fire is somehow intelligent? Bigger fires spawn smaller ones that may bounce around or track you, making them your top priority. I spent most of the game gawking at the lovely pixel art and trying to understand the Japanese.
  7. Blade & Soul

Is anybody else playing this MMO? It's a Korean MMO with a bit of the "Hidden Dragon Crouching Tiger" style and will it's fine, it would be nice to play with others. I've only played a few hours in the EU server (Sping well?), but I'm willing to restart if enough people are on another server. I am playing as the tiniest rabbit girl!

I have just noticed the US PSN has a PSN Essentials and I'm almost tempted to post about this in the "retro" thread since I want to ask about a few titles. They have the first Parasite Eve game, which never came out in Europe, so that's a must, but... Just how bad is the PSOne port of Chrono Trigger? Having a portable version of this game would be nice. Chrono Cross and Xenogears, are they worth getting?

Is it playable solo or just co-op? I just beat Tales From the Borderlands and man, I can pretty much say I liked it more than the normal games, you all the good and funny writing, but without having to shoot thing for 20 hours between each funny line. I actually made a choice by mistake, thinking it was a horrible idea, but decided to just stick with it and.... it payed out in the end!
  10. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I quit Supreme League of Patriots, the first episode was OK-ish, but at the end of that episode the superhero becomes incredibly racist, sexist and homophobic or as the game says.... "A Republican", ha ha, the wit... When you talk to the gay super hero, it was just too uncomfortable, they tried to "justify" it by having the hero "enjoy" the abuse, but... yeah...

Artifact Adventure, a game made to resemble old JRPGs like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy, while being complex and tough but fair. The game is flooded with sidequests, and while many are pretty obvious, like someone asking you to poor something in the guard's drinking barrel, others will be much MUCH harder to know if you did the right thing, will you help the endangered animal or kill it? Will you help the wizard or slay it? Will you take the artifact that keeps the town's economy afloat or take it? The game has SOOO many spells, and oddly enough the "Auto-fight" option's AI is almost too good, I could practically use auto-combat all the time. The healing items kinda suck since they become useless pretty soon as you never get any better healing items. Supreme League of Patriots: Episode 1, it's an episodic adventure about a loser wannabe actor who is trying to get into a superhero talent show with the hopes of some talent agent seeing him and hiring him for something else. The humor is... better than Randall's Monday? I didn't get most of the referential humor and they do stupid things like play Latino music the moment you get close to the Latino character. But the plot was mildly interesting near the end and I'm willing to at least play the next chapter.
  12. The terrible wallet scourge of the Amiibo.

I got Wooly Yoshi and Isabelle Amiibos for my birthday, now I only need Rosalina.... which costs a fortune... Wooly Yoshi seems to function like a normal Yoshi in terms of unlocking things, right?
  13. The thing is I restarted the game and I'm still getting cameras in the Slums after about 10 days. And there is no way I'm making enough money to get the hacking to level 3 with so much things happening in the Slums. Maybe I should restart AGAIN and try to move to the next area as soon as I can afford it? At least if I keep failing I'll make a few more bucks? My problem isn't getting into the level, it's making it to a computer and making it out alive, if I'm lucky enough to make inside the computers are usually under a camera I'm helpless to stop. EDIT: I reinstalled the game and that seems to solve it? At least I'm finally in the next area and slowly progressing. This time I also messed up, but when I returned to previous area, at least I could still complete heists? EDIT EDIT: Wow, I'm at the third area and it almost doesn't matter if I'm successful anymore? The Bugs are giving me more money that I could ever make in a proper heist!
  14. That means I have to waste two bombs from above? But I only have three and the place is crawling with cameras.
  15. How on Earth do you deal with cameras? I restarted but they still seem to appear in the slums after 10 days or so. I thought a bomb would deal with them, but apparently they're bomb proof? I think I messed up by buying the upgrade that lets you smash through doors instead of passage to the next level, now I'm lucky if I can even find an entrance that doesn't have mines and cameras in them.

I just got Nihilumbra from PSN+ and it was quite an enjoyable game. You are a shadow creature escaping through the void into another world, where you learn about the world and gain new powers. Cibele: Since I didn't know how it would end I grew increasingly worried and uncomfortable... Exile's End: This is a funny story, this game is nothing more than an updated version of Inescapable who got RUINED because people though it was a "vania" was it was pretty linear. The new version simply yells at full volume NOT A METROIDVANIA in it's description when this game is a pretty decent vania compared to the other version. The downside? Puzzle-wise it doesn't explain anything, I only knew the solution to some puzzles because they were the same in the other game. One door is only destroyed by a fully charged blast from a weapon you have no idea that is has this function. Also some items are almost useless, I got a cloaking that I never needed and a detonator that I only need for one puzzle. The bosses? Very disappointing, they have very obvious patterns and all you have to do is spam the grenade button. Almost every game from "Mommy's Best Action Pack: What can I say? They are good arcade fun with some minor twists in some titles. In Shoot 1UP, the 1UP you earn join your ship and you have control over the formation, the more spread out they are the more damage you do, but obvious the easier they die off.
  17. Things in games that terrify you irrationally

    There is a certain flower that's an expert in messing with your mind that really freaks me out... ¬_¬;
  18. General Video Game Deals Thread

I think it's safe to safe the Humble Monthly bundle will have a few co-op games each month, since each month has had at least two of them. I'm also tempted to quit... But Alien Isolation is very tempting.
  19. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

Some people use the word trolling simply when someone is being sassy or salty, or even when making a very obvious joke and the derailment of a thread thing as a troll's objective is a first for me, I always thought it was about pushing your buttons on purpose? To others "trolling" seems to go from benign joke or sassiness to online abuse and treats or worse. But while some people are called trolls for simply misquoting and misspelling on purpose, I'm pretty sure that no matter what your personal definition of troll is, here where are simply talking about the aspect of online abuse they have?
  20. Life is Strange: Tween Peaks

Maybe I should have labelled the spoiler for both games? I kinda expected it was obvious since I was comparing them. ; But yeah, it's nothing too major or too specific. I'm kind glad I didn't give names now.
  21. Life is Strange: Tween Peaks

I just beat the game and... I can't help to compare it to Steins;Gate.
  22. General Video Game Deals Thread

So, is this really the end of the flash sales? It seems to have been replaced by getting cards from just looking at your "discovery queue", which is strangely generous. I guess since you don't get card from voting on the next flash sale, this makes sense.
  23. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

I'm really not feeling it with Dangan Ronpa 2, I haven't reached the first murder and I'm groaning a lot. It's one thing to have the obligatory fanservice, but when a girl someone gets herself in some weird S&M tied up fetish... Ugh. When I talked to her, she constantly asked me if she should take off her clothes... UGH! I looked up the "Free Time" Guide and I found out you get PANTIES when you max out friendship UUUGHGGHHHHH! Should I bother to continue? Does it get better or worse?

Welp, I've finally beaten Steins;Gate and... it utterly destroyed me emotionally. Like all great VNs, you can't really talk about it that much except that it's about time travel and it somehow works. The game is full of jargon, but it explains them all in a "tip system" and since it's Japanese.... there will be a pervy moment or two, one character is a full on perv and will make quite a few pervy comments and it has a bit of transphobia, I'm seriously debating if I love this more than Undertale, it's definitely more or a roller coaster ride, that's for sure.
