Engh, I'm so tempted to click on the spoilers.... If this was Frog Factions I'd still be at the first pond wondering why people say this game is great. But since I know it's like FF, I will endure!

I got this from PSN+ too and just in time since I just finished the HD Trilogy and... It kinda sucks? The game has many plot points that are ignored after the fact or don't make sense: As for the gameplay... the checkpoint system is ludicrous, even on the easiest setting there are levels where there are NO checkpoints. Then again, the levels are way too small, so it evens out? The game feels dumbed down, I never felt like I deserved the Silent Assassin rankings I got in this game, it's just too... simple? You find a guard alone and next to a place to hide the body way too easily and the victims are always alone for more than enough time to kill them, in Blood Money even on Easy I could mess up and had to go gun-ho a few times and I only got one silent assassin rank, in this game? I never had to resort to excessive gunfire. They have taken too much and added things that only make it worse... 47 will drop his costume at the beginning of each level, he never keeps his weapons (How is this a Hitman game if you barely have the Silverballers for half the game?) and the game in overall doesn't let you be as creative as any of the other games. You barely use poison, you almost never get a sniper rifle (and yet the game has an upgrade for this), the lockpicking is only kept for the exit of the level, nobody ever searched you for weapons and 47 can now hide a tank in his jacket and yet he can only hold one of each.

Dragon's Crown: Gaze past the giant witch tits

I've been a fan of this company since Odin's Sphere and I don't care what people say, I want to play this game, specially on the Vita... Vanillaware graphics on the Vita screen? YES, please! I had almost forgotten about Queen Odette, but it looks like it's normal for them to have at least one female... like.. this... ¬_¬ -
System Shock 2 has been released on Steam, which mean there is a thread from GOG users whining because they bought there because they were told it was an exclusive? *shrugs*

What makes him even more annoying is how he wont shut up about babes and boobs... Anyway, I got the Cartoon Network Punch Time Explosion XL game and... You'd think it have better animated cutscenes... and voice acting... The have most of the original voice actors, but the have no more than four sounds they make apart from the announcer. But it was a fun nostalgia trip, some characters looked better in 3D than others and it was funny how they added Captain Planet as a playable character and how Flapjack and K'nuckles fight Stickybeard. And yeah, it's a blatant Smash Bros. clone, but it's fun enough with it's story mode and in game everything is good looking enough and filled with background details and it was dirt cheap too!

Well, I just completed Okami HD, and I do mean "completed", I did all sidequests, all treasures found and I even did all the fishing minigames to fill the fish database... I think I might like fishing minigames? I got Platinum, but I don't care, I'm just sad there is nothing more to do with this game, which is weird since this game feels long at the same time? If the game ended after the first "big" boss I would have been more than happy. Is it me or is this game ridiculously easy? I always had too much money, items to even be close to dying not even once. Of course, since it's a Japanese game, Issun is total pervert and "Ammy" has.. explosive poop? JAPAN?!?

Using modern technology to help you with games.

You could just take a screenshot with the Steam overlay and then edit it with whatever software you have? Even MSPaint would work for this. Or if you can't take a screenshot, take a photo and edit that, it's better than nothing. That doesn't really count if it's the game itself that does the helping. Hmm, I think there are few games like Skyrim, which have unofficial "helper apps", which allow mapping, quest tracking and similar things? -
Wasn't there an Chinese MMORPG that taught you Chinese? I can't remember the name though?

So what is FZ: Side Z? Another remix or the original?
-
Yeah, the rhythm blocks were my favorite part in the game too and I know people are going to hate me for this but...

I'm a big fan of Podcastle, Pseudopod and Escapepod, I really love short fiction, but I think I've reached my "podcast limit", if I had another podcast I'll have to delete another one or I won't have time to listen to them all. But... I will still give The New Yorker Fiction Fiction a shot. (Damn, I even have a backlog of podcasts!)

Wow, all I can say so far is.... Poor Vincent and...

It looks like the Lego City Undercover now has a port or side game for the 3DS, which is great since I love LEGO games and I don't want to buy a Wii U yet.

Hmm, I don't know if this should go in the game forum, the book forum, or both, but there is an ebook bundle with game related books including two books from Jordan Mechner!

I think quite a few shooters did the thing where you could pick up the power ups you lost when you died, or at least when you lose a continue? Oh please, Wikipedia says Splatterhouse is survival horror, which makes me realize this is the completely opposite situation for each term. Survival horror is relatively recent genre and people are constantly insisting that games that existed before the genre are actually from this genre when they aren't, although a few examples are actually valid. The power up is a practically extinct thing in the world of gaming that that everybody is insisting exists in games when they aren't, although a few examples are also valid. Giant Bomb is a wiki and is as valid as Wikipedia... If a pickup is permanent it's an upgrade, the game can call it a power up, but it isn't... an upgrade is usually irreversible, put power, but it's definition is something that can be lost, therefore if you can't lose it, it cannot be a power up.
-
No, power ups are something of the bygone arcade and platform era of continues and coin-ups, not some spell you cast in an MMO before entering a instance. Not to mention buffs are perks that are usually gained permanently (if not can be gained from a certain place or person with relative ease), but with with temporary effects that can be used again and again, powers are gone for good once you lose them which is how they are different from perks and upgrades.
-
I don't think buffs count, since you're you one producing them, power ups are always pick ups.

I could say adventure games are my favorite non-violent games, but they tend to violent non-directly. You either put laxative in some drink to get some keys, or you create a Rude Goldberg device to knock someone out. There is no blood, but if you don't knock someone unconscious, you at least ruin their day, if not their life. Journey was a beautiful game, and while you get attacked, you don't cause harm on others. But I still consider adventure games to be my favorite "non-violent" games, since the violent is usually unintentional or incidental and never the focus of the game,,, Well, unless it's Harvester. :|

Yeah, I came here thinking this thread would be about power ups and it's about upgrades and perks. Aren't real power ups practically extinct? Power ups are non-permanent powers, like Mario's Fire Flower, but the concept evolved to upgrades and perks, probably because games are longer now?

I don't get or like the "Omaha" rules, I have to make a bet with only 2 cards? That's ludicrous! I think I'll just wait for a compilation of all the dialogue in the game. :| Also, it's ridiculous that you can just fold until one person is left.
-
Yeah, there is way too much to summarize in a simple forum thread, the story is kinda structured in a messy way with all the timelines, which only makes things harder, but I can reply to your questions, read if you must:

Oh man, I had almost forgotten about that time Paul Robertson created all that pixel art for that video game parody episode of Gravity Falls... SO EPIC!

I have to watch Adventure Time "elsewhere", because my American friends will post or even draw spoilerific fanart within minutes of the show ending. The new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles show is good, but it's kinda strange why did "Chuck Norris" become a dog? Thing are so different from the original show and yet so similar, in the original show, they would put ice cream on their pizza and now they would make pizza flavored ice cream. The new Scooby-Doo is brilliant, except for the drama: I really hates that in the ending... Hot Dog Water girl is awesome! The final show I'll talk about is Bob's Burger's, I really liked it at the beginning since it was just then in their street and they were "real losers", unlike other shows where Homer Simpson and Peter Griffin who seem to get into ridiculous hijinx they should be able to afford and see no consequences, here you see them live as poor as they are. That is, until the second season, I even saw cutaway gag and slowly they are adding characters to their roster while ignoring the ones in the first season and the show seems to slowly turning into "Peter Simpson" show, but it still feels different enough for me to enjoy it.
