  1. Day of the Tentacle Special Edition

I'm pretty sure they made the hotspots bigger or else it would be unplayable on the Vita via touchscreen. Also, I'm pretty sure sure some puzzles are easier or to be more exact, the skip tedious steps, like when you send a letter, I could swear you had to close the mail box and raise the flag manually, but now it's automatic?
  2. Day of the Tentacle Special Edition

I went and got "100%" of the achievements and it did show me some jokes I would have missed if I didn't look this up, but I gotta say, Maniac Mansion is barely playable since you can't save in it.

I just beat DoTT and I have to warn you, it's filled with "cartoon logic" puzzles... Although they do give hints for everything if you explore enough.
  4. Day of the Tentacle Special Edition

It has the original Maniac Mansion in it! Now that was a pleasant surprise.... I'm not sure how to save in this version though.

    IT'S TIME!

I guess I "finished" Stardew Valley? Like most Harvest Moon-ish games, you get an evaluation, but can play all you want after. Fortunately, Stardew Valley tests you at the end of year 2, which is nice, because in many HM games I just give up on year 3 out of boredom since I've done everything. In most sense, I'd say this is like Undertale or Read Only Memories in the sense that it surpasses the game that inspired it, but it does have one thing that really irked me... The cooking is dreadful, since the game has quests where you need specific crops it does not let you buy the most basic ingredients to make the dishes apart from stuff like flour or sugar, you have to grow everything. You have to befriend every damn person in the village to get recipes and most of them have a favorite recipe that you only get once you befriend someone else. It's funny, because the community quests are a good way to keep you busy and make the game less tedious, but they ruin the cooking. Not to mention that with the thousands of upgrades and crafting recipes, you kitchen stays the same FOREVER! I must say that this is the "best" I've done at this kind of game, I even managed to have a kid before the "test" and my museum was almost complete. Everything was "almost" complete, but the collection part is taken from Animal Crossing and you can do is hope that the suspicious patch of dirt you dig has one of the missing artifacts...
  7. Stardew Valley

Do you have the best weapon and boots? I think I got the boots from a drop and the hint on how to get the best sword is on a Dwarvish grave. I... I guess I'm done with the game? I thought the evaluation would be at the END of year 3, but it was at the beginning! Frankly, now that I've passed the evaluation I really don't see a reason to keep playing.... My greenhouse is half full of ancient fruit, so I'm basically rich, I don't even need to mine since I upgraded EVERYTHING, even tools that I don't use. I got all the minerals in the museum, so all I have to do is hope I get lucky with the "worm patches" for the rest and finish the cooking recipe list... which doesn't sound fun.
  8. Stardew Valley

I've reached the point where I'm basically doing "clean up" by trying to fill up the museum, catching all the fish and such because it's all I can do? I already don't know on what to spend money on now, I just bought a stable that I'll probably never use. I even did all the "Adventure Guild" quests... I could upgrade every tool to Iridium, but... I don't really need a watering can anymore with the sprinkle system I have.... *shrugs*
  9. Stardew Valley

Let's see, the first quake unlocks the mines, the second the sauna/hot water bath, which is above the carpenter's house I think... And then there's the As you level up, the bar grows and they get easier to catch, have you unlocked the area east of the beach? I know the fishing is more profitable there, not to mention you can get a lot of coral there. It kinda sucks that the more expensive fish are harder to get, but you'll get there eventually. I think there is an easier fishing mod out there too.
  10. Stardew Valley

Until you get a kitchen, foraging is also a good way to get energy back. Have you unlocked the sauna? It unlocks after an earthquake.
  11. Stardew Valley

Well, you should get the backpack upgrade by the time the mines are unlocked or you'll never make a profitable trip. I don't think you can really mess up this game unless you die in the mines and lose important items or are stubborn and work yourself sick and have to pay a bill and wake up tired. If you faint from exhaustion in the mines you get charged more than from just fainting in the farm. I'm only missed TWO items to complete the community center's quest, the just gave me a greenhouse that I'll fill with ancient fruits unless I think of a better idea.
  12. Stardew Valley

    I don't have the horse, but the mine carts unlocks I guess I don't need it? I'm not sure how you are only able to do one activity per day, unless you made a giant field to attend to with just the basic tools. Every at the start after attending to the farm I had more than enough time to hit the mines or go fishing. Then again, I've played so many Harvest Moon games I'm not surprised I have almost everything unlocked by the end of the second summer. ;
  13. Stardew Valley

    I just unlocked
  14. Stardew Valley

I kinda like that this game limits presents to two a week, that way you only have to spend two days chasing everybody to give them presents. I'm just giving them eggs and milk until I figure out their favorite.... which is probably a dish I can't make or a bloody diamond. XP
  15. Stardew Valley

I gotta say, the worst part of this game is the cooking, not only do you have to farm your own ingredients, there doesn't seem to be any kitchen upgrades and you can't experiment. In some Harvest Moon games, you couldn't just figure out how to make every dish (Gee, I wonder what will happen if I put an orange in the juicer?), but in Stardew Valley? I just found I have to befriend EVERYBODY for recipes.... Otherwise, this game is excellent... except I'm kinda not into grinding monsters for a reward.... 1000 slimes? OUCH!

I just finished the "EX" tower in Parasite Eve... when did this trend of an post game dungeon begin? I must say, the guides got me scared over nothing, the final boss wasn't THAT hard. I never beat Parasite Eve 2, I guess it's a good time to try. Does the gameplay change a lot from game to game?
  17. RetroThumbs

I played Parasite Eve and while the whole mitochondria plot is a bit silly by modern science standards, I really enjoyed the game although it was kinda easy, except for the finale which is hard for dumb reasons (you're being chased and have to fight the final boss again if you get caught). It a bit weird, it almost seems like each area was created by a different team? Only a few areas have completely hidden items needed to continue the story and the weirdest thing of all? It seems you only automatically discard keys in the hospital after using them, for the rest of the game you have to discard them manually. It feels like the tried to make a "survival horror RPG" and failed because you'll be swimming in bullets pretty soon, which reminds me how weird the ammo works. All the weapons use the same ammo, including the grenade launchers, but only one or two weapons use an actual rocket ammo. All this stuff makes me think that maybe the game was slightly rushed or they just didn't have time to give the game the extra polish... I still think it's great though and I'll playing EX mode now where you have a 70 floor dungeon, which is random and a bit dull, but still enjoyable?
  18. General Video Game Deals Thread

What does everybody think of the latest "Humble Indie Bundle"? Sunless Sea, Trine 3, Else,Heart {Break}, Never Alone, Outlast, Retro Rampage and Doorkickers. It's looking pretty good, I really wanted to try Sunless Sea at least.

The first Breath of Fire games are pretty good, I can't think many of the classics that aren't at least worth playing, if not a must play. The FF series, Dragon Quest, etc, etc... The older 8-bit ones can be rough, but the 16-bit are just right.
  20. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Yeah, that one. A part of me wants to continue, even for just a little more, but I'm not sure. For every thing I like, there are two I hate...
  21. Quitter's Club: Don't be ashamed to quit the game.

Has anybody played Xenogears? I'm 15+ hours and just defeated the most boring sewer section with a boss that took forever to die. Good Lord, the sewer section FELT long and it was only a few screens. And I'm stuck in a tournament... again! The worst part is that I don't want to quit, it seems to have several elements I want to know more about, it just has so much stuff I don't care about or even hate before they do something interesting.
  22. The games that made you buy the system

The only time ONE game made me decide to buy a system was Cannon Spike for the Dreamcast... Although I guess I always wanted a Mega Drive after seeing a friend play Sonic on it.
  23. Walking in a Wizardry Wonderland

I have Wizardry 6-8, but couldn't get into it, but apparently Japan loves Wizardry games so much that they still make them and they've slowly been getting me into this style of games. Demon Gaze was a good starting point for me since it let me play as advanced classes and basically try out skills that seem to be in most of Wizardry styled games? After playing with Class of Heroes and Elminage I feel more ready to play the "real deal" and I'm mostly curious. Do later and more modern Wizardry style have a good variety of spells, species, skills and classes? I really liked the variety of spells these games seem to have although it seems normal to just use magic users for buffs and healing near the end. I supposed I'll need graph paper and be prepared to step on lots of traps soon. But, just how many Wizardry styled games are there? Traps, spells, class changing and praying the next battle won't be your last? I know of Etrian Oddyssey, but that's about it.
  24. Walking in a Wizardry Wonderland

I've played a few roguelikes and I like some of them, I'm just currently looking into games with systems similar to the "Wizardry styled" ones. I played Wizardry 6 for a bit and I didn't like the pacing or the level design, I walked for ages before the first enemy encounter and the battle was very underwhelming. It was closer to playing Legend of Grimrock, only not as good?
  25. Walking in a Wizardry Wonderland

Does the "Magic Wall" skill exists in other Wizardry styled games? The game is almost set to easy mode once you get it. Also, do they all that that annoying darkness tile that for some reason light spells don't affect? They are pretty annoying when they add other trap tiles to them. Maybe having too much variety in classes and species isn't that good, because it's hard to find their special equipment. For example in Class of Heroes 2 there is an "Idol" class that uses microphones (it's Japanese, OK?) and I could find a decent one for the whole game. I'm still excited to play the real deal, even though I'm still in the middle of Elminage.
